6.3

"Perhaps the worst part about GoldenEye is the fact that EA had successfully transitioned the Bond series out of the first-person shooter genre not even a year ago with the release of Everything or Nothing, which was a great action adventure game. Now, the company is right back to making substandard shooters with the Bond license, and this one even takes the name of the game that made Bond and first-person shooting such a great mix back in the day and drags it through the mud. Don't be fooled: This isn't the GoldenEye you remember playing on the Nintendo 64. Rogue Agent is competent at best, but mostly it's a subpar first-person shooter that fails to stand out in any way."

Did anyone actually think this was going to be any good? What was the name of the guys who developed Timesplitters? Why didn't they have them make Rouge Agent?

"OK team!!! We have the name "Goldeneye" and we're gonna make the true sequel to Rare's classic!"

TEAM: (Cheers)

"By the way, it's due in 8 months and you're gonna have to work Sundays until it's shipped."

TEAM: "..."

No surprise... the GC version should and will even score less, since it has two levels less (and no online play obviously).

I think, if you're a Bond fan and.... well, erm... if you're a Bond villain fan, they got all of them lined-up, so maybe that should be pretty exciting... :rolls eyes:

Not like I'd have bought the game anyway, but... say what? Why?

Fucking EA

it sucks that the make james bond shovelware that sells well because of the success of golden eye but now they even need to run the name into the ground.

Sadly this game will sell well

EA shovelware in their non sports games are coming back to the forefront.

Or perhaps reviews are finally starting to give proper scores?

How do you use RSS Wario?

He has a script set up where he can input games, and sites. And then the set sites review the set things a thread is automatically generated with a title, link, score, and summary paragraph. The scores are posted here no more than 30 seconds after the go live.

I'm sure someone here knows more than I do, but I suspect it had quite a bit more time than that in development. I could be wrong, though.

The funny thing is Nintendo had that little bit of preview footage on some ads about two months ago and I thought it looked pretty good! Shame it didn't turn out so good.

The natural follow-up question is, why?

Too bad, Everything or Nothing kicked ass.

Agreed.

I just don't understand how they could flush all that hard work of building up the franchise again into what I felt was a top-tier title, just to make a quick buck off the GoldenEye name.

EA has really disappointed this season.

Company high-colonic please.

GameCube Disadvantages
Two Discs -- Inconvenient, must switch discs for multiplayer
Compressed FMV -- The most noticeable artifacting of the bunch.
Extras -- Unlockable concept art movies not available

A seperate disc for multiplayer? Wtf? haha

I don't care what reviewers say. I'm still getting this game.

Well, by today's standards, it's probably better than the original Goldeneye 007...so at least you might have SOME fun. ;)

Wont sell that well. EA have made a mess of bond.

Its not even comparable to GE in gameplay to begin with. The only thing EA took is the name and added stuff to that :lol

I just got the PS2 version. Liking it so far. Tedious in some ways (controls), but pretty and polished in presentation.

Yeah i really liked 007 EON. That sold poorly for an EA game as well. Indications are that this new game will not do that well either. I think EA should leave bond.

Wow, not even comparable? I suppose this new game must truly be awful then...

Free Radical Design. :)

Not sure what "Rouge Agent" is, but it looks like they've got their hands full with TimeSplitters: Future Perfect right now. Now that is a first-person shooter worth looking forward to!

Hmm... does someone here work work for Free Radical perchance... ;)

EA has yearly updates to nearly all of their franchises. SInce Everything or Nothing was supposed to come out last year, I guess they figured they should still go ahead with another Bond game.

Hopefully EA will make enough sucky Bond games they'll lose the licence, Nintendo will get it back, then get a deal with Free Radical to make a game! :D (I can dream can't I?) Anyway bring on TS3!
