My point stands, though! Don't jump down someone's throat for using a word that has a totally different context in a different part of the world.
It felt to me like his original point was that we shouldn't think of this as some massive triumph for YouTubers everywhere as a bunch of people on Twitter were the day before. And I was surprised that everyone seemed to disagree. Then it all kinda went sideways as the arguments continued.
I agree, but I also think that they were trying to shoot down the cynicism because it is a big step--since there wasn't one before, and being overly cynical about things when you yourself haven't been in that position is a great way to be a jaded fuck.
