Anyone have cell issues with this phone? It's one I bought from Google, running on Verizon and now on my second SIM card. Tends to lose all cell connectivity and says No SIM about 15 seconds into a call, then I can call back, it works for a while, then drops again. Currently chatting with Google support, but wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Edit: and my support chat session ended with "We're currently investigating this issue, however we do not have a resolution at this time. Google is committed to continually making improvements to our devices and regularly provides free software updates to customers."

So no real help. Kind of a bummer, being able to maintain a cell signal seems like kind of a basic requirement for a smart phone...

I'm on Verizon (though, I bought it from Verizon) and have had no issues like this. You should push for a replacement device.

I might. I asked what they could do besides wait for an update and I was told to submit a support ticket and disconnected from the chat. I really like the device, but stuff like this is where I miss walking into an Apple store and walking out with a replacement device...

I bought from Google store and use it on Verizon just like you, but I've never experienced the issues you describe. I agree with the above poster in that it may be just bad luck in that you got a faulty handset.

Got the Pixel from Verizon store the other day and I'm really loving it. Just feels good to use. Battery is decent, but my Sony Z3's battery was way better, even after having it for 2 years, but quick charge makes up for it. My only complaints are Android related and me not being used to Nougat yet.

Did you try turning off advanced calling? I had a lot of trouble with that. Couldn't successfully connect to a call

A passionate embrace, a beautiful memory lingers.
Picked this phone up a few days ago. Really enjoying it so far. The design is decent, great size, battery is really good compared to my N6, and the software features make me miss my old Moto X a little bit less.

got the wrong hit
The only issue i've had is that it sometimes loses connection to my router and it takes a few minutes for it to reconnect (no matter whether i disconnect/reconnect manually). Not a massive issue, just annoying.

Anyone upgrade to this from a Galaxy S6? How does the battery compare? My S6 edge has absolutely abysmal battery life and I have a 128 gig XL on order specifically for the bigger battery. It'll be my first full on "fablet" but the S6 already sucks to use one handed so I said fuck it and went with the big boy.

The battery life on the XL is insane, especially standby, I can get 2 - 3 days of medium use before it drops low enough that I have to recharge it.

The battery on the Pixel XL is astounding. I'm coming from a Nexus 6, which was a good phone but I normally had to charge up on the way home from work and it would make it maybe ~18 hours before being dangerously low.

I was taking screenshots of my battery life with virtually the same usage as before. After unplugging 8 hours ago, I have 1 day 17 hours left. I imagine if I didn't plug this in at all, I could make it 3 or 4 days before needing to plugin. I should test it out at some point.

It'll easily do it but it's depending on your usage, I can charge it to 100% Wednesday night, take it off charge before bed and not need to charge it again until Sunday evening before I head to work Monday.

Whoa! Do you guys not use your phone? I get about a full days worth. 100% at 7am and plug in again that night, 9-10pm. I get about 6 hours of SOT.

What does a typical day of usage look like for you? I have an S7 and need to charge twice a day.

Tried Daydream last night on my XL. It was fun until it overheated. First time my phone has gotten that hot.

yeah shit gets hot, don't feel like it's going to melt but definitely take breaks.

I bought DRIFT, and now i need frequent breaks so I don't puke. Fun game, just take some Dramamine first.

Pixel is easily the best phone I ever used. Such a great feeling being on stock android again after touchwiz on the Galaxy S6Edge. Speaking of the S6 I no longer have battery anxiety - still charge my phone nightly but its always at 65%

I listen to Spotify for a few hours a day at my desk, I regularly check Facebook via the app, text/message people, the screen is set to auto adjust, no wifi at work and no bluetooth, location accuracy is set to high and I can easily get home with over 75% left, I think what helps is that I'm not glued to the screen because I'm working.

Wonder when we'll see that update. I haven't seen an actual OTA update come through yet unless it did it behind the scenes and didn't tell me. My latest security update is November 5 so I'm guessing I did get at least one.

It has only started rolling out today, the build number is NPF26J.

Hopefully we get the update soon.

I had bought a Pixel XL from Best Buy a week ago and was on a old build and didn't get one update. Well I wanted it from Google so once it was available I ordered from there and got my phone yesterday. As soon as I put my sim in I get the November security update and my build is NDE63V.

Anyone come from an iPhone 6 or 6s to this? Impressions?

I came from a 6, and I love it, to the point where I don't think I could ever go back to Apple (unless they made some radical improvements).

This was my first Android, so there was a bit of a learning curve, but almost every feature that I missed from Apple (such as notification badges) can be put onto this thing with an App. The amount of customization and personalization here is incredible. Everything about it can be tailored to your style. I Googled "Top 10 Android Apps/Launchers/Widgets" to get started, and it was awesome. I downloaded a new texting app to replace the stock Android one that lets me do so much more (such as choose my emoji style from Android/iOS/Twitter/ETC, or delay texts sending for a couple seconds in case I notice a mistake, or change the colors of the bubbles, etc). I also downloaded a new launcher, basically a new visual OS that has a ton of cool features. Widgets are actually useful here too, in that they work as you'd hope (you can just put widgets on your home screen, instead of them being awkwardly brushed off to a different screen).

Having said that, I'd be lying if I said there aren't a couple things that I miss about Apple, and almost all of them have to do with sheer ease of use. For example, I'm not a big fan of how volume control is handled here. There are three sliders for ring, media, and alarm volume, and it's not super clear what happens to the others when you put one down completely. For example, on an iPhone you can have the phone on silent, but when you have headphones in, things like text notifications are still audible. I'm sure that's still possible here, but it's a bit of a hassle to get to, and requires more fidgeting.

Also, I travel abroad a lot for work, and turning off data for certain apps is way more obtuse, and way less clear here than it is on Apple. I just want a screen with all my apps, and literally an on/off switch for data for each one. This makes it a bit more complicated than that.

Lastly, the volume output on the Pixel is noticeably more quiet than my iPhone 6, and I don't like that at all. I tried downloading some app to boost the volume (Speakerboost), but it didn't seem to do anything. If anyone has a solution they know works, let me know. I just want it to bump up by like 10%.

Those are nitpicks in the grand scheme of things, though. By and large, the Pixel is an incredible phone, and I'm all aboard the Android train now too. I'm very happy with the purchase.

I loved the double-tap feature back when I had my LG G3. This will be convenient for when just have my phone on the table and want to quickly check something. Double-tap, put in pin, and go. Obviously, I'll use the regular fingerprint unlock when I pick the phone up, but leaving it on the table is a common use case at work, or if I'm out for drinks or something.

I've actually had the same issue, so you're not alone.

Have you tried the data saver feature in settings?

Checked out VR porn for the first time last night. I've seen the future. The director's need to learn to not put the camera too close. The camera was so damn close in VR, that I had trouble focusing on the pussy and ass that were in front of me. If nothing else, this has convinced me to get a RIFT or VIVE by third generation.

Yeah, but (unless I'm mistaken) it only uses data for an app if that specific app is being used. So like, I need things like email, WhatsApp, Slack and others to always be functioning, but I want to make other apps not use any data ever. It's possible on Android, it's just more finicky. I actually think the Data Saver function isn't that great (unless I'm completely mistaken as to how it works)

if it's on, all apps won't use data in the background except for those you specify. You get a long list of apps with on/off switches, those turned on will have access in the background (whatsapp, slack etc) and the rest will only use data if you open them.

Got this Monday and I'm somewhat disappointed in it. My call recording app does not work for it and it's massively annoying because I need it for work. The screen rotation also doesn't work properly. I have to reset the phone periodically for it to work again.

Anybody have suggestions for a good call recorder that doesn't required rooting the phone? And anyone else experiencing screen rotation problems?

So I jumped on the Verizon Black Friday deal and ordered a 128GB Black Pixel this morning at 4am.

$15/month, I'm pretty happy with that price!

How many opted for the 128gb?

I probably should have, but I am not patient. I am hoping 32gb works for me and I think it will. I have unlimited data plan so I can always go to photos for my pics and videos. I don't have downloaded music on here. I keep my downloaded YouTube videos cleaned up as well as my podcasts. Not a ton of apps. And I'll only have the phone for a year. I think I'll be good. I hope I'm good...

Ok, thanks. I'm a big podcast + Google Music offline user. Plus, I like to have multiple games installed, if possible

I had the 32gb Nexus 5X last year, and I ran into storage trouble.

On the other hand, Pixel will be backing up my photos/video in original quality and clearing them off my phone, without me having to do it manually... I just didn't want to risk it.

I had the 64gb 6p and never had an issue with storage, but when the pixel came I looked at the memory and I was just over 30gb so 32 was out the picture. I got the 128gb xl and I've been actually downloading a lot more Google play music for offline play and downloading more games too and I actually still have a ton of space. Really glad I went with the 128gb considering I don't take too many pictures anyway so the unlimited backup is just a small plus for me.

Can any one help me with the sound setting on this phone?

On Samsung I could take the sound and set to either vibrate or mute.

On this phone I only get sound or mute, no in between. I can't figure out how to have sound off and hear music via headphones. At work if I try to listen to Spotify or anything the sound is muted until I turn sound up but then star getting notification sounds via ear phones and the phone which is pretty dumb.

Just got mine as well. Never used any other VR equipment before and was a bit underwhelmed. It's definitely a fun little distraction, though I don't see myself using it after this weekend. Maybe it's a lack of apps to use immediately or the really low resolution.

I am bringing it to my family's Thanksgiving dinner to let them try, seeing should be fun.
