Giant Bomb @ E3 2016 | WEED3

Impossible to know without knowing who that guy is. Right now I'm gonna call bullshit because most of those kinds of Reddit posts are.

I got no idea about Reddit, but there were some people who are more convincing.

https://twitter.com/Dat_Saintsfan
The youtuber who created the buzz for RDR before the conference happened, and his source :
https://twitter.com/Yan2295

Just look at their latest tweets.
It's obviously no conformation of any sorts, and still rumor and gossip.
The latter guy seems to be someone that has alot of ties in the Rockstar community.

Well, guess we won't get an answer to that.
Unless they drop a trailer later today.

That's not even close to a trustworthy source, but stuff often does get pulled because of tragedies. I remember when an episode of Hannibal wasn't aired because of the Sandy Hook shooting.

Yeah, stuff like this absolutely happens and with the worst shooting in U.S. history happening literally a day before the show I can completely see why Sony would get nervous.

Even the comment section of that post is calling it out as fake

And another thing that makes me doubt it is the description of what is being shown. To me, the whole brothel/saloon being shot up sounds more like a demo than a trailer. Unless that plays a vital role to plot. Also, in that 2K at E3 thread, someone tweeted that the press have seen the game. If that was true, I wonder if Jeff would've seen it at Judge's Week. He didn't seem to react as if something was missing, at least it didn't seem that way to me. Although, had he seen it and it didn't show, I doubt he'd be able to say anything.

It happened last night with the 2-hour premiere of TNT's The Last Ship. The second hour apparently had scene where a club was being assaulted.

In Japan

This is the best idea out of Capcom in ages.

Since every Xbox game seems to be coming to PC also, what are the chances that games that are still console exclusive get releases for Windows 10? I'd love to play the Halos and maybe Sunset Overdrive, but if there aren't going to be games I need an Xbox for in the future it's kind of a hard sell for me.
I kinda doubt that there'll be a time exclusivity thing between Xbox and PC, so far I think both Quatum Break and the Gears of War 1 update were released at the same time. But unless you have a really powerful PC, there's no guarantee that the PC version will be the better one, especially at launch.

Another benefit of having an Xbox One is that you can play console exclusive multi platform games (like FF15) assuming you don't already have a PS4 where they're usually better by a bit. And like you already said you do get older XB1 exclusives like Sunset Overdrive (super fun), Master Chief Collection, Halo 5, and Rare Replay (awesome collection).

The backward compatibility is also a nice bonus if you have any compatible games, and I do have a Kinect with mine and I do use the voice stuff a lot for TV.

PC PS4 seem like such the perfect duo this gen. I lucked out big time. I'm a big Motorstorm fan, and that Forza video gave me some Motorstorm vibes. I'll be keeping my eye on that.

Sweet preemptive analysis of their coverage without having even watched it.

Giant Bomb does this weeeeeeeeird thing of being skeptical of a corporation's advertisements in an industry where outright lying and deceit is pretty common. They're one of the few big sites that's personality driven where everyone (sans Vinny) has a background in old school video game journalism and criticism. There's a very real and (IMO) good reason they are the way they are when they give their initial reaction in real time.

I wasn't going on the reviews of the E3 2016 coverage but their content of the past, such as quick looks (this especially, "Demon's Souls must be for masochists or something"), podcasts, and the past E3 coverage. It's like they are usually in wet blanket mode or something. Sometimes they let fun or excitement creep in but seem to quickly shut that feeling down with an attempt to find the gloom.

It's good that they have a audience that really like their style. It just feel like it's something to watch if you are on the fence about something and want to be talked out of being optimistic about games (not talking about VR), like casual gaming customers. That skeptical state of mind does very well as a customer watchdog. Naturally I'm already skeptical on games and do my own shopping, so when I watch game enthusiast programs to be entertained, especially on reveals, I try to avoid the rain.

It baffles me that anything less than 110% frothing at the mouth is seen as jaded or cynical. Like, to the people shitposting - the critique was that they wanted more information. they're on your side, if anything.

Why is it so important to people to be spoonfed a certain level of hype that falls in line with their bias? It sounds exhausting to need validation that frequently.

Exactly. You took the words right out of my mouth.

Here's the thing - I'm in my late 20s and I've seen my fair share of video game related content over the years. It's difficult (but not impossible) for me to recapture that excitement, and exuberance I once had when I was say, 17. A lot of younger viewers out there are conditioned by streamers, and YouTubers who go completely overboard when it comes to product impressions.

"OMG GUYS, YOU WON'T BELIEVE HOW AMAZING THIS IS. IT'S... IT'S... I CAN'T EVEN DESCRIBE TO YOU HOW PERFECT THIS IS. WOW, I AM BLOWN AWAY."

Throw in a custom YouTube thumbnail of some kid clenching his fists and screaming in an excited manner, and there you go. A lot of empty hyperbole.

The GB crew are older than me, and they've been working in the industry for years! It's all about perspective. As someone who has been following these guys for a decade it was obvious that they enjoyed quite a bit of what they saw. I mean, pretty much everyone except Dan dislikes, or is tired of God of War, yet they were all noticeably impressed during that reveal. Some of the reveals piqued their interest, some didn't. What more do you people want?

Not just that, but obviously when you're younger everything is fresh, novel, and you're more easily impressed. Then you have fans of any age who are so engrossed and attached to their hobby that if someone isn't visibly freaking out over whatever it is they're freaking out about, they're considered "jaded" and disinterested. Like you said, I think one of the main reasons is people feel like they need to be validated all of the time. It's a big reason I stay away from comment sections on reviews because you have people fighting tooth and nail over a subjective, numerical score. Hell, people freak out and flip their shit at people's top 10 games of the year.

Playing the Lego Star Wars VII demo. I'm not often the type to get caught up too much on performance when it comes to consoles, but I'ml increasingly annoyed that TT doesn't push their Lego games to 60fps on current consoles. (Also: Such a weird lack of Finn in the trailer from the Sony conference.)

Edit: Oh shit, just saw the REVII demo is finally live.

Oh right, Giant Bomb thread on Gaming Side always brings out to "SO JADED" crew. Just don't watch it, plenty of coverage out there that exists solely to generate hype and engage with hella brands. This isn't new, you're not hip, move along.

For a while those games were 60FPS as fuck but then they realized bloom, motion blur, and anti-aliasing were things then went to 30FPS.

Probably around the time of LotR LEGO, when they started using movie lines.

I don't anymore for thier e3 stuff, I'm a massive giant bomb fan but I like to be hopeful and excited during e3 and for me they harsh my E3 buzz. Enjoyed Xbox and Sonys showings this year. There look at us were not excited feels almost forced and hip at times, and I love giantbomb outside of e3.

There's a difference between 110% frothing at the mouth and this:

@DanRyckert

That was the weakest Sony presser in several years. I had high hopes! Disappointed in almost everything that wasn't God of War or Kojima.

This kinda reads like a Trump tweet.

MS conference didn't announce any new games which I thought was a disappointment, without the hardware talk it would've been here's a bit more footage guys. Sony did announce a few new titles but really not much context to what was shown overall and no indie game push. Both were underwhelming in different ways.

Personally I'm taking away about 10-15% of each.

I enjoyed watching the Ubisoft conference as a well done presenatation, seems like the GB guys did as well.

Biggest turn offs for E3 are Star Wars and zombie stuff. Hearing the Star Wars music over and over is making me almost physically sick and seeing the explosion of different games over the last year or two is really diluting any love I have. I'm really just a fan the first 3 movies and haven't exposed myself to much Star Wars in the last 15-20 years but I can't take much more.

I thought Sony's E3 last year was boring back then, and totally understood why the duders were down on it.

This year I'm discovering that "show and announce a lot of games" isn't the point of E3 presentations as I assumed was universally agreed upon my whole life, but it's about executives being celebrities and "using the stage" and boring state of the platform speeches and padding it out with the specific info that's best reserved for the showfloor demos and post-conference press releases and interviews, which is a completely alien idea to me.

This. You are so right. I really can't understand this.

i want to slap the person who decided the best thing to do all microsoft conference was continually cut away from the direct feed to show off their fucking theatre when stuff was happening on screen

what's wrong with you, person

Well, Microsoft did technically announce a bunch of new stuff, just turns out they were leaked. It sucks, but I felt that the gameplay i saw at Microsoft captivated me more as a whole than the stuff at Sony.

And yea, I love Star Wars, my favorite franchise but the way it's trotted out at these conferences... eh... can do without that.

Going back to read the thread because i was asleep.

Man i missed some shit huh?

And people think the Undertale fandom is bad.

Have a sneaking suspicion they worked production for WWE at some point. WWE does that shit for all of their backstage segments and it looks terrible. Here's a shot of a bored crowd looking at a giant screen. Woo!

perhaps I'm turning into a jaded old grouch like the gb crew but having watched all the conferences now honestly the only 2 games I saw that I'm excited for without reservation are Titanfall 2 and Horizon

I don't have a lot of standouts either, but i just have really specific tastes that usually don't show up during an e3. You don't have to like everything to not be jaded.

Which is the dumb dichotomy people try to bring in these threads. I love gaming. I don't really have anything i love shown during this e3.

Wait...they're 30FPS on consoles? Wow.

It was teeeeerible. Biggest disappointment of this E3 so far.

I really hope it's just a terrible showing and they release some compelling gameplay during E3. Only game I was really down on during the MS conf.

And yes, Kevin Dunn was indeed in charge of the camera crew. So bad >_<

A kamiya game where I zoom out to a boring stationary position to plink away at a distant target does not feel like a kamiya game at all.

I trust the man, but... what I'm seeing... does not fill me with confidence.

Wait they enjoyed Ubisoft?. Is this like opposite world today that showing was long boring and filled to the brim of filler.

Having not watched all the conferences but reading what's been announced, the only two games that I'm genuinely looking forward to are ff15 and the last guardian, both with genuine excitement mixed with morbid curiosity.

I must be outta touch with most people. I completely agree with the Bomb crews take on the conference. It was fine, but not crazy good for me like it was for some people. Horizon is the best looking game of all the conferences but other than that...eh.

Doom showed like shit last e3, so I won't put 100% stock in anything.

That said, I'm pretty excited for state of decay 2. Original game is really good. Like, really, really good.

I'm done putting faith into an E3 demo ever since Deus Ex had a miserable showing at E3 2011, and then it came out and was maybe the best game that year?
