I was also joking! Hence the SJW thing and the thing about eating children.

I would like to make clear I DO NOT LIKE TO EAT CHILDREN OR OTHERWISE MAKE THEM UNHAPPY.

Okay well add that to the total sum of times I don't know when people are joking or not. Man neogaffing is hard work. I'm going back to youtube comments, where I know where I stand!

So what is Dan's definition of "dork"? I thought I had a handle on what he meant by the word, however recent videos have thrown me back into the dark.

timestamp for this?

But... WHY ARE THOSE THREE EQUIVALENT?!

NinjaEdit: Oh, I get it. Nerds/geeks are stereotypically skinny; and slender, tall objects can be seen as... a dork.

Very clever, Mr. Ryckert.

Wikipedia tells me that "dork" is "vulgar slang for penis", so it's not something he has invented. But "dork" as a substitute word for geek and nerd is just a Dan-ism.

Definitely not true. That was the only definition I knew until Dan used it as a replacement for penis.

I can't believe I just refuted a statement about a slang term for penis.

It's Dan's fault.

Oh yeah, I know. But "dork" normally isn't used as a substitute for "geek" and "nerd". They're used to describe similar people, but not the same. "Dork" is normally used to describe a more...well, socially inept person than "geek" and "nerd". "Geek culture" has made it cool-ish to say that you're a geek or a nerd, it's not cool to say that you're a dork.

Guys, at one point Jeff was playing some sort of Doom sourceport over the internet, with all kinds of servers running different wads. Anyone remember what that was or the stream that happened in?

I'm not great at games, especially platform games, but I never got stuck on any TR jumping segments. When I got stuck it was just not being able to figure out where to go.

I liked all the Uncharted games (including TR 2013) but the near total removal of platforming challenge still makes me sad.

It would surprise me if the platforming of the new Tomb Raider offered anything cerebral at all. Its target audience are the fans of Uncharted and Enslaved. Those games are not about rewarding the contemplation of movement mechanics -- they are about rewarding obedience, and it frightens and upsets me that they are widely praised. Not that they are completely worthless pieces of media; they look and sound very nice. But I wish they would do away with the orwellian QTEs and meaningless walking around. I wish we could have more communication, and less crawling.

I'm a fan of the older Tomb Raider games and Uncharted, they do very different things. Uncharted is about the insane set pieces with the dynamically shifting environments that no other game has been able to match. The actual platforming is non-existent or very automated but it's not really what the game is about. Combat in the game is also among my favorite in the genre because of the verticality and mobility. Rolling away from a grenade, climbing up a post, jumping off and shooting a guy and punching another before diving back into the water to escape a shotgun brute is exhilarating. They're just very mobile, fun games. The third game also made melee look and feel natural in a way no other games has managed on the same level.

Really didn't like the new Tomb Raider though. The set pieces were obviously going for the same kind of Uncharted feeling but they didn't have anywhere near the same level of quality. You aren't very mobile and despite having such open areas the combat is almost always on a single plane. The combat dodge is broken and makes the game laughably easy while looking completely ridiculous. The open areas are completely pointless and have nothing to do aside from ubisoft esqe collectibles because the combat doesn't take advantage of it. Not to mention every single tomb in the game being one room. For a series built upon having incredible, involved puzzles and challenging platforming it's really a bummer.

<3 thanks!

No problem, for future reference if you know what game you're looking for you can just search it on the site and the video in which the staff played it will be linked to the wiki page. In this case I just went to the Doom page on the site and it was in the videos.

Not sure. From my understanding, a geek is someone who is really into something particular and quite knowledgeable about, like say, video games, anime, even sports, but they are not necessarily smart. A nerd, however, is someone who typically is quite smart, but does not necessarily follow "geek culture". A dork (and I looked this up the other day to make sure) is someone who is somewhat oafish, bumbling, and socially awkward (I guess this also fits the definition for doofus or dweeb). In some cases someone can be all three (a gnerdork?). Sometimes I feel like I am.

Come on, man. Wrestling's not a sport.

It's very much a sport. They are officially recognized as Sports Men because of three reasons.

1.) Muscles: They have them. That is Sports as hell.

2.) The three count: Every Sport has counting. Name one time you have ever heard anyone count outside of athletics. Go on. I'm waiting...

3.) Spandex: Spandex was invented for Sports. Putting on spandex was actually the first sport.

So there's definitely going to be another Royal Rumble at PAX Prime? When is it? I don't remember it being on the schedule, unless it's that Hunger Games thing Danny is hosting.

EDIT: Nevermind, I found it. :)

So, uh, I guess we shouldn't expect that secret piece of content for a while:

Jeff's Tumblr:
anongamer10000000 asked:How real is the hype surrounding the mystery piece of content teased on the lobby/twitter. When will we be seeing it?

It’ll go up when it’s ready. Could be a couple of weeks? Not sure, editing stuff takes time and we’ve all got other things to work on, too.

My guess for the content is that it's a scripted video to introduce the Metal Gear Solid series. Drew with a headband and a mullet and all.
