Giant Bomb - Extra Life 2015 | Give Money to Children's Hospitals

What did Austin think of Tales From The Borderlands? I'm in the UK so I was asleep when he played it

He liked it, and the chat turned from complaining about it nonstop to actually liking it, and wanting to continue the series

Everyone who gives this series a go has the same opinion I think.

That's good to hear! Its easily one of my favourite games of the year so far. Best thing Telltale has done since Walking Dead Season 1

If anyone else is having streaming problems: I was having trouble with youtube last night in chrome. Audio would play fine and then video would stutter and pause for a few seconds and then speed up and catch up to the audio. I uninstalled chrome and reinstalled it and that fixed the problem.

Back from the thing I had to do after sleeping. So, the games he played so far from what I gathered thanks to danm999.

1. Galak-Z
2. Invisible Inc.
3. Vermintide (with Vinny)
4. Star Wars Conquest (A Mount and Blade Mod)
5. Tales of the Borderlands.
6. WWE2K16
7. Way of the Samurai 4

I'd say 1.5 to 2 hours went for each game? Star Wars Conquest seems like it went longer though? I don't know

Will be watching some stuff this evening, also registered on extra life, and will try streaming (though no camera for my PC) and raise some money as well.

I am vibing 100% with Austin rn. Platformers don't do it for me anymore. Grow Home is the only one I've liked in forever, not counting like, Spelunky. I can recognize Galaxy is an amazing game or w/e, it just... bores me.

But what did you play when you were like, 5? Thats kind of all there was around during the NES/SNES era for kids. That was the licensed game genre of choice.

I guess it depends on the era.

When I was 5 years old I was already playing games like tekken 3, ridge racer, ff7 & re2

What?? No Armored Core or Gundam game?? I thought they were on his list.

I would like to see more obscure titles than some of these modern games tbh.

Edit: my wish granted! Virtual On here we gooo

So I played like 3 or 4 platformers as a kid.

Mario Bros 3. was good, still good.
Aladdin on the SNES
the jungle book on the SNES.

Can't remember more. I played a lot of SF2 and Lufia 2 on SNES. Then I switched to PlayStation and stayed there. I liked the gamecube, but never played any platformers, 2d or 3d, on it.

Austin's next game is, Cyber Troopers Virtual-on Force . Also, he has a Encyclopedia Bombastica episode finished but not edited so we should see it sometime this week on the site? The complete list as of now is:

1. Galak-Z
2. Invisible Inc.
3. Vermintide (with Vinny)
4. Star Wars Conquest (A Mount and Blade Mod)
5. Tales of the Borderlands.
6. WWE2K16
7. Way of the Samurai 4
8. Cyber Troopers Virtual-on Force

oh man for a second there I thought he was going to say he didn't like Akiyama and I was going to be so confused.

The Yakuza 5 QL is going to be awful. game takes like 2 hours to get going and you know they're just going to start at the start. so it'll just be them going through boring tutorials and cutscenes.

That's not really their fault. That's just the game. But yeah Yakuza 3 had the same problem, that game starts boring as shit. I don't really have much patience for games that take x hours to get good any more.

totally not their fault, unless they wanted to put in a bunch of hours beforehand (in a game that nobody there actually cares about). To me it's more of a question of "why bother?" it's ok to not cover everything sometimes.

Jeff dropped some SF details. Brad got Overwatch beta access
give it to me
so he'll be doing that, and Dan will be making Mario Maker levels for most of the stream.

Austin's next game is, Far Cry 2. It was going to be Phantom Dust but sadly his Xbox 360 is not updated to play PD.

1. Galak-Z
2. Invisible Inc.
3. Vermintide (with Vinny)
4. Star Wars Conquest (A Mount and Blade Mod)
5. Tales of the Borderlands.
6. WWE2K16
7. Way of the Samurai 4
8. Cyber Troopers Virtual-on Force
9. Far Cry 2

Hopefully he'll be doing that off-stream, and he can show a level off once it's complete. Super Mario Maker is good, but I think we've seen that enough on Giant Bomb.

Well, I could certainly go for more Giant Bomb makes Mario so I don't agree. The first two streams were the funnest things they've done all year. Time to go for a third.

I wanted to like Far Cry 2 so much. I just couldn't :(

I liked it but there are many things that annoyed the shit out of me so I stopped playing it. Half way through the game it just felt like a chore to do things and when a game feels like a chore well it's time to stop playing.

Yeah, I love it in theory but the game just feels like too much work for me to really like it.

Also finally able to watch Austin's stream! Ready for the last hour and then GB SF's stream.

It's an incredibly rewarding game once you've put some time into it, I've beaten it twice now and it's really unlike anything else, it does a lot of cool stuff. But it is hard to get over the hump of feeling overwhelmed to actually feeling like you can do cool stuff.

Far Cry 2 is an annoying game. One of those games where you play it and feel like the game itself is constantly trying to piss you off on purpose.

That's what I like about it, it harsh as hell but once you get the upper hand it's really really satisfying. The Dark Souls of shooters™

There definitely are good ideas in the game. But then there's things like malaria and respawning guard posts. And the open world just feels like a bunch of corridors stitched together which I hate so much in an open world game. The marker is right next to me, but I have to go around this cliff to get there. Even MGSV does this sometimes and it's infuriating.

Shooting feels great™ though!
