I'm really liking these 5 men podcasts. 4 is the classic but 5 works better with this group dynamic, because jeff is too strong of a personality for 3 people to handle.

The change in tone for VR Talk in the podcast has been stark. Seeing it get a negative initial reception was expected, but I didn't expect it to go as sideways as it has. It's not going to kill the platform, but no one can really claim a smooth launch at this point.

Also, the Climb looks and sounds like kinda a train wreck. Seeing Norman Chan trying to sell that thing as an amazing experience on Twitter was kinda hilarious knowing what that game is and how ridiculously it's priced.

Looking at the initial software lineup I could already knew that it's going to be awhile before they think that VR will be a fully-fledged gaming platform.

It's been obvious that it was not going to be a great launch for a while for anyone paying attention. That being said, there's still a real shock factor to hearing Dan go from 'I'm going to buy all 3 at launch' to 'I don't want any of these right now'.

That's not to mention the distinct negative shift in everyone else's tones as well.

That's the problem though, VR demos very well, but so far it's been mostly demos because people are still learning. It's easy to say you will buy it after a great demo but when the rubber hits the road as something you will shell out >$700 for...? Even more if you need that PC upgrade.

I'm super interested in the VR development scene, but I feel like you have to be to want one. Giantbomb are still generally representing the average consumer out there.

Hot, steamy, emergent VR porn.

You can get that without having to get the big boy VR setups, unless you want actual porn games instead of just VR porn.

Today I was finally, after what felt like an eternity, able to play Elite Dangerous in VR and it was incredible. Everything just feels so much bigger. It's overwhelming. Also, the disconnect between sitting motionless but at the same time visually moving very quick is a very strange sensation.

Edit:

Ha, I didn't even realize you guys were talking about VR. I was just excited.

Can some of you recommend some of your favorite Giant Bomb videos?

I've been listening to the podcasts for a long time but I've been skipping most of the videos with the exception of brad playing Demon's Souls and a mario party one.

What are some of the classics?

I have a bunch of mindless work to do around the house and need something in the background to distract me.

EDIT: I have a premium sub too.

Is uncharted 4 actually getting some good vibes? I am so out of the loop with uncharted stuff.

I think so.

Also, just out of curiosity, I looked back at previous reviews and saw that every Naughty Dog game GB has reviewed has been 5/5. Brad gave Uncharted 2 & 3 and The Last of Us: Left Behind perfect scores, whereas Patrick gave The Last of Us a perfect score.

Has GB mentioned covering Stellaris next week at all?

A small aside, but their Quick Look of Crusader Kings II all those years ago is what got me into the grand strategy genre to begin with.

Quick Looks:
Wipeout 2
New Super Mario Bros Wii
Euro Truck Simulator 2

Premium:
Backflips 'n' Bioforge
Cat Mario UPF and again
Gang Beasts UPF and again and again
Project BEAST
The other Mario Party streams
Load Our Last Souls

For more recent stuff, the Vive and Oculus launch streams are good background noise. It's very interesting (and long!) stuff but there's also a lot of downtime in them.

There's plenty more great GB vids, but this is off the top of my head. And no, I'm not sure if Vinny's prevalence is a coincidence or just a subconcious preference.
NinjaEdit: omg I missed that link to the Myggen recommendation post. It's a good one!

Great! Thanks for the reply. I'll check those out to.

I haven't played it myself, but I think I've heard Kohihime Enbu is more focused on the neutral game more similar to SF, relative to the setplay/oki that most anime fighters are known for (like Melty). So it's not really surprising if Jason actually kinda enjoys the game.
