How you finding VR?
It's great, but as we all know the software just isn't there. There are glimpses of greatness in things like The Lab and Budget Cuts, but you can only do those so many times before they lose their luster. My Rift is arriving today and I'm taking that opportunity to get into the cockpit stuff that I haven't yet touched.
You were kind of getting a little weird when you were going into the types of technology used to explain why Oculus' controllers wouldn't be able to offer the same as Vive though... Or at least something along those lines lol
I think you're talking about during the Vive stream when Jeff was talking about how the Touch controllers came with "sensors" that did exactly what the Vive does, a statement that is wrong in three different ways. Regardless, I know I'm in too deep!

In too deep just makes me think of someone trying to simulate playing a vr game inside a vr game.

More like in Heavy Rain when the dude takes his VR glasses off and is still seeing virtual shit around him.

Speaking of HR, there's a bouncy ball in The Lab that allows you to do exactly this:

Got any good examples for people who have never played a Daek Souks title?

Brad straight up asks "Stray Demon, isn't that the one from DS1?" and Jason says "no I don't think so." Brad says the elemental weapon infusion at the blacksmith removes attribute scaling and Jason is like "uhhhhhhh idk maybe". Some stuff about guardbreaking being part of a a weapon's normal moveset in the past, when it never was. Just a grip of minor details that to the average person don't mean anything. It's not that they're wrong about it, it's that they're talking about it like they have any clue what they're talking about.

But again, this is all because I know just about everything there is to know about Souls games and I'm clearly not the target audience for a QL of a Souls game anyway. I've already beaten the Japanese version 4 times. It doesn't really matter to the layperson. But I don't know why they didn't just have Austin man the QL, since he's finished the game.

Those are some seriously minor gripes. Like you said, no one is coming to a QL for in depth explanations of game mechanics.

They probably wanted people who hadn`t gotten very far into the game to do the QL, that`s how they`ve usually done the QLs of Souls games I think.

edit These giant crab monsters looks like something Dan will enjoy.

Hey, I did say it's a pet peeve... I make no claims to being a reasonable person when it comes to MUH SOULS

I'll be honest. This is sounding a bit like it's veering into "crazy Souls fan" territory that we frequently jokingly lambast here.

I also don't think Jason is fronting like he's an expert in Souls. I know I couldn't tell you any of this stuff with clarity and I've played through all these games.

so you're saying there's giant enemy crabs

Glad to hear you're enjoying it even if the software isn't really there Sleeping. Surprised you haven't messed with the cockpit stuff already since that seemed like the stuff you was most interested in.

Has anyone on the crew mentioned playing Ratchet & Clank? I have to think Dan would be interested.
There was a mixlr after the last playstation experience where Jeff said it looked cool and one of the earlier Beastcasts had a discussion about the first trailer and I think they all thought it looked neat.

So, through random happenstance I listened to last week's Beastcast BEFORE the Bombcast. So I heard the East coast talk about Alison Rapp before the West coast. And that...was a bummer.

East coast had a nuanced but firm conversation on the topic, making the point that the timing of the firing sadly served to give those responsible for harassment the appearance of a win, emboldening their kind to continue their abhorrent methods.

The west were very clearly anti-harassment, but the 'corporations are corporations, oh well' tone to the whole thing was just way more defeatist. When it was brought up that Rapp claims she was within company policy the reply was kind of "Well I don't know about that" and that important aspect sort of dropped.

Worst of all, I googled her name to make sure I spelled it right here, and got a 'news' result from a website called GameZone who was claiming that she's an escort in Seattle? Fuck, man. Burn it all down.

It was dropped because we don't know what the 2nd job was so we have no way of knowing whether it was really within company policy.

I think the bombcast missed Alison's later clarification or something because Jeff was saying that it's a big leap to say the harassment had any impact on her when she had outright said it did.

Yeah, I get that. It's a he said/she said situation, and I'm not saying the West coast people were on the wrong side of this or anything. I just want to reject the attitude of "in a perfect world companies would back their employees but this is the world we live in" thing they repeated a couple times. Maybe it *IS* pragmatic, but I think that if more people took a stronger stand, maybe some good change would eventually come about.

it's probably worth mentioning that I'd be very careful with conversation about that topic at the moment since it's gotten even more touchy and all the threads were shut down. not that I don't trust the regulars, but that's not the type of crowd I want to draw in here at the moment

also if anyone MUST know what I'm talking about, you can PM me I guess

They said the elemental weapon infusion removes attribute scaling?! That's it. I'm unsubscribing.

On a happier note I guess, the Enter the Gungeon quick look got me to play it, and it's pretty fun. It's got that 'one more run' feel, and I can imagine myself getting much better at the game. I just hope that happens before I see all the guns, because that's a big draw. Ideally, I will get good enough to beat it just as I'm seeing the last of the guns and items.

comparing the busted mgscanlon link with a working one, seems like api-kun has been messing up the publication dates in the urls lately?

I didn't really want to get into it again considering it's done at this point but your comment makes me think internet 'detectives' did their thing so I guess I extra don't want to get into it again.

Internet is creepy

bingo. and since the mods said outright that detective shit = ban, then I assume discussing detective shit is also a no-go, so the whole topic has been shut down.

so about them Dark Souls, eh?

These are both true! Weapon infusions do in some cases remove scaling and the heavy shield bash does guard break. And perhaps they meant shield piercing in which cases that has also been a thing with the shotel and I think a few other weapons. I haven't watched the video, so maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but those things aren't really wrong. And seriously not remembering exactly which souls game a boss is from is kind of not crazy. Especially when said boss' name is the stray demon and he bears a lot of visual similarities to the Vanguard demon from Demon Souls.

and there are even cases of bosses appearing in more than one game, like the gargoyles in DS and DS2 for instance.

I mean you can't fault them for that type of confusion, not everyone is a super fan of the souls games

We about to have a dark souls knowledge duel in here

i've switched to low calorie popcorn so i can eat more of it with the salt being thrown around gaf these days

so anyway to ask again, who's got links to some good DS lore videos?

I don't want to wade through a bunch of mouthbreathers for an hour to find a good one.

The Bell Gargoyles and the Belfry Gargoyles are clearly different gargoyles. The Belfry Gargoyles have a lightning attack, the Bell Gargoyles don't. Although the gargoyles found in Anor Londo DO have the lightning attack, those are regular enemies, not bosses. You can also cut off the Bell Gargoyle's tail for a weapon, whereas the Belfry Gargoyle's tail is permanently attached.

Get your facts straight, bruh.

Also, EpicNameBro is better than VaatiVidya. And more likeable.

yeah but that whole rooftop fight in DS2 is like pretty much lifted from DS1 if you ignore the rest of the points you made. It was a total deja vu moment
