Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Beta Thread of key begging

game is not a good "ghost recon" title.

basically feels like gears of war/cod.

game is just a shell of what the series was.

I'm not really seeing this.

Compared to GRAW so far it seems a bit faster paced, but the game still requires thoughtful approach to your movement. So it's not like CoD, because you still need to pay attention to your surroundings and not just run straight into shit. Also the use of flash bangs or just any visual disrupter thing feels very important and useful unlike CoD.

Compared to Gears? Maybe, now that MP has a cover system it does feel like cover ads useful element to movement and place shoot from. So just like Gears it allows you to move so your not just out in the open. But characters die quickly here and cover does not serve the same function like in Gears. In Gears cover is used as same sanctuary to your death. You bunker down to avoid death. It's a lot more pop and shoot though then this. Because in this it seems that taking your chance to pop out of cover is a bit more risk. It's really just there for smart movement use and maybe getting the jump. It dosent really turn into the same kind of firefight that Gears does.

People playing this like Gears/CoD should be getting ridiculously pathetic match scores.
Unless you know where your enemies are and have backup around you, you can't be waltzing around unprotected. Cover is essential.
So far, the game is the most tactical experience I've had on Xbox Live. It rewards thinking before acting and using cover and stealth.

Besides, being in cover doesn't mean you can't die, you'll get your ass shot if you pop your head just a little bit or if your cover is shitty and allows bullet penetration.

I don't see any Call of Duty or Gears of War here.

Well...the name of the thread indeed is "Beta Thread of key begging" but it could be a good idea to create a thread just to post impressions.

Dá-lhe! Go ahead ;)
Mods decide :p

are the SC:C buddy codes going out in waves? still haven't received mine yet
Same, haven't gotten anything.

And this is why I bet this game can be awesome if played as a Team. Did some matches and all I saw was random people running randomly.

I played 3 or 4 hours straight with 2 friends. It's awesome, everyone helping each other out. And we got a lot of teams who were playing as an actual team, as opposed to running around like a headless chicken expecting a kill.
Running up to an enemy and performing a stealth kill, while 2 of your buddies check out your surroundings, is amazing,

lean and peak system > cover system in both tactical gameplay and generally giving hte player more control, like all the previous ghost recon titles.

Matchmaking. Elimination of options. dumbed down system for noobs. They removed one of the great aspects of the gr franchise, being able to host your own public lobbies with specific settings.

They even removed things as simple as changing rate of fire on the fly. Instead I have to change to unlock specific triggers? wtf is that shit? ghost recon is a tactical military shooter, well use to be.

Are you getting this game day one?

To be honest I had some trouble to first find where I'm needed and where do I need to stay in order to protect the objective. I'm having good and bad matches at the same time but if played in a Team perspective this game can be much more fun.

2 of thos have nothing to do with the tactical gameplay, and yeah, the unlock system is kind of retarded. Why do I have to choose between stuff? Fuck you game, I want everything.

Next month is Max Payne month, but I would love to get this day one. May have to wait a bit though.
If you have people in your friends list who are playing this, play with them, the game feels much better. If not, you really need to be lucky with your team.

I won't argue that lean in peak encourages even more catious and thinking playing. But I don't think it is that much better then this cover system. The cover system here still encourages thoughtful movement so I don't see it as a negative.

Your other things don't bother me as much. As far as the gameplay is concerned it still feels very GR like.

Yes unlock systems suck, but that's just the way it is these days.

mods changed the title, I originally made it for impressions and whatever else and the title was different, it devolved into key begging and was given a more appropriate name :)

Had a decent time for an hour or so. This game definitely has potential, but as this is a true beta, don't expect any big things yet.

The gun customization system is freaking amazing though. Looking forward to seeing that get stolen by inspire all FPS and TPS games in the future.

How does the suppression system work in practice? Do people use it?

in MP is only works with LMGs which only the Rifleman class can use. If you suppress someone behind cover their camera zooms in tight giving them no peripheral vision so they can't pick and pop back at you

haven't really seen anyone use it yet, but I'm sure once people start figuring out how things work it will prob be a useful tactic to have at least 1 guy on your squad utilize seeing that the game is so reliant on the cover system

Glad to help!

Ok guys I'm going to take a rest. maybe play a little bit tomorrow if the servers can improve a bit too. Hope you can all have some fun, I only have a couple of keys to give but I'm too tired since I've been here for too long.

If anyone wants to add me, GT it's on my profile. Also thanks to the OP, the thread looks very informative!

I haven't been able to get into a PS3 game on the servers all day long. Finally gave up and just played Mass Effect 3 MP instead, anybody else having problems?

If anyone has a spare code, I'd love to have it. It's been a while, but I really liked Ghost Recon 2 on Xbox and then the original GRAW for 360. Thanks in advance!

Got a few matches in. Impressions so far:

- Movement and cover feels GREAT. Although it takes a bit of getting used to. Base movement speed feels pretty fast. Some of the more complex maneuvers like diving into prone, the ultra fast cover to cover sprint, etc. make you think a bit more than shooters like Gears/COD. If you try to cover swap Gears style to avoid bullets you'll just end up getting killed.

- The scale on everything seems a bit larger and more close quarters so it's easier to shoot guys than it has been in past GR games. This game is much more about maneuvering quickly and flanking.

- Weapon customization is overwhelming in the best way possible. I could easily spend an hour tweaking my loadouts once I've unlocked a few. I haven't even gotten to try out the engineer class yet.

- Matches have been nice and lengthy so far.

Negatives

- It's frozen on me twice so far. (PS3)
- The blood splatter effect is kind of distracting, imo.
- Graphics aren't that great. (Beta?)

Overall. Not really sure how much I like the fact that it's undeniably easier than past GR games. So far I've had a lot of fun though.

I think they struck a good middle ground of having tactical combat and having it be slightly arcadey. They have openly said this and I'm glad because my friends who don't normally enjoy ghost recon or the other clancy franchises are enjoying it. It brings me hope because that means there are probably other people similar to my friends who will like it as well. The game is a long way off from being a twitch shooter. The only big disappointment I have so far is what you said about custom options.

Edit:
Also I noticed the game is a bit choppy. It doesn't feel like a fluid 30 fps and it doesn't feel like the game is running at 720p. Regardless I had a fun time and I might forgo playing it on PC just so I have my console buddies to play with if they get it

would someone kindly spear me a 360 code...

Won't be able to play this until tomorrow afternoon. One question: How are weapons sounds, and the general feel of the weapons? This is coming from someone who feels like 95% of shooters are absolutely terrible at both of these, so be real with me. Do the weapons sound, look, and feel dangerous, or is this just another game using CoD guns?

Got a 360 code from Raptr today, I don't know what I did to earn it, but I got it and will check it out tomorrow.

What is the general consensus on the beta so far gaf?

Really enjoy it when it actually works. Hoping they can get the lag and the freeze issues fixed before the end of the beta. If they can I'll be picking it up day one. If not then I'll have to wait.

While I enjoyed it most of the night with a few of the known hiccups, it also didn't blow me away or reel me in in anyway.

Went positive most games, top 3 most games, played with a full group of friends, etc. Nothing about the game felt that compelling. Good game though, solid team work ideas, etc.

I'll need a bit more time to make a decision. Right now t hough it doesn't feel like something I want to pay $60.00 to play.

We need a list of PS3 players... lets get a gaf squad rolling. :)

Finally ran into the notorious lag, and man it is terrible. Hit detection, weird ragdolls and animations, everything gets all fucked up. LOL, they better fix this asap.
