Here you go! Won't be hard to better my squares!Do you have a blank one?
I don't even know what they meant when talking about that Battlefield e3 mess?
Yeah, wow, I had never heard that story before. Sounds like he was almost fired for taking the same stance that eventually did get him fired 7 years later. Apparently GameSpot had higher-ups from the very beginning who didn't give a shit about the integrity of the editorial process.Damn, Jeff was almost fired over the Shenmue score. Has he ever mentioned that before?
Yeah, funny that. When GB joined CBSi they made the point of saying the K&J issue was down to shitty transitional management. Guess that was an oversimplification.Yeah, wow, I had never heard that story before. Sounds like he was almost fired for taking the same stance that eventually did get him fired 7 years later. I mean how the fuck does the biggest video games website in the world allow themselves to just bump up a score from a 6.8 to 7.8 to appease the backlash from fans and Sega PR? Different times, I guess.

Jeff convinced me to play Superhot.
Good shit my man. I posted it in the comment section too for people to see.
I never listen to these going "They should think this way." But I am really satisfied with how the Hottest Mess category went.
A lot of people do have those preconceptions, not just on GAF (and not just about GB). But the second half of your post is exactly why they started recording their entire deliberations, so everyone knows the thought process that went into it, whether you agree with it or not...!I never listen to these going "They should think this way." Me too, Alex's arguments for this and bets styyle gives me hope he will be making good arguments through this process

Overwatch is my own GOTY.I actually think there's a chance Overwatch takes GOTY. Dan could be the one to swing it in that way and when DOOM (which I still expect to win) was brought up in today's deliberations, Jeff seemed more hesitant on it than I thought he'd be (complaining about the glory kills is a key example).
Yep!In my opinion Alex is always the MVP in these discussions, he always ends up conceding most points because he's in the minority, but he always brings it in the arguments up to that point.] Yep, that's why every year, first thing I do is listen to the podcasts. Won't check my phone or computer until it's done. These podcasts are probably my favorite content they put out, mainly because I love the way these conversations end up. Granted, most years are rough to listen to, especially when it comes to stuff like best story or game of the year, but it's still one of my favorite things on the site. As I said earlier in the topic, I couldn't imagine watching these.
Overwatch is my own GOTY.
But they don't go for a happy medium on these things. Someone's #1 preference *will* win out.
I was at PAX and was *so sure* it was gonna be DOOM that I said as much to Brad in person.
But then the last few months of Hitman happened. And Jeff mentioned casually that he didn't bother to keep DOOM installed on the PS4 -> PS4 Pro transition.
The main thing from day one's deliberations that made me pause for thought was where Hitman appears on Dan's top ten list.
That said, I still think it'll be Hitman. And it'll *definitely* be it or DOOM.
any out of nowhere spoilers in this first podcast, and if so timestamp? thx
Alright, maybe we should go back and just say Oculus in general was the hottest mess of the year after this http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1328386
Its good. Play it in one sitting, its 2-2/12 hours long

This year definitely has more games that could justifyably be their GOTY on their own merits, so the discussion metagame will absolutely come into play more, I agree with you there!I don't know. I think Overwatch will get a lot of argument as "the multiplayer shooter everyone played" and I think opponents of Doom in the discussion will attack the MP being so terrible. We have to remember that last year Dan and Jeff agreed wholeheartedly on GOTY being Mario Maker, so we don't know how voraciously Dan will argue against say Doom or even Hitman.
In terms of story? None that I recall...]any out of nowhere spoilers in this first podcast, and if so timestamp? thx
Man this Hitman video is making me laugh. Having these longer videos is great.
Not that I can remember. Spoilers will probably mostly come up during best moment and best story, and of course when they discuss the GOTY list.
