That's also on Firefox (with many more options using Save Session and Tab Manager).
Firefox is ugly and I can't stand using it anymore. I mean seriously ugly. Like they ignore all UI conventions. It's relegated to my porn browser. Also, Firefox does not have an iOS browser. This is why I use Chrome. Because there is an iOS Chrome and it works with the desktop browser seamlessly. Even more seamlessly than Safari does. I'd sooner switch to Safari than go back to Firefox.

Such as?

Also, if it's that terrible to look at, why not just set up a second user for Chrome and use that for your porn? (or incognito, of course)

Chrome doesn't have DownloadHelper. Which is why Firefox is for porn. I'd have to make a list of all my UI gripes and I just don't give enough shits to make that list. I'm not here to complain about Firefox. I'm here to discuss Chrome.

I'm happy with Chrome. Happy as a clam. Happy happy happy. Joy joy joy.

DownloadHelper is literally the only reason I keep Firefox on my computer. I can't believe Chrome doesn't offer access to the correct API's for there to make one for Chrome. At least that's what I guess.

The only Chrome I have that's crashing all the time is the iOS version. Thankfully session storing keeps me from screaming. Still, come on! No problems on the Mac version though. Except for the broken two finger swipe gesture. Fix that for the love of god!

Looks like they brought back the old new tab page. (And took the "other devices"/"restore tab" options out of the menu since it's back on the new tab page. Don't know why they can't leave both.)

Also the search box is back on Google instead of just using the omnibar.

Looks like they brought back the old new tab page.

Probably to make it consistent with Chrome OS, now that they're moving Chrome apps to a dedicated desktop program on other OS's.

windows-image-blogpost.png

(Not thrilled with this implementation, why not just integrate fully with the OS and have them show up in "All Programs" or whatever? Make it completely transparent to the end user.)

Also the search box is back on Google instead of just using the omnibar.

Figured that wouldn't last. They did add it to Chrome on Safari though, but it makes much more sense on mobile.

Does Andrex get paid for his Google endorsements?
He totally should.

Tried out chrome again but switched back after noticing gifs weirding out (on waterfox).

Does Chrome have tab grouping?

Haha, I wish. I do have to say that Chrome is far and away my favorite piece of software ever, though. I have a deep respect for it, having worked in webby stuff since before it ecame out.

Does Chrome have tab grouping?

Depends on what you mean. You can control+click tabs to have them all move around.

I just wish they had Tab Pinning that didn't suck. The kind Firefox has. Theirs is amazing.

But a pinned tab should A) lock itself to a specific website or optionally a single page, B) be closeable but still have the tab icon up there and C) when you click it again it will reopen right back to the original URL. I'd have tabs for FaceBook, Twitter and NeoGAF. D) Closing all tabs would exclude pinned tabs.

I also wish they had a tab bar that scrolled when too many were opened and tabs need a minimum width. Right now they can get so tiny you can't even see any text. How useful is that? The answer is not at all.

Oh, and the iPad version of Chrome should work the same way as the iPhone one when swiping to switch tabs. The way it is now is awkward and stupid. The iPhone version is more logical. The iPad version is completely useless.

Also the Chrome to Mobile feature should be built-in, not an extension. And it needs to stop falling asleep. And it needs to let me send a tab to another computer, not just a mobile device.

Does anyone know if there is a way to disable or remove some shortcuts in Chrome? I saw this one app in the store but it does not work like I wanted it to work.

This is how pinned tabs in Chrome originally worked, like exactly. But the Chrome devs wanted to focus on having that functionality be apps-based instead.

I like the current way better. At least this way I know roughly how many tabs I have open at a glance.

I believe it was, used to be an icon in the Omnibar. Don't know where it went, might be on dev or beta? In any cases there's tab syncing.

Shortcuts?

I literally don't give a shit about apps in Chrome. I have uninstalled all of them that I can in fact. I want my goddamn correctly working Pinned Tabs!

It looks terrible though. They could easily just put a label that says "+13 more" or something.

Well duh. But while Tab Syncing consists of you PULLing a tab over to the new device, "Chrome to Mobile" lets you PUSH a tab over to another device. I'd really love to have the option to do both. Push and Pull. Makes no sense I can't push a tab to another computer. Nor can I push them from my other device. Small beef but still. I use this feature a lot on my Air. It should be built-in and send the tab as well as its history just like the pull method does. No reason for this to be an extension.

Also, whatever happened to that feature where the "Other Devices" list was going to be available in the tools menu? I'm really eager to finally dump this completely useless stock NTP but I can't until I can still retain access to my "Other Devices". I'm literally locked into this useless NTP that has "most used sites" that are completely incorrect and uncustomizable or a useless apps list that I don't use and never will use. I want to use Speed Dial dammit! :-( All I ask for is the ability to put "Other Devices" elsewhere in the UI so I can use a better NTP.

I'm having problems where i can't even go to google. IE works fine.

it gives me this error
Error 15 (net::ERR_SOCKET_NOT_CONNECTED): Unknown error.

EDIT: switched from dev to stable seems to work.

So the weirdest thing just happened. Chrome was gone from my computer when I started it today, only shortcuts was left. Anyone else had this problem and what might be causing it?

I thought I was lucky not experiencing crashes when suddenly yesterday, Chrome starts to crash left and right. Reload, try to get to Netflix, crash. Reload, crash. Open up incognito, crash. What the heck.

Using Win 7.

I'm on waterfox now. Smooth as butter in this thread. Not going back because Google is not going to fix it.

And funnily enough Google finance renders correctly in Watefox but not Chrome!

Always had Waterfox as my optional browser but now I have been using it full time for last few months. Chrome just gets worse after every update, really sad.

I tried Maxthon Cloud the other day when I was testing alternate browsers, it's based on webkit too and it also had issues with rendering gifs, I'm no expert on the dev process but it seems like it's a problem there and not with google specifically.

Over time I'm noticing so many tiny little improvements over chrome. Such as:
1. Refreshing threads keeps the page view locked before, during, and after refresh. Chrome goes to the top of the page and then sort of returns to the previous location. The refresh itself seems 2-3x faster.
2. GPU acceleration in Waterfox. Nice with a 120 Hz monitor.

Someone else is using your computer and doesn't know how to do an uninstall the proper way. :p

May run smooth but it uses a gig of ram to do it.

Anyone else having issues uploading pictures to facebook on Chrome? Mine takes forever to just upload one cellphone pic, and 90% of the time it gets stuck just before the upload is complete. Works fine and much faster on Safari and Firefox.

Yup, had that exact problem the other day. Worked fine in Safari.

I hate the "dead area" that Chrome has on OS X Lion/Mountain Lion. Apple added a tiny little UI detail to these versions where the corners of a fullscreen app will have rounded corners like on iOS. But for some reason Chrome's rounded bottom corners are "dead" space. Where clicking or scrolling will not work at all. And sadly this happens a lot as my cursor seems to find itself down there more often than you'd expect.

Safari does not have this problem. I can click on a link that is in that corner and scroll while down there with no problems in Safari. While Safari makes the window rectangular and then adds a rounded overlay to the window, Chrome actually makes its window rounded and fullscreen. I can actually see the linen texture through the corners. That's how I can tell.

Sad thing is it's probably such a small known problem that it will never be addressed, but it's a real annoyance for me personally.

Have you submitted a bug report? They do read them and usually act on them (albeit slowly)

Has anyone else got this bug where the last viewed site in a previously closed tab 'reappear' momentarily between loading websites in a new tab? It's a little odd!

Not sure where to put it. I have a few bugs I'd want to report but I'm betting they've been submitted. I love Chrome, but their speed in fixing important bugs is terrible. Like the two-finger back/forward swipe gesture that stops working on certain pages. It's annoying and seemingly random. Or the loss of hotkey sending when a Flash object is focused. This is the kind of stuff that a browser should not do. But they don't seem interested in fixing them.

EDIT:: Looks like GPU acceleration is what makes the difference.

I'm not seeing the problem. My current rig has 16 GB. My next may have 32 GB if I have a practical use for it. RAM is super cheap.

So far Waterfox is missing:
1. Neogaf dark.
2. Sane use of right-click options. Why is open first? Who right clicks and then left clicks open instead of just left clicking? I'm going to spend some time later to mod this so that open in new tab is first.

The last update made things even worse for me. Now there is a higher chance that tabs will lockup. The fact that I keep using this browser reflects poorly on me. :\ Battered user syndrome.

I'm not sure if I have spyware or what not because I've never seen this icon and it's supposedly from Chrome? I don't remember auto updating. Has this always been there?

So is this a new thing or am I just stupid?

I've seen this for 2-3weeks. What's also nice is that it shows Volume so you know what tabs are making noise

No. Are you on dev?

Yes, i'm on Dev. That would explain a lot including the auto updates. Just spaced out when looking at it and had memories of WindowsXP days where icons started showing up out of nowhere.
Isn't this a feature that's coming from youtube instead of chrome? Soundcloud already does this when you pause a mix.

What I'm talking about is a frequency graph? Don't know what it's called, but it's definitely from Chrome as I just tried it on another site.

This is only from Chromium & Canary builds, but it's working great
