It says it's updated to the latest build.

Andrex said:Probably because that's a third party new tab page. Disable or uninstall it from chrome://settings/extensionSettings and you should be good to go.

Same with the stable version (under about:flags), the download just starts in the background, no popup, no notification, nothing.MatthewB92 said:So why isn't the new download UI not working? If I download something something pops up or anything.
I'm using the beta btw.
Jasoco said:Glad we got rid of the version number seeing as it made no sense when any Chrome user can be using one of 3 different numbers at any one time.

The great majority of apps are just shortcuts to websites. I was expecting great offline support, that I'd be able to use web apps instead of Office, Photoshop, and more complex programs. I guess the technology isn't ripe enough, so things like this aren't yet possible. The only web app I can find a true meaning for is offline Gmail, and even that has it's limitations.Stumpokapow said:I have to say I still don't get apps.
I mean, I've read what Google have written about them and I use Chrome and I'm openminded and I was pretty interested in the concept of the web app store, but I still haven't found a use for them.
I have a smartphone, I do web development, I'm a big HTML5 fan, I'm a big rich content fan, I'm currently arguing in the Digital vs. Paper Books threads so I'm not a luddite. I'm not an idiot. So I would guess that I have the faculties necessary such that I should get it.
Can someone point me to a really great web app, bundled or hosted or whatever, to enlighten me?

The fact that a Google site (Youtube) doesn't work in a Google browser seems like a fundamentally strange problem. Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing? That's really my only advice.OatmealMu said:I'm not sure what happened, but Youtube videos no longer play in Chrome... unless they're embedded on another site. No picture, no sound -- not even a black rectangle where the video is supposed to be. I disabled all of my extensions and still nothing. Youtube works fine in IE so it must be a Chrome thing.
Has anyone here come across this problem and managed to fix it?

OatmealMu said:Get this. Videos work when I use an incognito window. So whatever's busted is disabled in porn mode.
Wat.

Is there a reading list equivalent for Chrome? I like to read things later but this means too many tabs left open

It's all HTML5, JavaScript and CSS. The calendar is generated on the fly. If you hover over it, it shows the days before and after. The clock is a bunch of DIV's with backgrounds rotated to the correct angles. The weather is my latest addition and is grabbed from a Google Gadget XML file. (The same one the iGoogle page uses) The links on the right are generated from a nested tree of JavaScript variables and loads instantly. (The reason I stopped using third party tab pages like Speed Dial 2 is because there was an untollerable delay between opening the tab and the links loading into the grid. I couldn't stand not having them instantly due to it having to read from the database and parse the data.) The FavIcons are retrieved from Google's FavIcon server. Wish it would work consistently. Not all favicons load for some reason. The image is just a nice wallpaper I found on DeviantArt on a users page who found it on the internet. So, no one knows the original source. It's beautiful. I have it on my iPad too.[/QUOTE]
I need that :O

i downgrade from the dev version and the world is a much better place. Too many crashes and things just not working.
