I usually just block the guy immediately if he starts trying to show off when I barely know him. I sure as hell didn't consent to it, and I'd much rather would like to get a feel of you as a person first. It's not worth my time, nor my energy to try and reason with jackasses who have little regard to personal boundaries.

What bands? Somehow I can only enjoy metal with female vocalists XD

I love female vocalists! I've grown up listening to several (Nightwish, Arch Enemy, Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation, Eluveitie, etc.), and it's always awesome to discover more. :3

It's funny. Being raised under a christian family, I was constantly told about metal music in general being all lyrical satanic rituals of doom that will send me to hell if I so much as listen to it. I was too afraid to try to go out of my way to explore my musical tastes because of it, but as I grew up, I would start staying up to see and listen to music videos on several channels. Then Youtube came along, and I started discovering bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Judas Priest, Dio, Ozzy, Killswitch Engage, Iced Earth, System of a Down, and a bunch of others. Then music games (and Brutal Legend) started getting more popular, which helped open the door to a lot of other bands for me. Safe to say that I made up my own mind, and I gush over so many bands at once.

The thing with the dick pics is that, for reasons I will never understand, it is a "method" put out by a contingent of jackasses alongside various unsavory others---aside from trying to project an impotent sense of power and the other good points above, it is very much equivalent to firing wildly in the dark/flinging shit at a wall to see what sticks.

As such, so long as it somehow, someday "works" on somebody, or more likely that's the false supposition they are laboring under, then it doesn't matter how many people you horrify or trouble with your harassment---presuming it is even your own pic and not, as is often the case, sourced from a stock collection of photos from porn. Before I gave up on online dating on OKC/PoF/etc out of being doomed geographically, I definitely got a fair share of head shaking at stories some ladies had to tell after escaping the great net they had to cast against their inbox to ward against random old and young white guys who saw fit to inundate them with candid pics of black dudes as their master stroke to get into their lives/pants.

Haha yay. xD It allll started in the early 90's when I was a wee lass... *cough*

Well, my older brother got into metal as a teenager, so I was exposed to it from a young age. I didn't pay that much attention to the music he was playing (except that I enjoyed it whenever, but that's about it) until he gave me a tape called "Hard N Heavy" this one! cassette version at the time). I listened the hell out of it in my Walkman and now I could put names to some artists and songs.

Funny thing is that side A was metal artists, and side B was mostly glam rock artists, which bored the shit out of me... so I always ended up rewinding and re-listening to side A. My favourite tracks were the King Diamond, Judas Priest, Bruce Dickinson, Testament and Megadeth. Sadly, the Dio track on that tape isn't very good (they're all songs from circa 1990 and this was from their mediocre album Lock Up the Wolves) so because of that, I didn't get into Dio for a long time. Also the Priest song and some others are radio edits which sucked, but I didn't know better at the time. Oh, I was also heavily into Guns 'N Roses at the time. Funnily enough I seem to remember that was through school girlfriends, who liked their... ballads who were popular at the time (Don't Cry and shit like that). But I got into their heavier songs and didn't care for the ballads much, lol.

A bit later my brother made some mix tapes for his best friend who had asked him for recommendations... but turns out, friend was kind of a flake who never really listened to it, and my brother was a bit disappointed, but he gave them to me instead and I really got into them. Discovered tons of bands from Iron Maiden (which strangely isn't on that Hard N Heavy compilation but I did hear them a lot growing up still) and more Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Ozzy, Mercyful Fate, King Diamond etc., but now also Bathory, Paradise Lost, Anacrusis, Amorphis, Voïvod, Obliveon, Overkill, Slayer, Type O Negative, Metal Church, etc.

This was also the time where our music channel (our local equivalent of MTV I guess) had an actual hard rock/metal show before it got taken out in the mid-90's, so my brother probably got exposed to many of those bands via this show, along with stuff like Sepultura, Morbid Angel, and other more extreme/death metal bands that I didn't care for at the time (got into those a bit later). Then the Euro-metal scene exploded in the mid-90s and we both got into stuff like Bolt Thrower, Therion, Tiamat, Summoning, Samael, Storm, Skyclad, Blind Guardian, Dissection, In the Woods, Kreator, Dark Tranquillity, Iced Earth, Bal-Sagoth, etc. though of course I was too young to buy albums and he had some money by then so I'd listen to my favourite records out of his collection until I got my own money to buy them.

And of course in the late 90's came the Internet and things exploded even more and I discovered bands like Grave Digger, Candlemass, Manilla Road, Desaster, Arkona, Deceased, Moonsorrow, Jag Panzer, The Chasm, Varathron, and so many, many more, and it just hasn't stopped since. ^^


Edit: I find it mildly amusing that as I am writing this, I am actually listening to this record I just bought yesterday from Secret Sky, a band formed by the band members of Loreena McKennitt's... very far removed from metal indeed.

It's awesome though! It's basically Loreena McKennitt though with different vocals. Which are not as amazing as Loreena's, but then that's kind of an unfair comparison as no one can compare, but the music is pretty damn good if you're into this kind of Celtic/folk stuff and just crave more. Solid debut, highly recommended.

i used to have flat whites a lot but i've gone back to capucinno with 2 sugar for a bit then now im drinking caramel lattes.

i gave up coffee a year ago this month because like someone else here it started to give me anxiety. i used to be a moderate coffee snob (coffee in the bay area is really good) so i miss it.

i made the full switch to tea though! my favorites are yerba mate and english breakfast

Oh shit, you like Oddisee and Rapsody too! Beauty and the Beast was my third favorite album of 2014 and The Good Fight was phenomenal. Are you getting The Odd Tape tomorrow? I just started listening to Atmosphere and never got around to hearing more from Brother Ali other than Self Taught, Uncle Sam Goddamn, and his verse on The Dangerous Three. I think Psalm One is decent, but Hug Life had to be some of the worse stuff I've listened to. Sounds like she's catering to the mainstream crowd. A few other artists I really liked have moved that way as well and I'm hoping they're going to go back making good music.

I've been listening to him since getting Tidal. When it comes to music, I'm open minded. Also, at the time I only listened to like one or two albums. I've since listened to about 10 or so albums and watched Purple Rain.

I'd say getting bum rushed by Prince's oeuvre is weird at first. But he grows on you. And then eventually fall in love. I find the best music are things you're not a big fan of at first, but for some reason can't stop listening to it because you sense potential or you recognize there's something there to it that merits discovering its greatness. I think Prince was like that.

This is what it's like getting into a new genre or a new artist you're unfamiliar with. Sometimes all it takes to enjoy someone's music is to make it a part of your life, a habit, a soundtrack. I didn't like Metallica at first because I never listened to metal. Now I love Metallica and I'm more warm towards metal. Having an open mind is probably the most useful skill as a music listener and I love the entire journey of ones relationship with with a song, artist, album.

Primary music interests through life:

1-12 = Hip Hop + R&B
13-20 = JPop, JMetal, JPunk, Horror Punk, Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal, Black Metal, Alt Rock, Electronic musics (know nothing of genre's here.) , Jazz, and Swing.
21-27(Now) = If I think it sounds nice I'll listen to it pretty much although I usually listen to my game soundtracks more often now while before I didn't. I enjoy metal renditions of those as well or any kind of fun style really as long as it's done well. I think what I attach to the most is something that has some energy to it.

General preference though is it has some nice guitar in it I think I'll dig it.

Fuuuuck heels, hate everything about them, for me they're the best example of fashion over comfort and ease of use. Give me steel toe cap boots anyday of the week. Here's my holy quadrilogy of footwear...

Steel Toe Caps are comfy as fuck and fantastic for self defense. Used them a few times in the past. Kick somebodies knees or legs hard enough and they're gonna have trouble walking or even standing. The bear feet slippers? Well they're just stupid.... and stupidly comfy to lounge about the house with, plus they're cute!
