Giant Bomb @ E3 2016 | WEED3

I loved the conference a lot, but the end seemed to come suddenly to me. I really missed the usual Adam Boyes indie games section. I always anticipate what neat indie games are on their way. The best instance of that was in 2013 when they had all those indie devs on stage and they highlighted each of them.

Rumor that Red Dead was the original ending but got scrapped for content because of the tragedy in Orlando.

It was very abrupt and weird. I think if you ended with God of War the whole thing comes off better but they obviously really wanted that orchestra to kick off the show.

Maybe. That would've been the only game shown were living humans would be shot. While Days Gone had mass killing, it was zombies, which may have earned that game a pass. Also, some "insider" apparently claimed that it was supposed to be part of the conference, but was surprised to see it wasn't there. However, they said it will be announced sometime this week (maybe as a simple PR release/trailer?).

Red Dead, as in a new entry? Or we talking remaster?

I think that's which is why I enjoy PSX quite a bit, I think people are forgetting that Sony now has a third show that they fill with indie games.

They really dropped the ball on giving consumers a reason to care about psvr. Between this the rifts distribution woes and the wider public's complete indifference to vr its hard not to think the worst about the future of these headsets.

They pushed of showing off VR to the side venues from the start of that i think. What they showed were the most fitting for what they were going for. You are right though that their "responsibility" of making VR popular didn't have as much effort put into it as people who want VR in general to succed would want.

As in the sequel. This is just stuff I'm reading here and a few other places.

Could be completely made up but considering how Sony seems to 'get' press conferences, having Days Gone end the show after already doing the cinematic teaser earlier in the show is weird.

I also can't imagine Sony thought that demo was just that great that it could close an entire show.

Listening to Colin and Greg Miller talking about the Sony press conference and they're almost completely 180 degrees opposite of what GB came away feeling. They're very excited about almost everything they revealed... I totally understand why most of GB was down on it, but it's also reasonable for a lot of other people to be very happy with what they saw.

I know it won't ever happen, but the internet should embrace the fact that other people have different opinions than themselves.

You sure know how to sound like you're better than everyone.

Seemed like a E3 made demo though with unlimited ammo. I think it was planned.

In the wake of the Orlando disaster, I don't see how a cowboy shooting up dudes would be too offensive to showcase........especially if you've already had a Call of Duty astronaut shooting up dudes.

I also don't necessarily get why everyone wants trailers from start to finish.
Sony barely felt like a press conference. It was confusing when they were transitioning from one section to the next.

And i think this is what Jeff was saying too.

Everyone on gaf is like "GREAT no one talked! All trailers!"
But a lot of Sony's stuff I wanted some explanation. I wanted someone to talk me through some points.

Most disappointing game: Scalebound
Most hyped for: Horizon. Zero dawn and Forza

That's what the show floor and daily stage streams are for. I imagine nearly every game shown tonight will be on multiple sites' stages and will dive into those details.

Plus I think the demos and trailers did an excellent job showcasing those things without someone beating it over your head.

At this point anything zombie related is just noise to me. Can we just fucking move on from this stupid thing? Ugh. They're boring to fight, they've pretty much lost any shock value at this point, and yes, humanity is the real monster, i get it. I really do.

I guess I'm officially "Jaded"(tm) cause nothing that was shown in the last two days really did anything for me...

There's some games I'm curious about (BF1, TF2, Dead Rising 4, Forza Horizon 3, Grow Up) but even those...

I didn't go "ohhh shit" once.

Really fucking bummed by the lack of new Back Compat games, the total absence of Rockstar, etc.

I dunno... I'm kinda in a shitty place in my life lately so I'm sure it doesn't help but I'm pretty bummed about the whole E3 so far.

A single person shooting up a saloon is rough just days after the event. I could see the media latching on to it and Take Two wanting to completely avoid any noise.

The Call of Duty stuff is pure science fiction/fantasy and not analogous to what happened.

Interesting. Wait and see, I suppose. It appears other rumors came true, down to Insomniac Spider-Man.

Yes. Please.

If you want a post-apocalyptic story, do an alien invasion of some sort. How about Terminator robots.

MS showed the games I'm actually interested in: Dead Rising, Sea of Thieves, and State of Decay.

Horizon is the only Sony showing I'm even remotely interested in, and it's a very remote interest. All the VR stuff was a total letdown except for RE7, but then I played the demo and it's hot garbage.

My bad, I forgot this was the internet and I should automatically act like a jerk to everyone else I interact with, much like you seem to do...

On a different note I hope that they show Zelda early enough to get GB's reaction before they have to go to the show floor. Have any detectives deduced who the special guest might be that the Beast Cast talked about?

That was a very passive aggressive response to a very innocent post.

And it shouldn't be strange that people won't agree with the Crew.

Besides that I personally can wait a decade or so for VR but people i listen to want to have these in their home. I still think that PSVR can be left to other gaming conferences, it clearly will still feature on the show floor.

"Everyone should get along."

"Fuck you, I'm fighting."

I kind of agree with the crew that the Sony event was a tad underwhelming...

Horizon obviously looks amazing and is the reason I will be buying a PS4 at some point.

God of War looked interesting but I still want to see more.

The rest of the show was all rather boring. The VR stuff didn't resonate, I could care less about Zombies and...yeah that was about it.

I would probably say that a dude with a revolver 120 years in the past has about as much to do with a 2016 night club shooting as a space man with an assault rifle 120 years in the future.

I don't see TakeTwo pulling any punches here, since they have no problem being agitators or the subject of controversy. Consider that the hippie flower children at Ubisoft were completely cool with their protagonist gunning down a dozen people or more in a mordern party/club setting for Watch Dogs 2.

i'll admit that i was down on their coverage last year, but i just watched the sony e3 stuff and it didn't seem negative or jaded or whatever at all. it was pretty much positive on a lot of things ranging from the changes to GoW / RE7 to some of the VR stuff and new announcements. it cut off during the spiderman thing so maybe it went all downhill after that, but i thought it was good this year. unless the thread was talking more about the giantbomb community, in which case i'll use microsoft's leak pr response

If you mean the special guest mentioned on the last beastcast, I've got bad news. It was going to be Peter Stormare, but scheduling conflicts caused it to fall through.

I'm in the same boat as you, man. Shitty place and all. I struggled to be enthusiastic about anything shown today or yesterday. Hell I don't even own a current gen console yet and was hoping something would tip the scales. Kojima's game has me curious but that's at least two years away. I don't know what to feel about this hobby anymore.

The people that run the PS I love you podcast are totally into Sony's conference? I'm SHOCKED sir.

The sony conference sucked. Horizon looked great, and GoW was refreshing, but the rest was multiplat, nongameplay, or just nothing (Crash remaster).

It was fairly negative in their rundown/roundtable after it ended. To be fair, you saw all the best parts. Most of it was kind of 'that's neat' at best.

I haven't gone back to see the response in this thread, but seems weird if people are saying the GB guys were super negative or anything. The way I saw it they were pleasantly surprised by GoW, amazingly positive on Horizon, largely positive on Detroit with Drew being extra hyped in the back (I can't being myself to be optimistic about a David Cage game), not at all positive about that Zombie game but that's not surprising, mixed on RE7 so far but really intrigued by the VR stuff with that one, meh on Spider Man but then again they don't really care about most super hero stuff. They seemed baffled and amused by Kojima's music video, and they all disagreed when Alex said they should've explained it a bit better. They were super critical of the VR bloc. I'm probably forgetting a couple of things.

I don't really agree with them on the criticism of the presentation outside of the VR stuff, but who cares. To me they were largely positive about it with Horizon being game of the show if they had such an award. Obviously others were more positive I imagine.

Anyways, gonna try to get a couple of hours of sleep.

No doubt they planned to show it. I question that it was originally planned to be the show closer.

I dont recall now, but was there any special auditorium lighting or motion graphics on the other screens? That shit is typically choreographed pretty tightly I'd imagine

edit; or I guess it wouldnt matter if it was meant to be the second last thing and got bumped to last when RDR potentially was pulled (not that I believe it).

Since every Xbox game seems to be coming to PC also, what are the chances that games that are still console exclusive get releases for Windows 10? I'd love to play the Halos and maybe Sunset Overdrive, but if there aren't going to be games I need an Xbox for in the future it's kind of a hard sell for me.

I expected it to be someone from Nintendo or a big Japanese dev, but Stormare would have been great. Shame had to cancel but at least they were able to say who it was.

Maybe next year.

Looking back at another thread, I think it's looking likely that the Days Gone demo was a last minute replacement for Red Dead. Apparently there was a scene where a brothel/saloon is shot up with innocent people being killed. Obviously, out of all the violent stuff that was shown, that would've probably felt the most tasteless considering the massacre in Orlando. It seems Rockstar did not have time to create an alternate cut of what they planned to show. While this does seem plausible to me, I see one little wrinkle. Couldn't they have still made some mention of the game without the demo? Maybe a logo or something? I'm sure that would've been enough for some people. And then they could've teased a trailer (a newly edited one) that will post later in the week. That way they could've had the "announcement" during the conference to get people hyped, but have the time to cut together are more respectful trailer.

Yeah, I don't buy that stuff without seeing any evidence.
