Giant Bomb #9 | More Dan Meets The Eye

I wonder who will be playing Hyrule Warriors.

I can't bring myself to watch anymore Metal Gear Scanlon. Drew gets frustrated so easily because he is so bad with the game. I don't think a playthrough of MGS2 would help much either. It's not so much the actual controls as much as the mechanics of it all. He's oblivious to the nature of the game.

Dan definitely, with probably Jeff or Brad.

I thought he was playing a lot better in part 7.

It's an interesting watch for me as I don't know much about the game. I can't really tell if he's at fault or if it's the game's fault when he gets frustrated. I've been learning towards the latter since Dan hasn't exactly super enlightening as to how he's supposed to do many of the stealth sections ("Just run through and punch the wolves!"). Either way, it's been fun to watch.

Even though Drew has explicitly said otherwise I can't shake the feeling he's not enjoying this feature at all and that's he's just too nice to say no to Dan. That being said I still selfishly hope they play the rest of the games in the series.

I mean the games get progressively better gameplay-wise as the series went on. I'm just savagely anticipating the madness that is MGS2.

Man, watching Drew play this is painful. I can't wait for them to be done with MGS and move onto 2 and 3. I hope he understands how these games play at that point. I do really enjoy the commentary on these but watching him get the same thing wrong 20 times in a row is becoming a real bummer. Dan really, really needs to tell him what to do way earlier.

To be fair, it's his job. It's not like he's pointing a gun at his head.

I just learned that naomi hunter is voiced by jennifer hale, wow. can't believe i did not know that even after playing that game like 10 times. Also i hope Drew remembers his stun grenades for the stair part

I for one am very excited...

I have to keep reminding myself that I've beaten these games repeatedly so my knowledge of these areas are just as intimate as Dan's. OTOH, I don't think Drew has any conception on how to "game" a game. By now he should know that holding H button with FAMAS equipped gets you nowhere and at least know that enemies always have a routine. It's a shame because I like Drew the most but MGS is totally not for him.

Dan is trying to let Drew figure everything out for himself to give him the purest experience possible. I agree with this approach

I played MGS for the first time this year and the biggest surprise in the entire game was realizing that she's been voice acting for so long. The first time I heard her I figured it was either Jennifer Hale or one of the gals who did Cate Archer.

You must be a subscriber to the Patrick Klepek School of Overwroughtitude. I'm trying to think of how you can savagely anticipate something... and it involves slaughtering cute animals while licking your lips as you simultaneously write in your diary about next weekend's prom date with Carl Weathers. You obviously have four arms. Sweet!

She's also Emma in Metal Gear Solid 2. Crazy.

Ok, something just went straight over my head here.

Looks like the Hyrule Warriors Quick Look is gone from the schedule?

So I know none of the crew loves Destiny, and they've already done a good bit of content with the game, but I'd love to see Brad/Jeff play through a raid since they (nor I) have any idea what that is in Destiny.

I would love to see them try, but I at this point I think Brad is the only one who is willing to grind to the level requirement. Maybe he could find enough people outside Giant Bomb, like Kessler, who would be willing help.

I watched people streaming most of the raid yesterday, and it is by far the best I saw from the game so far. Kinda baffling why Bungie thought it was a good idea to put the best stuff in a game mode, that most people will probably never play. If they had put some of the ideas they had there in the Strike and Story missions it would be a much better game.

Where does it say that they recorded a Hyrule Warriors QL? I don't see it on the schedule or Twitter. Anyways, I hope Jeff sits in so we get a glorious meltdown.

I'll tell you, the way Drew plays MGS is exactly how I played MGS back in the day, and it's why I kind of hate stealth games. You always have to be so cautious.
The thing is, MGS is closer to pacman than a stealth game. You can basically sprint everywhere just staring at the radar and avoiding the cones of sight. The ai patterns are all super straight forward, and it's not hard to guess where the guards will potentially make a turn. Same is mostly true for MGS2, though they made it slightly more stealthy.

It wasn't really until MGS3 where you had to actually take your time and use caution, because you no longer have a radar to rely on.

I wish they could trade in Dan for Danny. I'm already getting tired of Dan's shtick/personality. All the Dan and Drew combo Quick Look's haven't been helping.
