Giant Bomb Thread #4: A thread of perceived slights

Obviously the direct reference to a mouse means it's a non-FPS PC game, but I can't see how Simcity would make you throw your mouse, unless cities can only be four square blocks or something equally asinine.
Maybe he had connection problems with the always online nonsense.

Upcoming PC games that could be totally, mouse-throwingly shitty:

SimCity
The Showdown Effect
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2
StarCraft II: HOTS
The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct

Tomb Raider is going to be live, I think on Tuesday.

No way it's sim city. That entire game is pleasant. And online issues wouldn't be a "rage quit"
When Idle Thumbs played the beta, it took them a half hour to get started. Sure, it's no longer beta, but it's not officially out yet either.

I'm definitely thinking the game is Bioshock Infinite. :(

Yeah I'm thinking so too. Over the week-end I've heard Arthur Gies, Adam Sessler and Jeff Gerstmann bitch about a game they are reviewing right now. Chances are that they are talking about the same game. Since all three are the EIC or Main Review dude for their own outlet it would point to a big game. Since Bioshock comes out in 3 weeks and it's been gold since last week it wouldn't be surprising that it's in the hands of journalists right now.

Then again, the reason 2K would send the PC version of Bioshock for a review are near zero but hey, who knows.

Whatever game it is seems to have given others problems, like Sessler and Arthur Gies (who I discovered while digging was one of those people who thought God of War 3 wasn't very good, which made me sad).

Jeff, Sessler and Gies all strike me as guys who would be likely to be reviewing a big game like Infinite. :(

Edit: Haha, what Magasoum said. :P

Because of the Drew picture: do you not need a motorcycle driver licence in the US? Sounded like he just took Alexis' bike and rode it.

There are plenty of way shittier games coming out before Bioshock that they need to cover. Bioshock Infinite review copies will also most likely be delivered for Xbox 360, not PC.

Everyone knows Infinite will be bad though so I doubt they'd be surprised or angry.

Of course you need a license, notice that they're in a parking lot.

Definitely in the it's-not-bioshock camp.

This Bioshock angst is hilarious. They're not talking about Bioshock guys.

The fact that it's a pc game is the only thing that disqualify Bioshock. Other than that I wouldn't be surprised if they had the game already. For example they received Assasssin's Creed 3 almost a month before release.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2, the shitty looking Walking Dead Activision game, and a potentially broken, always-online EA game are all coming out before Bioshock BUT NO LETS ALL WRING OUR HANDS OVER BIOSHOCK GUYS.

Bioshock is Unreal Engine and should run a lot better on PC, maybe they didn't send 360 versions this time. But I highly doubt it's that.

Some people are borderline praying that Infinite is underwhelming or disappointing, and I have no clue why.

I'm hoping it'll be GotY, everything I've seen of it has looked fantastic to me, I'm really looking forward to the game's release. This whole mouse-throwing thing has me worrying about if it's Bioshock Infinite, though. What if all of the internet people screaming "THIS LOOKS AWFULZ" are right? I would be sad.

lol really?

Like I said in my previous post, I don't think it's Bioshock but that doesn't mean journalists don't have it already.

And it's not Simcity since Arthur Gies is not doing the review for Polygon.

Edit: And for the record, I pre-ordered Bioshock over a year ago and I can't wait to play it. I seriously hope it's as awesome as it looks like but who knows. A lot of games that came out in the last year have been dissapointing and the game had a troubled developpement.

There's no reason it has to be the same game as the one Arthur is reviewing.

I'd vote for Starcraft and one of those no base building missions that Jeff has pointed out that he hates a few times recently.

But i think Brad would be more likely to review Starcraft right?

Well, Brad has been pulling a lot of review duty lately and he did mention on a recent Unprofessional Fridays that he'd like to take a break from reviewing for a little bit after Tomb Raider, so it wouldn't surprise me if Jeff did take it upon himself to review Heart of the Swarm.

yea, gotta be Brad who's reviewing it cuz he would know the changes that were made.

I guess nobody but me is going to even acknowledge the existence of Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 or The Walking Dead coming out in the next couple weeks, and how they're the obvious candidates for being a shitty game.

Personally, I think games from Blizzard, Irrational and Maxis aren't normally shitty, and I would be very skeptical of anyone saying otherwise, but again, that's just me.

Didnt disconnect once during beta. It might crack once the general public gets it. But it can handle journalists.

Were there any mechanics or elements that seemed borked at all? Do you really need other people and their cities to make your own city flourish?

Sim City seems pretty competent, albeit a modified form of what it originally was. So I don't think it's Sim City either.

Sure it's totally possible that it's Sniper or Walking Dead and that Jeff is trying it over the week-ends. I kinda doubt they would actually review any of those games tho. Unless it was Alex doing it.

Please continue to tell me it's all going to be okay.

I just figure Jeff wouldn't be likely to be covering Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2, or the Walking Dead.

I could definitely see it being the always on piece of SimCity shitting the bed, especially if EA are making last minute changes to the infrastructure prior to the official launch.

Well, I'm fairly confident Brad would be doing the Starcraft II: HOTS review, so I'd throw that out.

Have a feeling Ryan would be doing the SimCity review, given his absolute love for the franchise.

Could it possibly be the Walking Dead game? Sniper: Ghost Warrior doesn't seem like it'd get a review from Giant Bomb, but I could be wrong. Although part of me doubts that the new walking dead game would get a review either.

Good call, must be the Walking Dead FPS. I would've expected Alex to review that tho.

You're assuming Jeff was playing a game with the intention to review it. Sniper GW 2 is the kind of game I could see being delivered through PC to reviewers too.

I bet they're gonna give Alex the walking dead activision game to let him do his alex thing to it.

I thought the game was amazing in beta. And I only played in the first two limited ones.

I wish there was more foliage between buildings. And other small things. But I do think the game will be constantly updated.

Nothing seemed broken. A lot of people are concerned. About the smaller city size, but It really makes you plan/specialize your city carefully. You don't need other people (but it will be fun to!) but you definitely want to be running more than one city at once. Have an education city, and a gambling city. You want to specialize each one. Making a jack of all trades city will be challenging for sure

You are now connected

Building structures, laying down roads

You are now disconnected, you will be taken back to the main menu

5 minutes later

You are now connected

"What the fuck? All the roads I laid down are gone."

Put roads back down

Delete/destroy a school to build a better school in it's place

You are now disconnected

So far any frustration would come from having to be online to work on your city, if any maintenance or troubleshooting happening with EA servers I wonder what happens to current players and what's saved city wise.
