Yeah it sucks, but let's not pretend this isn't chat's own doing. Any time a female appears onstream the chat goes to hell and doesn't recover for hours. For free streams especially, crazy cooldowns are the only way to stem the tide of crude, creepy, and malicious comments. It's a bummer that it's necessary at all, but, hey, anonymity does bad things to people.

It was downright embarassing to be a part of chat while the Fullbright dev was on yesterday--the chat instantly went to "female spotted" mode.

Read/watch reviews. Giant Bomb's own Jeff Gerstmann wrote one. You'll get better answers from those than an extra life thread.

Some people like it some dislike it. You'll get a more nuanced answer on if the game is for you from reviews and videos. I don't recommend basing your console purchase decision off people's comments about viewing someone play a game. Watching others play it != playing the game.

to me, the solution seems pretty simple, since it's already been implemented a ton of other places. mods block or ban idiots, and their comments are immediately hidden.

or if you wanted to get really fancy, have some kind of rating system. user has been a member for x amount of time with y number of warnings/reports against them, etc and have it adjust for that.

dropping a blanket 5 minute cooldown on everybody kind of defeats the entire purpose of even having a chatroom.

They already do this. The problem is that with 2000 people you sometimes get a torrent and mixed in there is nasty stuff that the mods don't have the time to nuke.

I'd probably be all over getting one of those bundles I mentioned right now if there was anything on that console I wanted to play besides the MCC, 5, and Rare Replay, lol.

the fact that I didn't even know this existed I guess proves how poorly it works.

it's just weird to me how poorly they're able to handle this one specific aspect of their productions.

and man I'd totally play some co-op legendary Halo 3 right now if given the chance

On premium streams they tend to be more lax, for obvious reasons. Even then you definitely catch the odd comment or two before they disappear.

You can hold a semi decent conversation with the reply tab. But otherwise, yeah, it is like sucking on the hosepipe of the internet.

There is so much content in MCC well, worth it right now. All I got was a dumb t-shirt with my console. Right now they are giving games, controllers, and gift cards with the console. The bundles are nuts.

You are given an phrase and draw a picture.
For everyone else's pic, you submit a possible answer. People pick it, you get points.
For your pic, you want people to pick your (the real) answer for points.

I'm dangerously close to pulling the trigger on one, but my Wii U and PS4 not getting played much are giving me pause.

Drawful? So, you're given a prompt and you need, to the best of you ability, to accurately portray what you are told to draw. The real answer is always among the answers. You as the artist, want people to pick the correct answer, because when that answer is picked, you earn points. The other players put in their own answers and hope people pick their answer, earning them points. Any player who picks the correct answer gets points. As an artist, you are at a disadvantage, as the only way to get points is to draw accurately. Whereas the other players can create a bogus answer and guess the correct answer. Make sense?

just started the Until Dawn Playdate. knowing that Vinny already finished it by save scumming all characters is pretty hilarious. so silly. glad he did that to make it much more fun to see his reactions to what Alex does now.

Chat on GB should always be sub only - regardless of stream - and if you post something truly awful you should get a chat ban for a month. Basically like GAF. It would weed out horrible stuff, slow down the chat without the need for large cooldowns. If the mods are too forceful, they should be better informed of site policy.

To be honest, I am surprised the site still has comments and chat, as they are always destructive on all sites. People will always be asshooles on the internet.
