Yeah I agree that it's not a good movie at all (was still a great theatre experience because of the visuals so I can't be too down on it), but the backlash came in the form of so many people HATING the film. Like, if you say that you like that movie on a random internet forum, people will fucking rip you apart. I never thought it was bad enough for that reaction.
Looking forward to Avatar 5 though.

I was talking about The Last Airbender/Korra. The cartoon. Jason mentioned really liking it in the bombcast he was on and I saw people making fun of him for it (because the crew made fun of him for it there and GB fandom is a lot like a high school).
Oh. I didn't see that and just assumed it was the movie. That must have been the "Anime=Jerks" contingent.
Oh, okay. I always see that referenced as The Last Airbender, not Avatar. The Last Airbender is incredible (Korra less so), so fuck the haters.

You can actually find specific episodes very easily if you just google Bombcast + one or two games discussed in that episode. Almost always yields the right result. Thankfully, they've been diligent with their episode descriptions. *Almost* makes up for the quality of their site search function.

I feel like Dan would be funny if he was a fictional character, but honestly when I listen to him be totally ignorant of EVERYTHING - including friggin videogames - I just wonder, why was this guy hired? Why am I listening to him? What the fuck am I doing with myself here exactly?
I watched a few minutes of the Metro QL. Yep, it's dumb. I don't care he doesn't like the game or anything, I never played any Metro, but it's just basic stuff like he doesn't seem to understand what is happening (gets picked up by the bird 'is that supposed to happen?' 'uhhhhh i don't think so' yes it is supposed to happen and it's actually kind of cool, wake up and pay attention!) and then he's going on about how he doesn't watch movies with subtitles cos he doesn't go to movies to read...just...

To say that he doesn't know anything about video games is totally wrong. He's knowledgeable on that subject. He has some blind spots, ie. Japanese RPGs and the like, but he knows a lot about video games and have been reviewing them since he was probably about 16. Also, the "is that supposed to happen" comment was clearly a question about if it was a scripted event that always happen, or if it's just an enemy fucking you up (also, didn't Brad ask that question?). I'm not sure what's the answer since I haven't played the game, but it seemed like it was just enemy AI fucking him up.

My biggest issue with the site is that, with all of this L trigger R trigger talk they have ignored the worst option: that being the N64's Z trigger.

I'd like to think I'm not being "creepy" when I'm trying to explain why I am put off by some of Dan's content anyway. I think some of his stuff is fun, especially once I understood his "character", but there are things that people will find off-putting and that should be fine. To deny it's not a big change, regardless of where you fall, is denying reality.

The only prolonged exposure I've had to him is through Metal Gear Scanlon and I'm just talking about how he's frequently wrong on things he says about what is happening in the game, and it's a game he never stops praising. Now I get it, he's just a fan he doesn't need to know the game's programming inside out, but it's that on top of not knowing about any general knowledge topics and reveling in that as a joke to an annoying degree, he also doesn't really have interesting enough things to say about games to make up for that. I rarely agree with any of the GB crew about their opinions on games, but I like listening to most of them talk, most of the time. I don't like listening to him talk at all because it feels like he's just deliberately playing up his actual ignorance all the time and I can't find much points of agreement or identification with him in how he talks about games. Oh I guess he also knows some stuff about fucking WWE.
...Sorry, I know I'm kind of going off here. I don't mean it personally as an attack on Dan, although since the site is about the personalities it can't help but sound that way. I don't think he's a BAD PERSON or anything, I just think he's uh, dumb and a bad presenter and I am baffled by his presence. I miss Vinny...but I understand...Vinny's become a family man...
