I think the game will die out pretty quickly after release because of how archaic it is. But, that's the whole point of the game's existence apparently. It's Gears 1 with improved graphics and the same old clunky gameplay. Some will love it, but most won't.
This whole "yeah, but it's so awesome that it's hard to play!" is just nonsense. Gears of War 2 and 3 are also hard to play compared to Halo and CoD. If you don't think there is a massive skill gap in those two games as well, then you're probably not as good as you think you are at those games. Poor players will get obliterated by a good player almost every time (it's Gears so it can't be every time).
It's also really stupid to say that movement matters less in the sequels. If anything, movement around the map is more important than ever. If you try to rush head on, you are pretty much guaranteed to die in those two games. Use the map, be sneaky, try to actually think up tactics instead of "I'M SO FUCKING AWESOME WITH THE GNASHER, HELL YEAH!". Those guys don't last long.
But, if this is the perfect game for you, then that's fine too. Just don't claim that you are so much more hardcore and awesome than anyone preferring the sequels.
