GirlGAF |OT 2| Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer's Eve?

Because of the discussion in the "A Personal History of Misogyny" thread, I was reminded of that study where over 75% of men said they would have sex, and none of the women said yes. I'd always wanted to know more about that study, and a few months ago I found out more!

Plot Twist~

Mumei, you have given me hope on turning heterosexual women. Yessss.

While I would say it's hard to quantify whether or not men want sex more than women, I think it's pretty hard to argue that, on average, men don't have higher sex drives than women. It's that testosterone, yo.

Watching the Phantom of the Opera and reading up on the sequel and man, this is some Twilight-level shit.

Still hot when Kark sings the Phantom's songs though.

I still need to watch the movie. As far as musicals go it's one of my favorites.

You should make Kark wear the mask. :p

For those of you who have waxed before, how long does it take for the hair to grow back? As in, if I have a date on October 10th, when should I get my ladyscaping done? My hair tends to grow back very quickly and I've never waxed before.

Maybe the rest of the body is different (I only get my face done), but you could end up with irritation for the first few days...

But then I found it again! It's very interesting.

On Women and Casual Sex - Part 1: The Pleasure Theory

The infamous study

The Criteria

So Why Aren’t Women Having More Casual Sex? (thank you, Dr Nerdlove for making me unable to think of anything else to put here)

I know, I know. "Tell me something I don't already know."

And here's part two; flings, one night stands, and same night lays.

Edit: ... I don't like some of part 2, since a few of the items sound rather PUA-ish, but I'm interested in hearing what you think sounds like good versus bad advice.

Interesting. I've heard that saying of 'women not liking sex' but not that 1989 study. It is that same flawed reasoning that perpetrates that 'women don't like porn' saying because it does not look into the sociological factors preventing women from responding the same way as men do.

I echo backslashbunny in saying that I would accept my friends over a stranger. Even the ones I'm not that attracted to versus a cute stranger. It's too much of a risk.

We were watching the 25th anniversary show on Youtube. We saw the guy who played the Phantom as Valjean in Les Mis recently and Kark has a bit of a crush on him. I saw the movie before seeing the play though, so I don't hate it like a lot of folks seem too!

I'm telling Kark he should dress up as the Phantom for Halloween! His name is even Erik!

Mother of.... I had no interest in this game (not a fan of AssCreed or Batman Arkham games and it's said to be influenced by both) but now I might change my mind. Damn. Who knew Talion was tailor-made for me? xD

He's also voiced by Troy Baker. Who is very talented but he's kinda in every game ever so... I dunno. I'm sure his voice will be fine, but if Simon Templeman voiced that character, I think I would literally swoon.

That sounds fun! ^^ It has been long enough since I saw the play that I feel like now would be a good time for me to see the movie. My main thing is that the performances are good enough; as long as they're good I will probably enjoy it.

Oh he must do it then! It was meant to be. :p I would like to dress up for Halloween, but alas I am just going to be sitting inside my house lol. (Stuffing myself with delicious candy.)

I pre-ordered it a couple of hours ago. An open world LOTR game with AC traversal and Batman combat sounds awesome. I'm glad to see it getting so many positive reviews too.

I think out of all of the movie musicals there have been, it's had the most consistent cast. Gerald Butler isn't a trained singer, but I think he does just fine as the Phantom.

Yo!

Back from isolation!

How is everyone?
Good, good. Had almost a week off from school and should have spent it studying Calculus III but instead I played with my new Wii U. GirlGAF should add me: BamWhamKaPau :D I only have Mario Kart 8 and Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze so far.

I loooooooove, love love how the female chars are properly geared <3 stellar work!!!!
I know right? So rare nowadays. I'm currently into a stupid argument about this in another thread, with people seeing nothing wrong with cleavage in an otherwise perfectly awesome armour and making all sorts of excuses ("she's a dragon! she doesn't need armour!" [but, she wears it anyway, just with cleavage!], "she just wants more mobility!" [then she wouldn't be wearing plate armour everywhere else, she'd just have lighter gear all around!], etc.). Le sigh.

you are fighting the good fight morri! o7

and yes, it is VERY rare. i wish it is not such a rare occurrence, but im grateful for each progressive step being made .__.

Okay that's good to hear. I'll make sure to check it out sometime then!

A mix of good and bad. Sometimes the bad seems to outweigh the good, and vice versa.

Health hasn't been good. I'm dealing with personal and school troubles. Sometimes it feels like I'm really close to sinking completely. But at the same time certain things are looking up. And hey I've done a lot of shopping; so at least I'll look stylish in all of this.

mine's finished like last week :< so im out of sync with y'all

also, dragon age's new companion picz amg *___* I loooooooove, love love how the female chars are properly geared <3 stellar work!!!!

also, dorian is mine *DIBS*

I still afraid to get my hopes up, but DA:I is looking much better than I expected. DA2 and the Mass Effect series got really bad with its female characters appearance wise. I'm glad that they've toned it down this time around.

My femShep was an absolute badass. She didn't take shit from anyone. Plus she boinked Kaidan (and then Thane) into next week on numerous occasions.

A shame that Garrus wasn't a romance option from the beginning though.

I watched my ex play Mass Effect, and I tried DA2 (couldn't finish, it was too bad), but I don't know what was so bad about the female characters?

I haven't played DA2, but DA:O wasn't that bad I thought. Morrigan is dressed rather revealingly, but I thought in that case it actually suits her character.
In Mass Effect the only female character model I didn't like was Samara. That's just too much. Miranda is kind of over the top as well.
FemShep also has boob armour, but I didn't mind that too much. She's still totally badass.

Some things are worth waiting for ;)

I REALLY want that sushi bag and that shrew shirt. The English major in me is totally nerding out.

Actually just curious what y'all thought. I didn't think about it too much, but I'd love to get everyone's thoughts on it.

Miranda (ME2) wore a skin tight outfit, which wasn't bad on its on but they included a couple of ass shots when you talked to her.

Jack (ME2) doesn't wear a shirt. Although, I think that it makes sense from a character standpoint that she would be the type of character to not care about being topless and be all "look at my sweet tats!", it made no sense for her to remain that way in space.

EDI, the ship's AI, was put into a sexbot outfit complete with cameltoe.

Liara, female Shepard, Ashley, got 'enhancements' in subsequent sequels. Bigger breasts for Liara, bigger breasts and ass for female Shepard, and makeup and high heels for Ashley when her character wasn't the type to be into that.

Diana Allers is character in ME3 whose sole purpose is for you to fuck her. She's based on Jessica Chobot who works for IGN which was scummy.

DA2 wasn't as bad as ME but a disappointment compared to DA:O, where the females had average bodies at least for a video game. Most of the female NPCs in DA2 had the same figure with giant breasts from the young and old which looked really silly on your mother and Merrill. The slut shaming from Aveline towards Isabela was gross too. I remember that it sounded very mean spirited even though it was played off as a joke.

That stuff is so distracting. I love the way Zelda plays in Hyrule Warriors, but her armor cleavage really sucks. At least you can get rid of it with DLC I guess.

Those are awesome. I want these, too.

Ahh okay. I guess I glazed over that.

Sometimes I have to remind myself that the reason why I don't see these things might be because I don't care, or because I'm so used to it that it doesn't even register anymore.

/sigh. I'd be a terrible feminist critic of games unless it was SUPER blatant.

I had no idea about Diana Allers, either. :(

I usually don't get upset at this. DoA, whatever. It's clear what the creators are aiming for. It just really hackles me when Bioware does it because so many people praise their games for having great writing and characters but their female characters often fall into the same trap of being over sexualized or having their character be compromised for some T&A.

Ugh that thread. I agree with everything you say there Morrigan. That thread gives me a massive headache though.
Thanks. Yeah I'm about to give up on that thread. It's just tiring to argue with people who simply refuse to engage in honest conversation and routinely misrepresent your points.

It also amazes me how often I get called a prude for bringing up things like that. Not wanting sexy armour on fighting women (not even witches and sorceresses or whatever, but warriors!) doesn't mean I hate sexiness in every context, jesus. I think my boyfriend would get a kick out of these guys calling me a prude, too... XD It's just such an easy way to try and silence someone you disagree with, I find it pathetic.

I couldn't play Dragon's Crown for this reason. I'm all for sex in virtually all of its varieties, but something about the depiction of women in that...I can't articulate it that well, but it just felt icky. Same reason I don't want to play the Metro games. I saw a review which showed the "strip club" scene. It just seems wrong. I can't explain it.

Ironically, Dragon's Crown was probably my favourite game of 2013. Despite the problematic art design, I really, really, really enjoyed it. It's so much fun. But yeah, the character designs are icky.

I've played a bit of Metro 2033 and enjoyed it too, though I wasn't all that enthralled by it so I haven't continued my playthrough, though I might at some point. I don't think I've gotten to the strip club scene (unless that's in Last Light) yet, though.

You offend their sensibilities with your aggressive prude-ing, Morri

Those poor, poor men. Their heads just cant process that women have our own ideas about how we want to dress and be represented.

NO, WOMEN. YOU GO BACK TO THAT CORNER ASSIGNED FOR YOU AND WEAR CLEAVAGEY ARMOUR THAT WAS DESIGNED FOR YOU. HMPH.

I found some of the artwork in Dragon's Crown really off-putting, too. I finally got it on sale because everyone here seemed to love it. But I ended up never having the sorceress or the Amazon on my party. I just didn't want to have to look at all the tits and ass pointed right at me. The other characters are OK I think, and I didn't mind any of the characters you meet during the game.
