Seriously, I've been asking for it for a while.
Just give me a fucking EXP boost in B-spec so level 15+ isn't a mountain. Or do seasonal to where it jumps me to level 40 in one race. Either/or, I can't give a fuck. Just drop the grind. God.

Agreed 1000%.

PM sent too. Thank you.

Fucking exactly. I did the Super GT series with the Minolta last night. It's so fucking POINTLESS to set your car to go, pit strategy at 10% and wait for FIFTY FUCKING MINUTES. The only thing it tests is the consumers patience and PS3s reliability. Effectively making it compulsory to get some cars (like the Toyota-7) is just bullshit. Having to leave consoles on while it runs is beyond stupid.

Edit: Given we're of a similar mind, does having the X1 make much of a difference (time-wise) in the Expert challenges over the Minolta?

I'll buy it tomorrow. Hopefully more people will be active this month. :/

Edit: @Post above: I haven't gotten to extreme in B-spec to honestly tell you. It probably doesn't given the AI's pants-on-head stupidity at times, however.

I'm liking some of these garage rewards (just got matte green paint)... but good god the amount of time it takes to buy a used car, get it and get back to the used car list is ridiculous. I had to bring my laptop over so I could do other stuff whilst I wait.

At what level does my B-Spec driver actually stand a chance at winning? I've won the first four races, but can't get better than 3rd in the 5th one. He acts like a complete moron, stopping when he shouldn't, not accelerating in the right spots. Completely frustrating. Is it more the car than the driver at this point? Even though it seems like the car I'm using for the 5th race is certainly fast enough, he just can't drive.

I'm sure I'm doing this mode wrong (although I do seem to be keeping him cool and pressing overtake only when he has a real shot...), so who the fuck knows. Kinda blows there's ZERO explanation in the game on how to handle this mode, other then 3 menus that pop-up for about five seconds each.

Should I be giving him commands constantly, or only a few per race? I really don't get how to make him drive better. It's frustrating to say the least. If he's a hot-head does that mean he funtions better when his emotional gauge is in the red? No clue.

Try 5 hours for Suzuka 1000km race.....as mine is currently doing. I don't even set a pit % because towards the ends the drivers would be so tired they'd be changing every few laps. so I just make them go till they run out of gas, which they'll then auto change. lol

It is stupid though. That and the following 9 and 24 hours races...

I just painted my Viper ACR that color. Looks like a fucking badass.
Spent a long time in photomode, but in exporting to XMB I mistakenly chose the option to copy over same names which made all but one image transfer.
Apparently GT5s image naming scheme is simply the location it was taken in, no numbers follow. Learned my lesson there. Must tell it to rename when copying.
Won't be till like 1am that my endurance Bspec ends, so I won't be able to share my photos until tomorrow.

Slowing pace down will put him more into the cool zone while pacing up will put him more into the red zone. The key is to keep it near the middle and keep it there with keep pace.
You don't want him to go all the way cool because he'll drive like a grandma and too red makes him spin out a lot in lower levels.

Not looking forward to the endurance aspect of the B-spec, though I imagine that getting the X1 will combat that somewhat. Likewise in A-spec... I just hit level 25 (thanks to the seasonals) and had a quick look at a 60-lap Suzuka event (I think). Would've taken a bullshit amount of time to complete (after brief calculations based on 3 laps) before I promptly ragequit in frustration.

Seriously, does ANYONE find that even remotely enjoyable or challenging?

Sadly the X1 didn't shave off enough time to feel worth busting it up. Just stuck to using my FormulaGT. Runs about 20-30min longer for that particular race.

Im thinking about joining the League but i havent yet raced online ONCE! Im so addicted to GT Mode... 61% complete, lvl 22 in A-Spec and one lvl 12 B-Spec driver, and 75 cars in my garage.

I play with a DS3 and i think of all the online racers with their awesome wheel and pedal setups and that deters me from racing online. But i know that's silly and a GAF League sounds like a lot of fun. Im probably going to register once i familiarize myself with the online part of the game.

Man, I've only tried it once but that Ford GT Seasonal event is tough. Can't see the racing line for shit on Trial Mountain with all the hills and the bright sun. Finished last with over a minute behind. :(

I have racing: mediums on and the 450cr. filter. I also bought the stage 1 exhaust + catalytic converter. I just suck. The rolling start shit at the beginning is really annoying too. Hate watching that.

I guess its just practice really and keep pushing harder and harder. The Ford GT has a decent amount of grip and I could accelerate out of corners much quicker than I thought I would be able to. It's not like any other American car :lol

Do you have ASM on? That really slows the cars down a lot.

Fuck yeah, you saved me a ton of money.

Goal here is to slow in, fast out the last 25% of the corner. If you're really good you can cut the corners where the yellow barrier/markings are. Which will sling shot you past the AI a few times. You should be able to get to first on the last lap if you drive hard with just this and no weight reductions. I just did it. Was a rush. :lol

Takes a little time to adjust to the car, but once you do it's a fun little car to drive.

Any tips for the C4 event?

The lobby allows for 32 people, so if we manage to get a full grid come Sat, we'll have room for spectators.

Is it me, or is driving on gravel/dirt hard? Even with dirt tires, it seems like the car purposely skids around corners even going slightly slow when I know a car wouldn't generally skid like that in dirt.

I'd like to dial in a little oversteer on my Audi R8 5.2. Any suggestions? I'm a bit of a tuning noob.
Decrease camber
Increase suspension strength
Decrease Toe-Out
Increase damper compression
Decrease suspension height

All above for the rear of the car. Make sure you don't go too far though as the car might become a bit weird. I haven't done any of the above, but it's the reverse of what I do to counter oversteer, so common sense says it should work. :D

Oh man that show is fantastic!

On a different note, I caved in yesterday and bought an 128gb SSD for my PS3. Got the older gen Kingston since the PS3 is only SATA I. Not a bad price either. I will record video of pre and post SSD installation and post it to see how the load time differs. I hope to get the 50% reduction in loads most other SSD installs have shown.

For the C4 WRC event I kept the car as it comes, but changed the oil and put on Racing Softs. I was 1st by mid-way through the 3rd lap. All assists (except ABS=1) set to OFF.

It´s horrible. I´m stuck in level 34 for two weeks, after the Vettel challenge the grinding really takes its toll.

It´s flat out stupid, and they need to give us a 15 minute 10 million xp race for that stupid b-spec.

It will take me more than 100 completions of the Indy 500 to get to level 40 on that shit.

Not funny at all, specially when you are looking to collect everything the game has to offer and you are forced to do this BS.

That's one of the things I don't get at all about this... to get to the later stages, the common-sense way of setting things up is that finishing all the cups in a difficulty should be enough to get you to the next level (or perhaps, give you just short of enough so that you should do the specials/licenses as well). Having to find the most valuable races and repeat them ad nauseum AFTER you've finished the lead-up events is just ridiculous.

I honestly don't see how they could've planned the meat of the game this badly, especially when PD seem so anal about other facets of GT5. Right now, I couldn't give a shit about the premium/standard debacle. The levelling up/game structure makes me want to bang my head against my desk far more than anything else they've overlooked/screwed up. I hope they learn something from this because if it's more of the same in the next iteration I won't be buying, simple as that.

My biggest gripe about the rewards is that they have no scaling to them. How is 5 laps of Indy worth more than 10 laps of Indy at a higher difficulty level? Shouldn't 200 laps of Indy yield you around 40x more than the American 5 lap race?

No challenges are rewarded based on difficulty. They are trying to remedy this with the high payouts in Seasonal but those aren't part of the main game.

Laslty, the prize cars, ugh, utter shite. You would think that by golding every single event and being at 40 aspec and 40 bspec you would have a pretty good chunk of the premium cars earned? Ohhh no, just a lousy 37, fucking 37, four of which are Red Bull X1's.

So lame.

Joined the Carbon club. Golded Suzuka just now and I'm literally shaking from the nerve racking tension. Straight to Level 33 :lol

I have zero problems with sector 1. I just couldn't work out Spoon. Last lap, first sector was a good 26.5, middle was so so and took it a bit too easy across the Casino Triangle, still 2:09.921. Might come back to it to see how much more I can eek out of it.

Cheers, just looking at what I need to finish just to get to Lvl 35 is amusing/scary. I could do every single one of the endurance events available to me in A-spec up to and including the Tsukuba 9h and that would net me 3million xp......which would get me to Lvl 35. Then it's Le Mans 24hr...do that and I'd jump to 3/4 through Lvl 36. Then grind that till Lvl 40. Crazy.

EDIT: You have to do Le Mans 24hr FIVE TIMES to get to Lvl 40 when they give you the Nurburgring 24hrs, which will give you 7.5m xp...which is utterly useless since you can't earn more xp when you reach Lvl 40. That is one hell of a screw up.

Haha, 'it's the hardest race in the game, let's give them loads of xp for this!' ... 'yes, but we must make it the finale, only unlocked at the maximum level' ... 'perfect, I can't see how this can possibly go wrong'

That sums up perfectly the flawed design of the whole career aspect.

Edit: I'm planning on A-spec Indy 500 this weekend in one of the Ferrari F1's, almost certainly Raikkonen's dark red F1 2007, then the Suzuka 1000km in the 787B if I have enough time to take a crack at it.

Just did the NASCAR event on the Ring, holy hell, Skid Recovery Force and ABS make the car drive like it's on rails. It feels like cheating. Placed first on the third try.

Indy 500 Endurance help please!

I've just realised that after hitting Lv. 28 last night I can enter this event which I believe is pretty good for the old grind to Lv 30. The best car in Typical Opponents is 906bhp, and my ZR-1 RM is running at 905bhp right now. Would this be a competitive car? Or maybe the Minolta would be better? It looks like it should, but I don't want to suddenly lose those few horses from the oil change mid-way and lose the race! They are about the fastest cars I have, maybe I need the Formula GT to be sure!

Any help would be great, thanks.

Cheers :)

The Minolta looks like it should do it fine, but I'm going for voicing* (*cockpit ... stupid iPad) view immersion which rules out non-premium cars.

I'm not convinced the ZR1-RM will do it; it blitzes the Indy circuit in the extreme American championship, but in Like The Wind I found I spent the length of both straights blocking constantly. The field for the enduro Indy 500 looks more like the LMP's & Group C cars from Like The Wind to me and I'm not sure I could cope with the constant blocking for 200 laps.

Edit: it's the weight of the ZR1 that hurts it rather than the HP.

D'oh! Thanks for the warning, not bought it yet so I'll investigate further. Might try the 787B on Indy then and my Takata NSX on Suzuka.

Edit: yup, can't use them. And you get a free F10 at A-spec level 40 apparently. I'll pass for now then. D'oh.

I've just won the indy 500 with the Minolta being only 4 laps ahead the 2nd
Not easy or better not as easy as one may think.
2.30h my time, with laps in the range of 0.41-0.43.
i have had to change tyres, i've used the hard racing ones, after 26-28 laps each time.
