This thread is sad.
That update should have squashed the issue, but it wasn't really the issue people were upset about.
The real issues were posted on hospitals facebook page, so they had to put up a warning not to swear, and that they'd be deleted. A hospital, had to do that. Because someone's childhood is being ruined?

Wanna know why they came? Why the chose that hospital?
They saw these little letter posters that various patients had put up in their window.
The kids called and the Ghostbusters came.

Kids literally knew who they were, knew that they were filming close by and hoped to get their attention and it worked and they made those kids happy.

Not gonna lie; I was one of those folks who thought the trip was a big PR stunt...shame on me.
I'll be the first to eat crow, GAF. I'll admit, my faith in mankind has been lacking lately, but that's not an excuse...
i think it's kind of weird they are doing this before the movie. No one thinks of them , at least not yet, when they think of ghost busters. And even if these kids knew who in the hell the ghost busters were, they wouldn't be expecting this cast.
Not sure, but the cynic in me, see this as nothing more than a desperate bid for a attention.

Yes of course, there's no heart in this. I mean why on earth would they want to brighten some kids day other than to publicize their film that's lacking attention.
I wouldn't have come to that conclusion without knowing they're filming nearby but each to their own lol.
Because they are sick children stuck in a hospital. They usually appreciate visits from funny guys (and gals) in funny dresses regardless of celebrity status.

Before this thread I was indifferent to this movie that I thought would be just another unneeded rehash of a loved old movie. Now, seeing the butthurt the new cast brings out in these absolutely nutjob fans on the net, I'm hoping it makes huge bank and becomes a yearly franchise.

Jokes aside, I gave nothing but the utmost respect for the new cast after what they've done.
I still think that they've ruined what made the old equipments so awesome, though. Nonetheless I'll keep an eye on this reboot.

The thing is the franchise has been horribly mismanaged for decades. Sony sat on their ass for years and then when they made attempts Bill Murray would veto it like an asshole. Now we are finally getting a new ghostbusters except that A) It disregards the first two films B) It's an all female team so boys who loved the guys in the original films and viewed them as role models have no one they can identify with in this new film. So fans are upset that they have been dreaming of another Ghostbusters movie since 1989 and the end product is going to be completely different than what they were hoping for (See the reaction to The Phantom Menace).
Ideally, Sony should have taken one of the many Ghostbusters 3 script treatments Ramis & Ackyroid cooked up over the years that would have been about Ghostbusters becoming a large corporation and having the older guys still around but in smaller more administrative roles and a new group to focus on that would be a mix of girls & guys. Even if they wanted the all female team they could have framed it that this is all part of the larger ghostbusters company but these four women are the focus of the film and they take on the mantle as the top busters.
I'm still interested in seeing the film because Kristen Wigg is great and the director has said some interesting things about it still having some horror/science fiction elements like the original series but I personally just don't understand why they had to take such a radical departure.

It's legitimately hilarious how much people are scared and/or raging about this movie and the actresses and what it represents, and how even here we see people unable to resist pulling the same type of tactics we see with GGer stuff (feigned ignorance, dismissal (why would anyone care about them?), hidden agenda, etc.).

Bridesmaids was nothing but a 40 year old virgin rip off, The Heat and Spy were utter trash. He's not that good at directing. He's excellent at typecasting certain actors for roles though.
Can you imagine a Ferris Bueller's day off, Weird Science, 16 candles, Vacation movie with them ?
Or Terminator, Commando, Die Hard, Lethal Weapon etc.

It's nice to see what they're doing besides shooting, too, because as things start picking up, the fans start hearing less about the movie since everyone is so busy. I hope they come by some west coast conventions at some point, maybe next year before the movie comes out.
