Google Pixel 2 - answers are coming Oct 4th

Got the same. I was going to get the 128 and then realized that I didn't need the extra space for anything anyway.

Got the insurance too. Just in case

I did the exact same on storage size. I have a 128 6P right now and only using ~40GB of it so far including photos. I used something like 70GB once, ever (on a phone that later bricked). With free photo backup, I really, REALLY don't need it anymore.

So if I use AT&T and am still paying off my iPhone 6s+, is there any problem with me financing the unlocked Pixel 2 on the Google Store and setting it up on AT&T?

Eh, I think we just have different ideas about what makes this different. What do you think would make this something new enough that it would have garnered a different initial reaction from you? I know it seems like I'm harping on you, it's just that I actually thought live translation headsets already existed, instead of translation software has existed for years and so have headsets

There is no difference. Live headsets exist. If you had used the Google search I gave you you would have seen devices that do just this. The first few links were headsets and stand-alone devices. I linked the MS app because it was MS and I figured their credentials weren’t in doubt on the AI learning front.

The method doesn’t really matter. Whether it is software or software and hardware. It all comes down to the same thing. Using a mic and speaker to live translate. It’s not world shocking. It is a cool thing that keeps getting better and better, sure.

Wow, that's ugly as fck. With all the money Google has they couldn't come up with a better design?

How easy/difficult is it to adjust to a no-headphone-jack life? How often do you run into scenarios where you just can't use headphones because you left the adapter or your wireless ones ran out of juice?

hmmm I think the smaller Pixel with the XL design would have been my favorite phone if they went in that direction. I'm guessing I can get that next year though.

do you get anything included with the Pixel 2? Like free Google Music or something? Verizon preorder bonus? EDIT: looks like a free Home Mini if you buy from the Google Store

does the Pixel 2 come with a pair of USB-C headphones in the box? or just the adapter thing for 3.5mm?

Looks like they knocked the price down on the OG pixel. Now listed as $549 and $669. XL was $749 earlier today iirc. Still too much. Will wait to see if it drops further once the 2 is released.

Has never happened to me except once where I ran out if battery. But I was almost home do it wasn't a huge issue. The larger adjustment will be for those who use audiophile headphones, but then again, they would be cursing Google right now.

My first few weeks with the iPhone 7 were frustrating, but I rarely have an issue now. I also got a pair of AirPods and have been really pleasantly surprised with those, which has been a big part of why I've adjusted more easily since my airpods can quickly re-pair to my iPhone/MacBook/iPad with one tap/click on the device.

That having been said, I also have a traditional pair of bluetooth headphones and I've never minded having to de-link and re-pair those either. It's easy enough once you get used to it.

Re: Charging - Just make sure you plug in your headphones every night when you charge your phone. I'm very rarely out of juice.

I just have headphones all around my home, in my car, in my bags, and at family's houses, so I always have a pair convenient for me since i'm too forgetful to remember to pack them when i leave the house. I feel like i'd have to buy half a dozen adapters to store everywhere to prevent this. I assume most of them are cheap since it's not a proprietary cable, though.

That's not what I'm seeing, can you link one?

Look it would be really easy if you just showed me one of these devices you keep mentioning

I made a second order for an XL, and it gave me an error when checking out but I still got the confirmation email, they charged my card, and it shows up in my order history. So I guess it's good. Oct 26 – 27 delivery for that.

My phone still has a headphone jack, but I haven't used wired headphones since getting a wireless pair.

I've forgotten to charge it once or twice and ran out of juice, but I feel like I used to forget my wired headphones more often than my wireless, so they aren't any less convenient from my experience. I just got a small charging case for my wireless headphones, so hopefully that will mostly solve the issue of it dying.

I do use an AUX cord for my car audio, so losing a headphone jack would mean I'd need to get a bluetooth adapter for my car.

People laugh at the $400 price for the max but I expect it to have better/stronger lows than the HomePod with its dual woofers. It’s twice the size and weight. But not being omnidirectional is a bummer.

I would just throw the adapter on the end of the aux cord in your car and leave it there for good

lol @ the removal of the headphone jack.

Didn't they laugh at apple last year and now doing the same thing for no good reason?

Picked up a White Pixel 2 64GB through Project Fi.
Super excited!

I don't mind the bezels even if its slightly clunky, the portability and "pocket-ability" outweighs that for how I mainly use my phone.

the designs are crap but everything else is good, lack of innovation though in terms of hardware. i want to see the face unlock & true edge to edge display next year, the smaller pixel is an abomination.

bought dre beats not too long ago, already regret it looking at these pixel buds that live translation was dope.

I wish the lower bezel was shorter in height, the fact the screen is perfectly centered makes it look off.

Similar to mounting a picture in a frame, just in reverse (professionally mounted pictures have a slightly thicker top margin).

It definitely is cool but unless I missed sth, both users need to have their own pair of buds. And let's face it, that makes it quite useless in the few situations most people would even use it.

I love the XL, especially the white one looks really good.

But since that's already sold out until the end of December on the german store I opted for a 64 XL in black.

Guess I can always get a dbrand skin.
Though I'll probably check the store every day now before my order ships in the hopes that the white one is available earlier

Didn't they say they were going to include a Home Mini with new Pixel orders? I didn't see anything about that during the checkout process.

Is it just assumed that they'll include that when it ships?

As a photographer, this is a travesty. Depth looks way fake (it’s not gradual) and the edges are clearly rough.

I'm also a photographer and I think it looks decent. The worst thing about these fake out of focus effects is the guy is perfectly in focus everywhere and the entire background is the same out of focus. If you shoot someone like that with a SLR camera with low depth of field, part of guy's head will start to go out of focus as you go further back.... not the all or nothing seen here.

I'm actually about to leave to shoot an event tonight and the Google Clip literally sounds like something to put event photographers out of business... clip it to your shirt and it automatically takes photos of interesting moments without you doing anything.

It says you'll get a promo code so i assume it will be with the shipping.

i know little about photography but i think the shots look great. that's what attracted me to the pixel originally--just really solid photos that anybody can take. all the stuff on my s6 looks pretty bad unless i manually adjust everything. i just want to be able to point and shoot and get photos like THAT
