I knew GT would get trashed. Fixing the sound and standard cars won't do anything, they'd have to totally reform the career mode and up the ante on damage to get any respect.

We have to TRY, damn it all! It's the review thread cycle, Jim. You cannot stop Nature from doing its thing.
As bad as the DS3 is for a game like this, you can still get a good feel for the handling model and physics with it. Anybody experienced with these sorts of games will typically know what to pick up on and where you can put something down to a controller drawback or something with the game, even if they can overlap at times.Considering probably 5% of the reviewers used a racing wheel I don't see how their opinions on the driving amount to anything

I don't understand. How is the gameplay still considered arhaic? The gameplay itself should be a positive given how much PD have improved the driving model and physics.
Hahaha I like you. Real life better step up it's gamedriving cars around track is boring, GT1 did it long time ago, nothing new here.
As flawed as it is, at least GT6 does not seem to disappoint in the area that matters the most to the fans: the car handling.
The Venture Beat review seemed useful to me, in that it basically said "if you had these problems with the series before, no, they did not disappear with this installment!" so it seems like a perfectly valid review to cover that base. And as much as I'd like to get into GT someday, that IS kind of my feeling too.As the crowd zeroes in on a few reviews that disagree with their preconceptions, even among a slew of ones that do, I would like to remind them how unfortunate that behavior is: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/jimquisition/7859-Dragons-Frown

What are the main problems the reviewers have with GT6?

Reviews are only ever useless when they're saying bad things about something you like or are interested in, apparently.True , then again reviews are becoming more and more useless .
Wonder what going to happen current gen when people just look at streams to see what they want to buy .

I'm sure if GT was scoring 9's all round, you guys would be all, "Hell yea, GT6 is amazing, see! Forza who? lololol!"
And streams are never going to replace reviews. It will be a useful asset, but there's so much that isn't going to be gotten across just by watching somebody play. Particularly in a game like Gran Turismo.
Venture does not know who this game is marketed to.

I was expecting low scores compared to other GT games, but not this low. Does the game still uses PS2 assets like 5?
Once again my actual implication is that GT5 scored way higher than it should have, especially at launch when much of it was broken (the economy). Have no real issue with the scoring of GT6 - not that I give review scores much credence anyway. Prefer to read the actual reviews and make my mind up from those
I went to metacritic and read some of the user reviews. I regretted that decision.
Yes, The cars look better but still not good. The result is an annoying visual inconsistency. I really hope Polyphony changes their priorities and gets rid of these assets for GT7.
This isn't a problem for me because it flat out means less cars. Like I don't get my beloved Tommy Kaira ZZII less cars.
But hey I'm a GT fan and like their kool-aid. Approaching from another angle I can see why standards are a problem, people just don't want to drive them like I don't wanna drive any classic cars in the beginner series events.
Game length, progression, economy, difficulty, feel, bugs, etc.I would also like to know what about GT or any game really what i won't be able to tell from streams compare to reviews ?
Racing sims continue to be a genre reviewed by people who know nothing about it, GT6 is in every way a better game and sim than 5.
Thought this was slightly interesting

So review embargo is officially up it would seem
Game length, progression, economy, difficulty, feel, bugs, etc.
Obviously you can watch for hours and hours to get a better idea of *some* of these things, but a review that encapsulates the entirety of the experience is still going to be useful. They will both be useful in their own ways.
Uhm it's marketed at the mass market, at people that like to look at cars, etc. It wouldn't sell in the millions if it was truly only built for Sim enthusiasts. From that standpoint the venture beat review is ok, the problem is that the industry uses metacritic.....
you're my fave car game reviewer.yeah, no review yet, but my thoughts so far are up on the site
What?^Its hard to tell reviews from blogs and essays now...
Every review thread people come in and say that THIS is why you don't read reviews.
Except you're in a review thread complaining about reviews you just read, which are opinions for a game you haven't played
Gran Turismo 6 is not a game for the uninitiated. Its made for racing fans by racing fans. Its for people who know that front/rear weight distribution isnt a euphemism for holiday weight gain and that the Gap doesnt refer to a mall clothing store. As a nonracing fan, theres a lot about it I still dont understand. What are performance points and why are they important? I have no idea what torque is. I have no idea what an exhaust manifold is or why it improves my cars racing ability. Admittedly, some of this information is available in the game, but its densely packed into the user-interface and might prove intimidating to newcomers. I didnt care enough to look for it. More importantly, Polyphonic did nothing to make me care. Outside of a few beginner driving lessons, it feels as if youre supposed to know all of this stuff already, and that could alienate some of the new blood this aging franchise needs to stay relevant in the next console generation
Not every review needs to be the opinion of an expert; if someone not well versed in car games had a bad time with it, well, thats still a valid opinion to me, which is all reviews are. A broad spectrum of reviews and reviewers is good.Because it logically makes you think wtf, when reading the text?
If a reviewer played Gran Turismo like Mario Kart and then complains that they keep spinning out, can't fire green shells etc etc, how is that useful to anyone?
Personally all i came into these reviews was to check Eurogamer's verdict on microtransactions, because it was a genuine concern of mine on how it would affect the game.
