Giant Bomb #9 | More Dan Meets The Eye

Drew had a total meltdown at
the end of his B2 adventures. Just standing there waiting for the elevator when he'd used the box maybe 10 seconds earlier, and then running around like a lunatic when he could've just gunned the enemies down.
So weird.
So watching the latest UPF, was it supposed to start midway through a smash fight?
Yes. Audio problems at the start so they cut it.
So I know he'S always associated with that game but what's the story here?

Nope, it started a bit earlier.

Hope they fix the archive. Edit: Oh, didn't know there were audio issues.

Haven't watched it myself but a playthrough of Hatoful Boyfriend was one of the first things Danny did for Gamespot after joining the main office.

I'll tell you, the way Drew plays MGS is exactly how I played MGS back in the day, and it's why I kind of hate stealth games. You always have to be so cautious.

I like that, though, since no other genres ask you to be cautious. I also like to play stealth games with no kills, if I can.

There aren't any other games like that, so it's fun to have one genre that asks you to constantly fight the environment rather than just tear through it.

Yep. No kill runs are basically the only way I play stealth games. Except when they suck and I'm stuck on the last chapter and just want to be done with it.

I think Drew should practice with some VR missions so he doesn't feel so pressured or worried about getting into a position where he'll lose progress if he screws up.

I wish Dan would take the time to explain to Drew how easy it is to clean a whole room with the silenced Socom. He said he dreads starting every new area, that doesn't sound like an enjoyable experience.

Still love the series, though. I just hope Drew doesn't run out of steam before it gets good (MGS2 = the best.)

I've had Inca People stuck in my head when I woke up in the morning like three times now.

Hope you're doing this every time. I can't do it, lol.

I was always disappointed at how much of a bullet sponge you were in MGS3 and MGS4 (and the sheer amount of ammunition they throw at you in both). There's almost no consequence to running and gunning, and usually that's the best way to get through every area even on higher difficulties. It sorta took away what was unique about the series.

MGS1 might have been a little too punishing, but MGS2 hit the sweet spot in difficulty I felt.

So I know none of the crew loves Destiny, and they've already done a good bit of content with the game, but I'd love to see Brad/Jeff play through a raid since they (nor I) have any idea what that is in Destiny.

So MGS spoilers

What ending are they going to get? Dont you only get the "bad" ending if you submit? I didnt know if you hung around long enough the Ninja would come get you out. I normally escaped or submitted

major mgs spoilers

Meryl dies if you submit, so you have a homoerotic ride out of the base with Otacon at the end. If you don't submit, she comes with you and you just have a nice ride with your lady friend at the end. This ending is considered canon. Submitting is the main (and only?) thing that determines which ending you get

even the fact that it's so self-serious is a joke. except when it's not, and then that's a joke.

in other words, best series.

MGS is kind of a joke in a way. It realizes it is a video game and is totally fine with being campy as hell. Some people don't get that. It is all about being absurd.

You guys are giving Kojima way too much credit. Most of his bad writing really is just bad writing, not intentional camp. Still enjoy the series though.

Anyway, I'm really loving the bombcast these days. I stopped listening for a few years when it seemed like they would talk about cleaning yards and mowing lawns for an hour straight every episode. Dan is an excellent addition.
