That makes sense and explains the double "apps" popping up on the bottom when dragging.

It does nothing to help my gripes with app vs bookmark.

There's something inane about needing an extension for something that was built in behavior a mere two days ago.

Eh? You couldn't get a completely blank new tab page before. Just hide stuff.

Besides this has always been the Chrome Way™. Want RSS support? Just an extension away!

I've explained it to you like four times. Until you come to grips with it, no image hover extension for you.

I understand it, I just disagree with it's current redundancy.

Seriously, I just added music.google.com as a bookmark. If they're doing what I think they're trying to do, chrome should ask me to add the app instead.

Until then....it's sillyness.

p.s. (what are web scripts? ICS has an option to allow web scripts in the settings menu)

Web Scripts are like Greasemonkey I would imagine. On click install from sites like UserScripts.

As for adding apps by visiting sites, there is actually a JS API for that out there, but it's experimental. Still, I've implemented it in my GAF Bans app and it works pretty well. So basically it lets you install apps without visiting the CWS, although that's kind of lame because you don't have reviews, ratings, screenshots, etc. and there is zero discoverability. Still, it's possible.

A passionate embrace, a beautiful memory lingers.
So I got a family member who uses Chrome, but anything flash related has been crashing it instantly lately. I couldn't seem to find the issue after numerous attempts to resolve it.

Anyone got a fix or somewhere I can look up what's going on?

I'm explaining this poorly.

I used to be able to hide stuff. Now I can't. If there's a way to do it, it's obfuscated as fuck.

Ever since the new webstore update I've been unable to actually install anything.

It tells me I need to sign in to add but I am already signed in. So when I sign into the webstore it signs me out of my normal session, this is made all the more annoying because I have the phone verification on :/

Is this a known issue or just me?

I'm having major problems with chrome, it uses way too much memory even on Windows 8, flash keeps crashing, and ever other tab I open crashes. Is there some fix for this?

Chrome 15 has to be the worst new version in months... Switched back to 14.

It murdered the performance of my HTML5 game but otherwise I like the features. The new tab page is so much better for organizing apps.

Anyone having flash related issues? Some flash video is taking very long to load and I just got some "Could not read from memory" error while watching a flash video.

I had Chrome crash like... 25 times on me yesterday, and I'm pretty sure it was all Flash/GPU acceleration related.

Today's been better so far, but I don't know if I'm out of the woods yet.

I haven't had any flash crashes lately but the past week or so I'm getting that Aw, Snap error screen way too often when trying to browse GAF. I had just made the switch over from Firefox but if it keeps up I'm going to have to go back :/

In all honesty that is a pretty nice theme though. Except for that message, obviously. :p

Is anyone else with the current Dev build having the same problem with Twitter... again? I had it a few weeks ago. Something on the page, most likely a rogue JavaScript, is making my Twitter tab slow to a crawl and take up 88% of my CPU.

It makes using the site impossible. Oddly enough it goes away after closing the tab and opening a new one. But it's really weird. It seems to start after using the site for a few minutes. I'm playing around to try and figure out what might cause it.

I don't use dev, but Chrome (stable, Windows 7 x64) has been crashing like crazy this past week. Almost always when I open a few tabs that have more than a couple YouTube vids at once. Thinking of just disabling Flash altogether and joining the YouTube HTML5 test.

You know what cool feature Firefox 8 has that I stumbled onto when I installed it that I wish Chrome would implement? Make it so tabs do not load until you switch to them for the first time. For instance, when you relaunch Chrome, your tabs would be up there, but they would have no content until you click to them. It would speed up launching because it'd only be loading the frontmost tab. It would also work for background opening tabs too.

It's a genius idea and I hope Chrome implements it themselves. Though I'm still holding out for Firefox-like tab pinning where the tab doesn't disappear when you close it. *sigh*

I heard about that. Is it only on startup? Because if I open a link in a background tab I'd still like it to load in the background.

I have to warn you - anyone could develop a better HTML5 player than the YouTube team. It's miserable. Terrible. Awful.

Granted, it is getting better over (a lot of) time, but wow, so below expectations.

Finally moved from Firefox to Safari and now to Chrome. Very stable, solid but what's up with the lack of RSS support? :(

I know. Last week though I was kicked into it randomly, and it seemed pretty good. Even fullscreen worked (on YouTube's own site, the embedded player still did that whole "open big new window" deal.) Additionally, it matched the dark theme and aesthetics of the current Flash player, and perhaps most importantly, didn't stutter when I was focusing on other tabs. I figure they must have gotten it to use WebWorkers or something because before it would always stutter if I was doing something even marginally intensive in another tab.

I did try it again a few days ago and now the controls are all messed up and miscolored. :-/ Seems like they are at least actively working on it, unlike most of this year and last year where they released it and then forgot about it.

I don't necessarily agree with it, but it keeps the browser lean.

Extensions to the rescue!

Are they both the same version? Wrench -> About Chrome

It's been like this for weeks. I thought Chrome auto updated it self?

*edit* lol, it installed the new version when I went to the About Chrome menu. Didn't knew you needed to do that.

I don't know. I haven't tested it. I only use Firefox for porn.

Edit: Nope. It does load background tabs in the background. So there you go.

Please steal that, Google.

Edit: Also, when did they lower the editing threshold for editing a post after posting without getting the stupid "Edited by" message?

You normally don't, unless you haven't closed it in a while.

Today in prep time for Sunday's forum upgrade, and it bites. I think they're going to change it back though.

Hmmm how come my Chrome doesn't have that new tab thing where you can switch between apps and quick launch? I only have the quick launch menu.
