Using beta version of Chrome right now, been using it for awhile now and just love it. I have one little thing that really bugs the fuck out of me. Is there anyway of making it so anything I download automatically gets cleared from the downloads page? I like to have that screen nice and cleared, and having to clear it every time I download something just really bugs me. I already have the extension that adds the shortcut to the downloads page beside my address bar, but I would really like for items to get cleared there automatically.

So does anybody know how to reassign the Tab Overview feature in OSX? I used to have it set so that 4finger tap will do it but now it doesnt. The default is 3 finger swipe down. Can't get it working again..
I use Better Touch Tool to reassign my gestures. Instead I have three-finger swipe to the left set to Command+Control+T since I have swipe down set to End and up set to Home. I also have swipe right set to New Tab.

I need serious help with my Chrome. The taskbar Google search has replaced itself with some bullshit called www.questbrowse.com which doesn't even work. This is questbrowse searching for neogaf from my address bar:

neogaf.PNG

Obviously my first thought was to check my browser's options, but all looks ok.

wtf.PNG

I even deleted all my other search engine options and it's still here.

Help?!

One small tiny problem I have with Chrome is ctrl f box disappears everytime you click on a new page. On Firefox it is always there unless you close it yourself. Is there any way to change that?

I actually prefer this behavior. And no, I don't believe there's a way to change it.

Why do you even use the download page? Do you not like the lower progress bar?

I do use it, but I don't like there to be any files listed in the downloads page at all. I'm kinda OCD like that.

Hot fix update today to fix an HTML 5 Vimeo big from the new dev build. That's all today's update is for supposedly.

Did anybody's gmail spacing change? (11 dev)

Updated and boom, inbox messages are further spread apart. I'm not too sure how I feel about it yet. Seems like a waste of space, but my inner designer says "yay negative space".

I noticed it looked weird randomly the other day, but I never tied it to 11 dev. Are we sure this isn't just a gmail change in general?

Yup, I checked the with the other chrome installs here, they're running the stable version and it hasn't changed.

Even still, all changes to Google products are tested and rolled out incrementally. Doesn't really prove anything.

Same account on all machines. (Google Apps account that's shared)

My personal accounts looks weird only on this chrome install as well. It's like they messed around with padding display on the 11 channel.

I tried searching for info on this but couldn't find a concrete answer. Is Chrome properly color managed? I've read it is on OSX, but not on Windows, is that still correct?

It's certainly not color managed on Windows, but I'm not sure if it is or is not on OS X. Why would it be, in any case? It's basically all the same code.

I think Apple puts a lot more importance on that in their design guidelines than Microsoft does, but yes, it is weird.

It's a big oversight on Google's part to not color manage in Windows, though. I just switched to Chrome and love it, but that part is making me reconsider using it since I do a lot of work with photography. This is 2011, it should be trivial to have proper support for color profiles.

How important is color management to photography?

You tend to work a lot in extended color spaces; AdobeRGB and ProPhotoRGB are the most common. A lot of work gets converted to sRGB when posted online, which Chrome handles fine, but any image that's posted on the web with an AdobeRGB color profile will look very under saturated in Chrome.

Ah. But it doesn't actively impede any work, does it? Seems like a nice feature to have but not required...

Ya, Functionally it doesn't effect the way my workflow is setup, but it's an annoyance to deal with when other photographers don't keep it in mind. It's a bit of a no brainer to support is what I'm getting at.

Hm, my "Note in Reader" bookmark has stopped working for no reason this morning. It's not plug ins or experimental stuff or extensions, it's just not working. It's not even loading anything when I open it in a new tab, it just says "about:blank", even when I input the URL. Tested the link out in Chrome and just got this:

One chrome feature I would like, autohiding bookmarks bar. I've always been a bookmarks bar person but I like the look without it. I think it would be nice if when I would hover over the address bar or something it would show up.

Lifehacker: Adblock Plus for Chrome Updates, Finally Almost as Good as Firefox Version

Chrome: Adblock Plus—the ad-blocking browser extension that does exactly what the name implies—has just updated on Google Chrome with significant improvements, and is now basically on par with the quality of the Firefox version.

Adblock Plus is one of those extensions that have kept some Firefox users from switching over to Chrome, and while the official ABP team had released a Chrome version of the popular Firefox extension, it still wasn't nearly as good. As of this latest release, however, Adblock Plus for Chrome:

1. Can understand the same filters as the Firefox version; now all ads are blocked (previously some were just hidden)
2. Has better filter matching performance.
3. Can block video-ads on Youtube much more reliably and free of side-effects.

Looks like ads are now blocked from loading, rather than just hidden. Plus, video ads seem to be taken care of as well. Great progress by the ABP team.

Right click on it, "Always show bookmark bar".

I'm on OSX and just recently started using Chromium. It seems to be pretty good but goddamn, youtube videos... hell, any kind of video seems to be a mess, especially in 720p. It looks like a slideshow instead of a video. I had no problems before with Chrome dev or Firefox. Anyone else have this problem?

My Chrome crashes 90% of the time I try to download/upload anything. That's after uninstalling and reinstalling. it started with the latest stable build and still happens with the latest beta version. This happen to anyone else?

Another question: is there any way to highlight the OP's posts in a thread, like Neogaf user highlighter? In a lot of threads I'll skim through and only read the posts from the OP, so that would be a very helpful extension.
