Man, what is taking them so long to push v24 to the stable channel?

In the bug report I put in about the print bug they have stated "soon"

It maybe that it's ready and are waiting on finishing the android chrome release. As they are supposed to be aligning updates.

Most likely the holidays have delayed any releases for the last ~three weeks.

Same reason I'm guessing Mac owners haven't seen 10.8.3 yet, or that Skyrim: Dragonborn might take more than one month to be released on PC.

Have videos been crashing everywhere for anyone lately? Every single video I try to play crashes a few seconds in. Vimeo, Tumblr, everywhere except for YouTube.

ive been having problems with chrome. anything i download (including chrome apps) says its invalid once i try to open it. ive tried uninstalling chrome already nd changing download directories.

I just installed Dev v25 and the blurry text crap is still there. Unbelievable. Guess I'm back to Firefox full time now and uninstalling this eye strain garbage.

That's what I did. I still have Chrome installed though just in case it ever gets better than Firefox again.

Wasn't sure if I should post this here or in the "Chrome sucks" thread but

Is the spell checker broken now or is it just me? It used to work so well. See red lines under word, right click, fix word, problem solved.

Now it seems like I have to right click a word multiple times (sometimes alternating between left and right clicks) most of the time to get the spell check to come up.

Okay. All updated to 24. But I had to once again do it manually because Chrome's automatic updater is a piece of shit that keeps breaking for some unexplicable reason. So I deleted all files I could find associated with the GoogleSoftwareUpdater and rebooted so the new Chrome can reinstall them properly again. But it's a pain in the ass. Chrome is supposed to be all automatic. How can their automatic system be so shitty?

Other than that, I never have problems with Chrome.

Not a particularly useful response I know, but I've never had a problem with Chrome automatically updating across multiple machines (Win7/8 & OSX).

Same, never had a problem on Windows. Chrome on Linux uses the update manager though, which is a little more of a pain than otherwise, but I take it with stride since that's kind of how Linux manages to be so secure.

I dunno what causes it, but I do wish I knew exactly what files to remove (OS X) in order to repair it. Supposedly the KeyStone files in the LaunchAgents folders and probably some other files elsewhere.

Thing is I can't test if I've fixed the problem until the next update comes out since I'm already updated to 24.

It's literally the only problem I've ever had with Chrome in its stable form.

Here's what happens. If I open About Chrome (Say after hearing "Hey! A new update is out!" it will show the current version I'm on and will say "Checking for updates".. "Updating Chrome" and will mount the DMG it downloads (I can tell because I have Hardware Growler that tells me when an image is mounted) but will fail every time when it tries to copy the file into place with an error that the "Update Server cannot be found" which is a lie because it had no problem downloading and mounting the DMG. It just can't move it into place. And since it mounts it hidden, I can't just go into it and copy it over myself. (I guess it also deletes the DMG immediately) So I have to always go to the official download page to get it. The failing always happens at the final step. Totally defeating the purpose of automatic updates. Why can't Google just use Sparkle on OS X? Sparkle never fucks up.

Anyone know how to submit bug reports for Chrome?

In Windows 8, if you move the program shortcut from the location it is installed to into your Start Menu Programs folder, the relaunch functionality in * mode ceases to work.

Really dumb, that.

As an aside, I've gotten fed up with crappy image performance in Chrome and have switched over to IE10 for the time being. Someone let me know when performance is where it should be.

Go here

http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/list

And submit a new issue, you will get a response. It might be worth downloading chrome canary first (thing of it as the test beta) as it might already be fixed and not yet merged into the stable release.

Ugh, with Chrome 24 now when i'm scrolling it does that shit cellphones do where it displays a blank checkerboard pattern if there's something halfway "intensive" on screen (like a gif).

Time to go back to firefox, it's been fun, Chrome.

I really want to go back to Firefox or something, but damn Google really has me in its clutches with that synchronisation stuff. Also: no bookmarks without a description possible.

I'm just sick of the gifs not working...

Firefox has REALLY improved in the last few iterations, and I was almost a Chrome fanboy for about four years. I love FF again. Chrome is bugged junk now.

When FF introduces the ability to enter private browsing without closing your previous window in FF20, they will have it completely over Chrome.

And another new bug to add to the pile as I was getting my shit sorted on bookmarks I had to carry over to my firefox session. Tabs hang completely whenever they don't load all the way, and will stay that way until I force them closed. Example: If I open a tab but start entering in the url information before the chrome blank space fully loads (with web store, etc in the background), the tab will refuse to load anything, no matter how many times I attempt to refresh the page or load another site on it, until the tab is closed and a new one is opened.

Buh, Google, how can you fuck up your browser so much over 6 months?

Ugh every update makes it worse and worse. Same with youtube, what the hell is google doing on those offices? Getting high or something? I switched now to Firefox Nightly (64bit). Works way better.

I'm suffering from this, or something similar, as well, but can't find any reports of this behaviour on the Google support site thing. Existing open tabs are frequently blanking, and no amount of refreshing or entering another URL will make it budge - that tab is effectively dead.

I've been putting up with it by right-clicking on the 'broken' tabs and hitting 'Duplicate'... but I'm just about at my wits end. Time to head back to Opera or something for a little while, maybe.

Anyone have this problem, too?

It's really annoying and it can stay there for a good 5 seconds before going.

EDIT: Dominican - No and no.

If you want to change it type about:flags into your address bar and look for "Threaded compositing". change it to disabled and relaunch Chrome.

I think it was recently that Chrome moved page rendering to a new process so if a page is heavy (for example: it has a ton of gifs) it won't slow the rest of the browser down.

Yeah, icon-only bookmarks in the bookmark bar are an absolute must for me now.

Thanks.

Checker boxes is worse than slowdown.

When I have a bit more energy I'm going to switch to firefox. Google has shown over the last 2 years they just don't care enough to fix bugs specifically for Windows Chrome branches. All of these changes that goof up desktops that don't have the performance bottlenecks to begin with.

Did they fix the shitty font and the gifs freezing?

They replaced it with popup chess boards.

This seems to have fixed my scrolling issue, as well. Thanks.

Yeah, Firefox on the Mac is nothing special at all. The UI is terrible and doesn't feel Mac-like at all and looks ugly even for Windows. Chrome just feels so native. I also have no problems at all with Chrome aside from their updater daemon being a piece of shit.

I use Firefox for Porn to keep it centralized and out of my Chrome living space.

Giant white blocks covering stuff is becoming a common problem after the update. It also changed how Chrome handles "float" elements.

I'm still getting random crashes all over the place, especially if using Youtube or multiple Youtube windows. Very annoying.

This is probably already known, but I just found out through Tested - Chrome Beta is available for Android.

It uses v25 rather than v18, and will be updated faster. Tested say it's basically Chrome Canary for Android. Can be installed alongside the stable version.

I was wondering if I'm the only one with this problem, since I can barely find something about it via googleing:
If I change the volume on a Youtube video to, say, 50%, and load another video the volume is reset to 100%. Which is pretty annoying since every video blasts my ears off at 100%. And no, I don't want to change my system volume just because of YT. It works in every browser except Chrome. Has anyone else this problem?

Only time that happens to me is when I have two youtube videos open, both with different volumes set, so when I open another tab with a youtube video, it defaults to the whatever the highest volume setting is from the first two.

Maybe it's something html5-related? Have you tried enabling/disabling the html5 feature?

It was disabled, but you brought me on the right track. I disabled the integrated (Pepper-)Flash plugin, so Chrome uses the system-wide from Adobe and now the volume is saved.
