Giant Bomb - Extra Life 2015 | Give Money to Children's Hospitals

I remember loving a lot of Far Cry 2, but my copy on the 360 got hit by a game breaking bug. Every time I tried to load my save, the game would crash. After aiming for 100%, and getting near the end, to have that happen....I felt very deflated and never went back to it.

Austin is absolutely nailing playing a game and talking about that game live on a stream prompted by what the chat wants to talk about.

Really enjoying his talk about Far Cry.

The way Austin talks about games makes me think he could get any game he wants on the GOTY list if he just talks about it like he is right now about Far Cry 2.

In terms of GOTY it comes down to what is fun. Even if he can make an argument that something is a good game, if the other duders didn't find it fun then it won't make it. I want to see Jeff vs Austin since Jeff is also quite charismatic when talking about games.

Far Cry 2 was pure garbage. I tried, I really did but nothing about that game grabbed me.

Thank god for FC3 and 4. and 1.

I keep Far Cry 2 installed all the time because it's a real chill game to just jump in and explore once in awhile. I liked FC3 and 4 but 2 is a special and unique game, especially for an AAA.

I love the world design and the map.

Austin was saying earlier today (tonight...?) he doesn't care so much about the result as the process. Like he wants people to articulate why they want something to win rather than wanting a particular thing to win.

That's great to hear.

Imagine if Austin talks about a game that is also fun... unstoppable.

What they should do is have Austin call in on the people in the SF office towards the end of his shift via Skype and transition that way, that'd be cool.

I was on the Austin's the best bandwagon but then he said that he didn't like Mario Galaxy and platformers in general so now he's basically my mortal enemy. (Austin's the best)

Austin is so articulate in his reasoning that he won't easily accept vague bs like "because it's fun" "because it's interesting" and "because I liked it the most" as reasons for why a game should make it on the GOTY list. Coincidentally, these have been traditionally the three central pillars of Brad "filibuster" Shoemaker's GOTY argument. :lol

At least that part should be fun to listen to this year.

God damn I'm psyched to see Jeff and Austin interact come GOTY. They're both incredibly passionate about their views in completely different ways.
GOTY is going to be killer this year best lineup of Duders since the OG crew

Nobody's perfect :p

It's nice how Austin likes a ton of stuff that the rest of Giant Bomb would never even acknowledge the existence of otherwise. Makes me hopeful that GOTY will be something more than arguing about which AAA game doesn't deserve it the least.

My question is how fast does he back down? Dan is stubborn but he didn't argue too much over what games he wanted. He didn't have that edge that makes Brad and Jeff such powerhouses during GOTY. Will Austin be the same way, or will he be willing to get down in the mud?

Find out on the next episode of Giant Bomb GOTY 2015!

But I think he will be a little more vocal than Dan, how vocal is still to seen but I don't see him backing down if he really likes something.

Austin's stream has been consistently interesting, his Q&A offers some real reflective insights and he continues to be good at explaining and justifying his opinions in an interesting way even without sleep. Really, really impressed.

To be honest, even if he wanted to I don't think Dan has the eloquence to argue against the pillars that are Brad and Jeff.

Hey now, let's not pretend Brad always argues from a position of eloquence during GOTY. He got Destiny on there by sheer stubbornness.

Edit: We should probably avoid turning this into a goty discussion thread.

Austin is really really good at streaming. Best solo streamer. I honestly think it's because he has twitch experience.

Austin methodically talking through his sniper standoff with a bunch of enemies in Far Cry 2 while soft jazz plays in the background is basically the best. It's like the end to a noir cowboy movie or something.

I just woke up and was going to start watching when they switch over to San Fran. Are they all streaming to YouTube? I find that works better than the regular streamer on my tablet.
