All I did was search his username on somethingawful and literally the first two posts were from the "Post Your Favorite Ban/Probation" thread. The other two were Sports mod Gendo saying "Maybe you should stop shitting up the Wii U thread" and Zomodok, a guy who revels in shit posting, calling him an idiot. A perfect batting average

I like SA for all the awesome videos it produces, but they're on YouTube, so the forum itself is kinda worthless to me whilst I still have my GAF account. Not that they are interchangeable, but I feel like two forums would just overwhelm me.

That's exactly how I feel about SA; I generally like the video content they produce so... there's not really a point in paying for an account since I can talk about games and other content on GAF. 'Sides, I like it here.

I feel like the forum rules are pretty decent despite being strict. There are some times when I feel like the moderation is somewhat strict (for example, there are instances where a user was put on probation for saying "first post on X" or something), but at least it somewhat curbs the idea of namecalling or not contributing something significant to the thread. Instead, it encourages users to think before they post, be more reasonable, and put more effort into their posts, rather than posting the first thing that springs to mind.

GAF feels like home.
 
So I am really starting to like Alex's stuff.

Its well written and thought out and he seems to actually write more news stories for the site then the dedicated news guy.

Something Awful is pretty great tbh. Their smart-to-idiot poster ratio is much higher than most places, and they probably have my favorite games forum. Just a whole lot of nice effort posting going on.
 
I can't get any videos on the site to load any more.

I understand they're trying to get the new site going but come on. It's bullshit to be a paid subscriber and yet unable to access subscriber videos. This has been going on for at least a month and it's only gotten worse.

All of their video player stuff always seems to be broken. Can anyone else not pause using HTML5 without it losing the video a few seconds after resuming?

I would use the other formats, but you can't skip ahead, which is obviously vital if you're watching a 2 hour long video in chunks.

I use youtube whenever possible.

I emailed the support about it but never got a response (surprise, surprise)

Downloading them doesn't work, either. It crawls. Right now the ETA to finish downloading the 1.3 gig version of Unprofessional Fridays is 7 hours. I have a 75 meg FIOS connection. This is retarded. I've tried in OSX, I've tried in Windows, I've tried with Google DNS and without. It's all shit.

If you use a download manager it usually goes much faster. I use jdownloader.
 
I'll admit it, I love GB's content. From Patrick's stories (when's the next Spookin!), Jeff's cynicism and hatred of the games I hate, to Brad acting like the little bitch he is.

But the site's performance is really annoying me! They can't make the server switch soon enough. Seriously. If Netflix pulled this everyone would be up in arms. Why does GB get a pass? They aren't a backroom outfit anymore. This shouldn't fly.
 
I've bitched about it and as much as I'm fan of the site, if my membership were to run out, which it won't until Oct, I wouldn't renew it until the problem was addressed. That's pretty much all the power I have in this situation.
 
I'm from Australia and went to PAX East last year. Loved the Giant Bomb panel.

What are the chances of another panel at PAX East, as I am heading back again. I hope the guys come out here for PAX Aus too.

I'm sure they'll go to PAX east and do a panel, but PAX au is doubtful. Travel is probably too much of a hindrance.

Which reminds me that the raid isn't going to happen probably.

They're definitely doing a panel at East. Apparently they've already started planning it, which is unprecedentedly ahead of time.

For now yeah. When the new site launches I believe Dave has said it'll be for everyone.

Also worth noting you aren't actually missing much. The mobile site is fine but there are better solutions for watching video and such on a phone.

Don't like it? Don't watch it.

I regularly watch QL for things I probably won't be playing, takes a special kind of asshole to whine that they shouldn't do any more IOS stuff and deny it for those that do just because they personally don't like or dont have an IOS device.

If you want to be in the front, yeah, you need to show up early. Pretty much so early that you can't even line up yet.

But if you just want to get in, just show up like a half hour early and you'll get in.

As opposed to what, quicklooking game DLC and re-released games? Because that's all thats out this week.

You might not want IOS QL but I'd venture a guess that there are lots of people who subscribe to Giantbomb that do, I don't have an IOS device but I'd rather consume any kind of video content from GB than no content.

Thanks, I hadn't thought of that!

Thing is, for a site that is already putting up a limited amount (of generally great) content, going back and doing quick looks for year old games is disappointing.

But yeah, you're right. Maybe it's just increasingly not a site for me.

Didn't mean to be a dick but there is nothing out this week. I'd rather have more content than less content.

If it was a week filled with AAA game releases then maybe you'd have a point.
