Did anyone actually watch the first one?

Here are some highlights for those who haven't:

A Muslim father finds that his daughter is listening to christian rock and reading the bible and beats her and kicks her out of the house. It coalesces with the atheist teacher being hit by a car and dying, but not before being saved through a last minute conversion by a youth group minister. The kids all convene at the local christian rock concert and have a blast.

No joke: my brother lied to some religious family members that he loves the first movie, and now a picture of him is on their fridge.

How are they bumping the atheist off this time?

Drowning

Burning

Great white shark

Impaled on own petard

Fire ants in pants

Snails in entrails

Conveniently timed heart attack

Death by snoo snoo

Lightning bolt

Tornado

Devil just walks into frame and snatches soul Shang Tsung style

It's like the Marvel post credits scene. You know it's coming.

My favorite still is "atheist being ran over by steamroller".

Hyped, the first one was so good. Easily some of the strongest writing in years, with many powerful moments. Sprinkled with keen insights and deep, thoughtful commentary, like from that country and western singer in the beginning. Or Nascar driver. Wrestler? I can't recall but Hercules was the bomb.

Good thing nothing bad happens to people who believe in God.

Ever.

No no no. God is good. And perfect. And sin is all part of his good perfect plan. It'll make sense but you have to think about it long enough to realize you shouldn't think about it.

Summary of the movie

Don't forget the Christian hero of the movie "wins" with a circular argument despite accusing Hercules of the same in an earlier debate, and also by dredging up painful personal memories.

I was a lurker at the time, but watched the movie because of Lionel Mandrake's review, so anxiously awaiting his followup.

Oh I did. Got it from Netflix, picked up some beer and watched it with two friends. Movie was nuts. I'm sure we'll do the same for this one in a few months. Not a chance I'd pay real money in a direct way to sit through this nonsense however.

Although I did get stuck seeing Bella in theaters several years ago on a date. I probably would have protested if I knew it had such blatant Christian content. Single woman is unexpectedly pregnant, and seriously considering an abortion. The chef at the restaurant she works at, and happens to look exactly like a Latino Jesus, is secretly atoning for at one point being a soccer star and running over a kid while driving distracted. They barely know each other beyond first name basis, but over a two day period he gets to know her a bit and commits to raising her future child by himself for like five years until she gets her life together and is ready to enter the kid's life and become a parent. That's exactly what proceeds to happen.

That was some wacky out-of-touch pro-life stuff.

Oh god, I forgot this movie was coming out this week. I had to listen to that shitty Christian rock music that plays over the credits for weeks on end. And if you want to watch horrifically offensive Christian movies, you should watch Old Fashioned. I only saw a few scenes when I was doing theater checks but man did it look bad. You should watch The Cinema Snob's review of it.

I would, but I made a promise to stay chaste until the Mandrake review.

TIL there's a Christian Netflix.

Y'all should check out their selection. Has more Z movies than actual Netflix.

Do a double feature of War Room and God is Not Dead 2. Give us two reviews in a weekend.

Cmon, War Room is from the genius filmmakers behind Fireproof and Courageous!

Haven't watched it yet. We'll see.

Goddammit, I hate Sherwood Pictures. The absolute worst. It's clearly just a Georgia church that got too much money and nobody ever told them, "Hey, you're not a fucking movie studio."

Lionel, my good friend. Please. Don't do it. We love your summaries, but no man should have to suffer through TWO OF THESE FILMS.

Lionel pls :(

I have to agree.

Watching the Cinema Snob review made me want to take a bath in battery acid.

I feel like watching the second one willingly might actually kill him.
