I highly doubt she would feel hurt by what some random internet dude said

Hope so. She's been on GB stuff for a while... but when she showed up on Jason/Lisa's extra life stream and stayed there for the duration... I became a fan of Sam. It was fucking awesome.

If you don't like Samantha that's fine, feel free to mute the stream whilst she's on. But do you need to announce it? Does you announcing your dislike for her result in anything other than maybe making her feel down if she reads the thread at any point?

what he is talking about is relevant thats why. if he doesnt like a guest he can say it if he wants

I mean considering that Jeff is really impressed with everything else it seems a bit over the top to say Microsoft is bsing people. It seems awesome regardless of fov.

The Kinect seemed ridiculously amazing when you only got five minutes and a plate full of Microsoft's lies too. If they weren't so addicted to being dishonest about their actual limitations I'd be a lot more ready to be excited about the near future of the technology.

Even the illumiroom looked cool for a demonstration.

Kudo literally told Jeff that the FOV wouldn't get much larger. Every time I hear somebody get completely shocked at the truth about Hololens I get pissed off at Microsoft's bullshit all over again.

He said not to expect full peripheral vision. And please, explain to me a more accurate way of showing off HoloLens content. They're filling the screen with what you're going to see with the device. If that peeves you, all gameplay demos should be an off-camera shot of a TV playing the game. Because that's what you're REALLY seeing, right?

Don't fill the screen with it. Show it in a small box representative of what you'd actually see. Don't fake interactivity with scripted and rehearsed events. Don't hide occlusion problems by showing the camera from angles where the image isn't laid on top of the person's hand. Don't fucking lie, that's literally all I'm asking of them.

I speak as somebody who's upset a person in the industry because I was a dick about how they did things on a forum. Once they contacted me about it I felt like shit and stopped criticizing people on the internet.

If her self esteem is affected by someone posting on some message board then she has other issues that need to be dealt with.

If somebody annoys you in real life you don't say it to their face, if you say it to their face and they're upset by it it doesn't mean they have issues.

What about the people who complained about Greg Miller, who was defending him? I'm seeing a lot of double standards here.

I don't think people should talk mess about Greg or Dan or anybody else for what it's worth. I also feel double standards would only be an issue if I was rallying with them in their criticism against Greg.

Someone said she was the best guest and I disagreed. I don't see a problem with that.

I don't see a problem with that, I also don't see why you can't just keep it to yourself.

I'm with you on this. I went into E3 thinking Sony was going to be super misleading with Morpheus, but it ended up being Microsoft.

I'm glad they're working on the tech and I hope it will be awesome someday, but Hololens is far from what they are selling it as.

"the FOV isn't exactly final, but I wouldn't say it would be hugely, noticeably different either"

If that's the FOV they're releasing with, they need to start setting expectations in their promotional/marketing videos now or they're going to set themselves up to fail.

You're accusing them of a lot of things, I can't say i've read enough on it to know if those are the case but sure, be skeptical. I think it's cool that Jeff and co say it works as advertised beyond a smaller fov, if that turns out to not be the case at some point then i'll get angry then, not before.

I've tried VR at some EGX conventions in the UK. Experience was great, but I feel compelled to wait for a final a '2nd/3rd consumer version' before I bite the bullet.

Jeff's demo was not interactive at all. And if you watch the video from the presentation, you can see the guy on stage missing his cues too and the demo goes on before he makes any faked action to control it. And Jeff also mentioned that if you wave your hand in front of the glasses, the image always goes on top of your hand, which the stage demo clearly implied was not the case when he reached down "into" the image.

Again, I fail to see the difference between showing HoloLens content in full screen and any other gaming content in full screen. They're showcasing AR graphics technology, and what the device is capable of applying to real world visuals. Plus, it's not suggested that what you're seeing in HoloLens demos is a first-person perspective. If Microsoft releases a trailer where you see from the user perspective, lowering on a headset, and see full peripheral - that's inaccurate.

As is, the demo seems perfectly fair. Like any of this AR tech, it's working out how to express an inherently first-person experience in third person.
