Giant Bomb GoTY 2016- Agent 47, take out that Doom Marine

The best story segment was long and boring. Basically just Alex being dense and repeating himself over and over with no more better arguments.

Also the
prophet thread title!

I keep considering Titanfall 2 but I don't have much faith in the longevity of the PC multiplayer population considering the first game and the apparent lackluster sales. I'm not paying $30 for a 5 hour campaign.

Edit:
Actually, between BF1 and Overwatch, I don't even have time to play the MP games I'm already into.

The Jeff heel turn has been telegraphed for a while so i'm not sure why people are surprised.

Instead the real surprise is that he championed Hitman instead of TitanFall 2 or Superhot

I find it funny that Hitman won GOTY, yet the actual physical release has not released yet (out in January). That really shows how digital releases have changed everything.

I find it odd that it is being sold as a full $60 game, when it's consistently been priced at $30 over the past month on PC and consoles (albeit digitally only). I wonder how quickly the physical release will drop in price.

Titanfall 2 was expected but it turns out his mission wasn't to build up his personal favorite. His actual mission was to rip out Brad's still beating heart and Titanfall wasn't going to get him there!

Jeff is smart and picks something he knows can win rather than his favourite.

If Brad did the same and backed Rocket League in 2015 he could have knocked Mario Maker off the throne.

Mario Maker was always going to win, no matter what Brad did. And it deserved it.

Jeff chose the knife. Brad chose the bat. That's the difference in their approaches these last two years.

The intro bits to these videos are as great and dumb as any skits. When Austin says his shirt is about Marxism, Dan makes a face and goes "That's not festive!" that just made me lose my shit.

YOU MEAN LIKE WHEN HE SAID HE HAD DOOM OVER HITMAN AND THEN ON HIS LIST HE HAS HITMAN OVER DOOM

I don't know what you could mean.

These deliberations were almost a month ago, things change. Even Jeff said he changed things on his list a few minutes before it went up.

Wasn't a fan of Brigador as a game, but listening to this album on Spotify: damn it's some good music.

Listening to it, that main theme reminds me of the Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon music. Despite preferring video game soundtracks with traditional orchestras, it sounded really, really neat.

Now I want a Doom Soldier elusive target lol.

Edit: Actually Doom Guy would probably murder Agent 47...or would he?

You know what would be a neat target? Some of the Giant Bomb guys themselves. As the devs know they are really big fans of Hitman, what if (as a tribute), they include some of the guys as targets? Imagine Brad having to take out a Brad-esque analog. Imagine having to take out a Dan-esque analog. Jason would probably be first in line to play that mission ;P

Just finished listening to all the podcasts. Enjoyed how they handled the game of the year discussion happy for Dan,Alex and Jason on the top ten.

Idk, his argument in hottest mess was amazing and probably the only good thing I've heard from him during the GOTY podcasts since I start listening to them back in 2012, but I am halfway through the last day and god he's been so annoying during the first two categories, seriously...
His argument in hottest mess single handily gets him the MVP in goty imo

Quite the snub for UC4 but I guess it got its dues in Best Story.

An amazing gaming experience, for me.

Haven't finished it yet just got a PS4 a couple weeks ago so far its incredible.

But it never really seemed like a game they would champion for. Which honestly makes me like their list more since it seems like it genuinely is a GB top 10.

Every time they made the point of how the gun play in UC4 is very average it made me sad. UC4 FINALLY figured out stealthy gameplay to an extent so any opportunity I had to solve a fight with stealth I did it. Going brush to brush to grab a guy and choke him out or quickly kill someone before diving back underwater was SO FUN. The previous uncharted games tried to have stealth kills but the moment something was alerted to you every enemy until the end of the fight had a homing beacon on you.

Its no big deal though, nothing will ever equal the lack of love Witcher 3 got last year. RIP.

Seems so but he has also shown we he needs to go in for his game then he will go in.

His misdirection on Rocket League was pretty damn good (along with his ice cold gutting of Life is Strange)

It was a good move for this year though since i think Hitman deserves it after that discussion.

I don't know if it was just me, but Jeff didn't seem as apathetic towards Rocket League as he has in the past. While he said he didn't care that much for Rocket League during the GOTY deliberations, the rubber match video was clearly filmed after that. Now granted, in the middle match (or was it the first?) he was quite sick, so that probably soured his impression of the game. But in the video today, he seemed to be enjoying himself quite a bit in a way he didn't in the past with the game.
