Boy I love going to the shitholes of the internet and seeing the reaction to Luckey being the hottest mess. Good time for consuming popcorn.

Some of those shitholes apparently already leaked onto their comments section.

And you know what? Good. Pissing off garbage people means you're doing something right.

It's too bad that they ended up cutting
Bound
from Best Styyyyyyle.
It seems like that game didn't get enough recognition this year, even if it is almost intrinsically unappealing to a large subset of gamers.

I keep hoping someone on the staff will play Rainbow Six: Siege and then get everyone else hooked so we can watch Giant Bomb play multiplayer.

Definitely deserved the spot over

I don't get why everyone besides Jeff and Alex is scared of talking even a little bit about politics. Dan didn't even say "I agree" after Alex's amazing argument about Palmer.

Remember that last year they all dismissed Siege and Jeff started acting like it was a $60 F2P game with pay to win mechanics.

Woah man Palmer Luckey winning hot mess is like, unexpected I guess?

But yeah at some point I agree that this shit is bigger than video games and yeah, fuck all of that.

Respect to the team for that choice.

Unfortunately, not talking about politics is just something people learn not to do. Especially in this industry looking at the comments.

They all absolutely despise the "meme magic" and alt-right propaganda machine that Luckey was contributing to. That's the real thing they are aiming at, not his actual vote. People probably won't see that, though.

Yeah, even people that aren't alt-right fuckheads want stuff to be apolitical.

Haven't finished the segment yet but Vinny talks about it. Alex and Jeff get at the meat of it.

Really glad that the
unmaking of Palmer Luckey won Hottest Mess. Definitely deserved and so happy Alex fought for it hard and managed to get Jeff to think about it and get him on board. Games launch broken every year but it isn't every year you have the head of a company fund a group full of white supremacists so they can use "meme magic" to help get an unqualified, horrible, demagogue elected and then try and back-pedal and say it wasn't you after you had already confirmed to the ones who broke the story that it was you!

I liked how everyone (except Dan) had something to say about the Luckey thing.

dont think anyone on the crew liked it

I feel Vinny would be the only guy into that and...well....a new Battlefield game came out this year so..... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They don't even stream themselves playing multiplayer of games they do like, let alone games they don't.

Remember that last year they all dismissed Siege and Jeff started acting like it was a $60 F2P game with pay to win mechanics.

Ah, I see, thanks. The Hitsmas video is hilarious chaos so I figured watching them try to coordinate attack and defense in Siege would be entertaining as well.

Chuck

Still without luck
I'm sooooooooo glad they decided to beat down Dan by putting the witcher up and killing star dew.

Only because that means he's gonna fight for Overwatch on day 5!

I was talking about their site's comments, which is their main audience.

Ehhh... as someone who has followed GB for years there has always been problems with the comments on their website's video pages. Any time Patrick posted an article that was talking about some social issue relating to games was a cesspool. I like the GB community, they do some really cool shit but I stopped even quickly looking at the comments on videos.

Oh well that is unfortunate. I admit I've never really looked at the comments on their site videos.

Compared to pretty much every other gaming site, the GB comments are pretty civil when it comes to this stuff. Pretty strict moderation and banning a lot of people over the years will do that. But at the end of the day it`s a gaming community, and gaming communities REALLY hate politics (that they don`t agree with) in their video games and video games coverage... so there`s a fair bit of that in the GB community too unfortunately.

GameSpot and IGN probably have the worst comment sections of any gaming sites, which isn`t that surprising. GS does not seem to moderate their comment section much, so every time there`s a story about something even related to social issues their comment section approaches YouTube levels of toxicity.

I've heard there are hidden stuff inside each level that adds to the storyline. Do I need to find this stuff?

You don't *need* to as the main campaign tells a pretty complete story, but I think just searching for those secrets adds a ton to the game. They are basically in what would otherwise be considered out-of-bounds areas of the levels, and honing your sight to scan a level and realize where you can get out of bounds is a skill unto itself and something I personally find very rewarding. And then the game kinda starts messing with you in a meta sort of way for secret hunting that I found really exciting and makes the whole thing worthwhile, regardless if the final reward for finding them all is substantial or not (I have not found them all yet). I'm sure it won't resonate with a lot of people like it has for me, but listening to Jeff opine over Superhot was the best part of the podcast for me because it's exactly how I feel. Superhot is *so* good in every facet.

Fantastapotamus

Wrong about commas, wrong about everything
I'm so happy
Palmer "won"
, if only for the comments

Whenever you start to think Giant Bomb might start acting logical again because they lost some "hero of the marginalized" like Walker or Klepek, remember they are deeply entrenched San Franciscan brainwashed libs like the vast majority of the games media
(SPoilers don't work for quotes, soo....this isn't me saying this)

Good on ya Alex, you did good.

I'm currently listening to the final discussions for the Hottest Mess. Hooo boy, that is an awful lot of silence from the group as you can tell they're trying to mull it over in their heads how to address the whole Luckey thing.

For the record, I'm very happy he was selected as the hottest mess. Nothing else even came close.

Superhot is good at making you feel like a badass all the time. Like everything you do in that game is awesome and feels cool as shit.

It also helps that everything you can think of doing, you can do. You can cut that bullet in half. You can punch that guy in the face, take his gun midair and pop the two guys next to him in one fluid motion.

Titanfall 2 gives me the same feeling.
