[...}hear Dan talk about how he uses plastic shopping bags for underwear on laundry days.
Has any QL ever caused as much controversy as Metro Redux?
Wait, when was this? I must have missed this detail, lol.

I don't think that ever happened![]()

I can't believe Danny isn't on the Bombcast, instead I have to hear Dan talk about how he uses plastic shopping bags for underwear on laundry days.
What cruel fate this is

So I made a Giant Bomb thing. I built a new Android app I'm calling Luchadeer to watch Giant Bomb videos and browse through games from the wiki:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.dforsyth.android.luchadeer
It is completely free and supports Android 4.1 and up. If the demand is there, I'll work on some backwards compatibility. Right now, the app gives you:
- Stream any Giant Bomb video to phones, tablets, or Chromecast
- Search and browse through the extensive library of games on the Giant Bomb wiki
- Receive push notifications when new videos are posted for your favourite video categories, or when the Giant Bomb chat goes live
- Save your favourite videos and games so you can always find them easily
- Download videos so you can watch them later
- Link your Giant Bomb account -- subscribers get access to all of their exclusive and HD content, normal users get off the shared rate limit.
And I've got a bunch more that I want to add.
I've also open sourced the whole thing (Android app and backend). The repositories are here:
Android app: https://github.com/dforsyth/Luchadeer
Backend: https://github.com/dforsyth/luchadeer-backend
If you try the app out and find problems with it, have a feature request, or anything like that, you can PM here, or make an issue on Github.
Also, a huge thanks to supernormalstep (on the GB forums) for giving me permission to use his work as the icon for the app.
I don't really want to spam screens here, but heres the first thing you see when you head into the app:

I remember the MW2 quick look where Jeff and Brad parroted the Activision PR spiel about games not needing dedicated servers anymore being very controversial.
I'm sure the comments for the Zelda OoT 3D and the Shadow of Collosus quicklooks were terrible too.
In my experience, that's mostly the fault of Chromecast. My implementation definitely isn't perfect either, but I'll be improving it in the future for sure (or, someone else can do it and I'll merge in their codeWow, awesome. I'll give it a try ha1f. I've been using Giant Bomb Video Buddy for a while now, and it's far from perfect. Namely, the Chromecast support is spotty at best.
What's the story behind that number? The HL streams didn't raise nearly that amount. But here's other people there, so I guess they contributed? Anyways, great fucking job!
One thing I notice immediately is that there's no option to hide trailers. This is one of the reason GB Video Buddy is great, you don't have to wade through non-GB videos to find content.
by the time I realised this was incredibly dumb I had already spent too much time on it to throw it away

Why Zelda OoT 3D? the quicklook was fine IIRC except Vinny and Brad getting stuck quite a bit. But that wasn't frustrating since the video was positive. It was great.

I think it was because Brad was stuck on a puzzle that needed a crate for 20 minutes while destroying crates.
Like actively going "Where can I find something to keep that switch down? *slashes crate*"
I still get a laugh out of this.SotC one was also pretty mindblowing for how insistent he was that he wasn't doing anything wrong and it was the game's fault.
"Let the record show, my finger is not letting go of the button" is a pretty good quote.

Well the whole quicklook was Brad running around trying to find a box but then destroying the only box in the room everytime he entered it lol.

Yup. Since I have notifications for when videos I want to see come out this wasnt a priority for me. Since giving the app to other people, though, I've realized that people really want it. I'll add it in a coming release.
I definitely don't have feature parity with gbvb yet, but I figured I'd let people know the app was out there sooner rather than later.
The OoT3D QL also had a moment where it almost sounds like Vinny is about to say "what about this crate" before Brad destroys it for the nth time.
Some lesser controversial QLs were that Majin... whatever budget game that was made by some former SCEJ/Team Ico people that Brad seemed really harsh on (and had a great moment where he said that the game was way too easy right before getting stumped on a puzzle where the camera pointed directly to the switch you had to pull), and that Hydro-whatever XBLA game where there was a similar moment (camera points right to a ladder, Jeff and Ryan immediately run in the opposite direction and start laughing about how the game isn't showing them where to go).
Oh, and Persona 3 Portable QL is often overlooked but it was probably one of the most controversial QLs of all. Christ, the leadup to that QL and the reaction to it was a rollercoaster.
Oh, the memories. Looking back that's pretty damn funny, but it was a frustrating watch.
edit: I think the most "controversial" video GB can make of a game is Jeff doing an Encycolpedia Bombcastica on the Metroid Prime games.
Oh sweet lord Jesus. A great part of Giant Bomb is that they don't have to do content for games they don't like, though. Jeff would never do a Majora's Mask feature either, fortunately, because he is known for his poor opinions regarding these games.
Guys, they're never going to play another Mario Party game, are they?

Dan confirmed in this thread just a few days ago that they are, but he just needs to get his hands on a N64 version of Mario Party 2. I imagine he now owns 15 versions of that game because of people sending their copy to him.
Dan has assured us they will party again. He's just looking for a copy of Mario Party 2, guessing they'll get one this week, wouldn't be surprised it if it happens next week.
