Laugh all you want, but the footage they showed at Comic Con was awesome and definitely R-rated.

And the directors are fucking psychotic.

here's hoping this turns out to be something special. neveldine/taylor are fantastically gifted and have actual artistic vision, unlike the majority of directors who helm these films. these guys + cage = anything could happen. i like statham but cage is wayyy more of a screen presence, he's a genuine movie star.

So I'm assuming this, like Spider-Man, is a Sony property and doesn't fit into the rest of the Marvel Studios universe?
I don't think it's Sony, but yeah, Marvel doesn't have the rights for it.

Yea they're awesome. They said you will see actual broken bones on screen from what they put everyone through.

They ran a video showing how they work and it's amazing. It's the freshest method of filmmaking seen in a long, long, time. One shot showed one of them on rollerblades holding the 90lbs 3D camera while hanging on to one of the motorcycles just to get a shot. They're psychotic, but as Crank and Crank 2 shows; it pays off.

I was wondering what was up with this movie. Hadn't heard anything on it in a while. Thanks for posting this OP. This movie can't be any worse than the first one. Such a bad ass/cool looking character completely ruined by Mark Steven Johnson. He should never be allowed near a another Marvel character movie again. Ruined Ghost Rider and Daredevil.

Let's see how the CGI Abs look.
I still remember the director saying those abs were all Nic. I watched Ghost Rider in the theater thinking "how the fuck did Nic Cage get that stomach so ripped so fast?"

That sounds promising. I hope this one is good and they do the Ghost Rider character some justice. I'm not too thrilled about casting the same actor in multiple Marvel projects (Idris in Thor and now this) but Stringer Bell always gets the benefit of the doubt. :)

Honestly I have more faith in this cheeseball flick than anything Marvel's put out so far (good god what was up with all the hype for Captain America? Aside from the first half hour it wasn't even as good as mummy 2 in terms of an adventure flick hahaa)

Crank 2 was a bit too wacky, but Crank was good. And Nicolas Cage in a shitty performance is still pretty entertaining.

As bad as Ghost Rider 1 was I'm starting to appreciate it a lot more now with all the comic films I saw this year.

This got me thinking. How long is the gap in time before Marvel gets back the film rights to a character?

Quite a bit of time's passed since Daredevil/Elektra, and I haven't heard much about Fox trying to restart.

Hopefully Marvel lost film rights indefinitely. I don't see them doing a better job than the original Daredevil film, it would probably be on par.

I read the summary of the clip from Comic Con, and was with it until I read the part about Ghost Rider peeing fire. That kind of lost me there.

It's probably different with each property. Spider-Man and X-Men most likely have the shortest gap.

Another Daredevil film is in the works, it's supposed to be based off of Born Again.

Vengeance was one of my faves from the 90s and now they're going to ruin him if the last GR movie was anything to go by...

xxracerxx

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.

You shouldn't look at the last Ghost Rider movie when talking about this one.

And the movie studios aren't likely to let the rights lapse- I was reading in the First Class thread that if an Xmen movie isn't put out every so often Marvel gets the rights back, but the studio basically said if they were ever close to that they'd just put out a straight to DVD feature with no budget just to keep the rights from reverting.

Thank God they got rid of the dumbass bike from the first movie. That retardedly overdesigned piece of shit was cheesy as hell.

Fox and Sony are just being assholes at his point and pumping movies out to hold onto their movie licensing rights.
Fox and Sony are never going to let go of X-Men or Spider-Man unless Disney buys those companies.

I can understand Fox and Sony holding on to Spider-Man and X-Men though because those are moneymakers, however I don't understand why they want to hold on to Daredevil and Ghost Rider, those properties didn't exactly set the box office on fire(for lack of a better term.)

I think the X-men movies have a 2 to 3 year gap and lesser known properties like Daredevil have a 5 to 6 year gap. Fox is fast tracking Daredevil even after the first one was not a success because they need one to be in production before the end of 2012.

Same reason this one exists.

EDIT: and you will hear of a Fantastic Four movie before 2012 and released some time later.

I hope that this movie's a huge hit. I'd love to see Cage be part of the next Crank movie. That would be totally batshit.

Holy flaming skulls, Lambert is in this?!? Lambert as in Chris "the fucking Highlander" Lambert?

This just got interesting.

Just kidding, I was going to see this movie even if it got released only on VCD in Taiwan.

They're still good properties to hold in your pocket. They're pretty much guaranteed to at least gross a 100 million.
