Damn, that's disappointing. Huge fan of Crank, and still really enjoyed Crank 2...must have been difficult for them, working with Marvel/Disney.

Marvel/Disney have nothing to do with this abomination. Marvel made some really bad movie licensing deals with Fox and Sony when they were trying to get out of bankruptcy.

This movie was green lit and fast tracked on the cheap by shooting in Eastern Europe so that Sony would keep the license. My sincere hope is that the movie bombs so badly the Sony lets the rights and expire and revert back to Marvel like Lionsgate did to Punisher.

If you are not making something for the right reasons, then it's just a waste of time and resources.

Thanks for the clarification. Can't imagine them entering a licensing agreement w/o having some control over the final product, but I'll take your word for it...and even if it was Marvel/Disney, certainly doesn't explain everything, if it is, indeed, as shitty as the previews say it is.

Hearing that the movie was made for 12 year old boys, and that Harry Knowles prescreened it and loved it makes a lot of sense.

Devin Faraci:

If Cabin reminded me why I love movies, this reminded me why it's okay that we all die someday. So we don't have to keep seeing movies like Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. A failure on every level, this cheap, chintzy, boring and stupid movie doesn't even deliver the dumb fun you'd hope from a Neveldine/Taylor movie. A disaster. My full review is embargoed.

what were the reviews like to Punisher: Warzone though? I thought that movie was awesome.

I loved Warzone. The part where
he shotgunned the guy in the chair's face off
was amazing.

The trailer for this looks great. Hopefully the critics are wrong. They have been known to be so, on occasion.

As do I... to live. High Voltage was literally the most fun I've ever had in a movie theater.

I made it about 8 minutes into Crank 2 at home before I shut it off in disgust. Easily the most terrible thing I've ever seen. I don't know how anyone can watch that. Loud, obnoxious, hard to follow visually, headache-inducing, and BAI LING! She's the kiss of death.

It's not the type of movie I'd readily recommend to others, but if you're predisposed? It's cinematic perfection. I saw it 3 times in theaters with different groups; we all went insane for it. Bought the soundtrack, listened to it for ages, have watched the Blu-Ray multiple times... I'm sorry you (seemingly) hate fun. Neveldine/Taylor for life.

Wow, those are some disappointing impressions from those critics. Sony should just give the rights back to Marvel if they don't care about the property and treat it better than it has been. I know they won't but what if this movie under performs at the box office?

Will it really be worth it to Sony to hold on to the license? Do they make a decent profit from overseas and Blu-ray/DVD to justify holding onto the character? Sony doesn't really seem to care about the character at all. I'd love to see this property back in Marvel's hands and they could reboot everything about it.

I love fun. I hate awful movies. Opinions are opinions, I guess. Give me something coherently directed any day over that crap.

Yeah, it was hilarious. I actually enjoyed Warzone as well. Looking forward to this, but it's still confusing as fuck that it's a seemingly totally different universe but still Cage playing Ghost Rider, like wtf?

I liked the first Ghostrider.
I thought parts of it were...
* Genuinely creepy (the ghost town spirits)
* Awesome (riding down the SIDE of the building!)
* Sexy (Eva Mendezs' cleavage)

I enjoyed it waaaaaaaay more than I thought I would. Lookin' forward to the sequel.

Lord of war was a good movie. Not his best, but it was good. Besides, he has a crazy debt, he needs to pump out these movies as often as he can.

So, I was going to make a new thread about this but was concerned I'd be the only person posting, so I'll drop it here. It's related!

While doing press for Spirit of Vengeance, Mark Neveldine has all but confirmed that Crank 3 is happening. YES. He also said he wants STRINGER BELL in it (and The Rock, but it's nice to want things). Double-YES. He ALSO said it won't happen without Statham; triple-YES. Finally, he said he's whittling down a list of 50 crazy ideas for the film with Brian Taylor and they're just going to go as nuts as possible.

DIES.

Can mankind reach this new pinnacle of evolution so soon after High Voltage? Guess we'll find out, excited and surprised (to be honest) that we'll even get the chance!

Please let this be true, I need more Crank in my life.

If so we can just get another hilarious Earwolf podcast out of it.

Saw it yesterday in 3d. I enjoyed the first one, and also liked this sequel.

Spoilers:

I didn't like the whole angel-turned-into-evil-spirit stuff to explain the Ghost Rider, but DAMN I love the blue flames, such a pity that there's only one shot of it. Really hoping for a third one with an all blue Rider.

Jesus...

This movie.... One of the most insanely fun times I've had at a theater. Just an absolute blast of nonstop crazy-Cage and over-the-top action.

Hated the first movie. Half in the Bag convinced me to try this one, and I'm glad they did. This baby's going to be a cult classic.

Caught this movie this afternoon with my friends. It is soooo fun. A shame it didn't do better, but Cage is fantastic here. Really great to watch him go nuts. Plus, the new visuals of the Ghost Rider are awesome, he looks really horrific and badass at the same time. The Neveldine/Taylor touches are great, sometimes humorous, and almost always awesomely spectacular.

A great, great fun movie. It's not high art, but it's not meant to be just. Just fun. Definitely grabbing this on Blu-Ray.

I absolutely loved the effects on this movie especially compared to the first one.

Like someone mentioned, so sad the blue flames weren't around longer. But holy hell the decay and burnt skull looked so amazing.
