If it was free, we'd be hearing about it for months now. Plans can change however according to how preorder numbers and general consumer sentiment is before release. Like if they planned for it all to be paid DLC, they may change it so maybe the first year's worth or the first few big content drops are free etc if expectations are not being met.

The backlash would be spectacular if it's all paid DLC, many will more than likely accuse PD of shipping a stripped down game so they can charge for content that should have been there, and that would be a perfectly valid argument. So I think the first month's will be free, maybe after 50 cars and 4 or 5 tracks they'll start charging us for DLC. I personally would be OK with that arrangement.

Jesus fucking christ what's with the track list? For a sim that has an official FIA sanctioned league and is also the largest car racing franchise with its first real shot at the e-sport world, how did you still mange to fuck up the track list? Real world to fantasy track ratio should be 5:1. Fuck the fantasy tracks and the fantasy cars.

iRacing needs to come to consoles already, this is infuriating.

There won't be a new game next year.

This is a platform and will likely be the only GT this generation. Simple.

Of course we’re preparing for DLC and updates after launch, However I cannot provide specifics at this point. That said, we absolutely won’t keep you waiting one year like it happened with Gran Turismo 5. I believe they’ll come out steadily after a certain period from launch.

As reported by GTPlanet, speaking at the PlayStation Experience event in Malaysia, Yamauchi responded to a question from Youtube user Gema Show Indo and confirmed that there will be online updates in the form of new cars and tracks - but that microtransactions are definitely off the table this time round.

Just to keep people from falling off the deep end.

I'm the fence when it comes to GT Sport, but every I see it, it keeps swaying me. The lack of a career mode is the only take away for me, but I'm starting to look past that. Just wondering how the transition to a more online focused game is gonna pan out.

They really should've just included the premiums from GT5/6 as 'standard' cars or whatever. They're of enough quality I'd think that we probably won't notice in game (except the console warriors lol)

Saw the car list. They have a decent number of Toyota's. (well as decent as you can be with only around 150 cars total)

Interesting because Toyota are damn near non existent in Forza 7 and Project Cars 2. Wonder if there is some a deal we dont know about.

Polyphony lighting techniques >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Wait...

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Everyone else.

They nail it. I don't know how they do it, but the Scapes photos looks nearly indistinguishable from real life.

So Glad this game got a reboot. The car modeling is outstanding. I see now why they only have 150 or so, hell they damn near model 2 cars by making one. V

I can understand why they don't want to outsource an entire car to another company, but I do think it'd be smart to hand off their GT5/6 models to another company and just let them improve upon them. So having another company touch those up would increase the numbers of cars quite dramatically. And PD could continue to do their modeling from scratch.

Will this game get a lot of post-launch support from PD, like more content? Cars/tracks/events, etc. I hope they do. They could make this their GT7.

Yes, they've spoke on it.

Also, considering how long it took for this to come out, I'm not sure they will be moving on to another GT any time soon.

All i want is bspec back.
(Gt4 version)
Has this game enough content for a sp person?

Yeah, GT5/6 received a bunch of cars, tracks and modes. Speaking of which, bring back the fucking Time Rally! Just put it on the Nurburgring if they don't want to remodel Sierra for GTS.

So the 125 kart makes the cut but no dedicated karting track like the one at Interlagos, which we know exists as it was added to the GT6 1.8 track database.

There's got to be a kart track theme in that custom race mode...

Got home and finally watched the new videos on the big screen.

Jaw is on the floor.

Edit:

Be honest, you were never out!

I'm getting chills watching this vids. I don't have PS+ nor plan to get it, but I love me some GT.

Man my eyes are leaking.

I'm sad there's no 90s/2000s performance cars. I'd love to take a NSX NA1, Mazda RX7 FD3S, ect. out

This is really what is killing me here. Everything else, I am open to. Those will always be my cars, tho.

The unibody in that era was a sweet spot. The shells were flexible, but strong and durable as well as light. And beautiful.

If they don't add these cars at some point, gts can never be my favorite Gran Turismo. Bring them out as dlc, please. These cars are Gran Turismo.

Are these cars really different or lots of them are duplicates? For example, are these unique cars?
Lancer Evolution Final Edition - N300
Lancer Evolution Final Edition - Gr3
Lancer Evolution Final Edition - Gr4
Lancer Evolution Final Edition - Gr.B Rally
Lancer Evolution Final Edition - Gr.B Road Car

Or these?
Ferrari 458 Italia - N600
Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 - Gr3
Ferrari 458 Italia - Gr4

And these:
Peugeot RCZ Gr.3
Peugeot RCZ Gr.4
Peugeot RCZ Gr.B Rally Car
Peugeot RCZ GT Line
Peugeot RCZ Gr.3 Road Car

If they're duplicates, GTS have a little more than 100 unique cars.

Not really different but not duplicates. It is a different classes. Better than GT5/GT6 with duplicate skylines, they all are literally Group N, a lot of Group N :))

Sure thing gamers will see this as 3 cars. But different people will see this as 13 cars.

I'm warming up to it a bit more, but online-only really isn't my thing. I also still find the sound design very lacking.

Most of all though the track list seems inadequate for an online only title. No Monza, no Monaco, no Spa. Just very lackluster. If you're going to eliminate the career mode, at least provide more track variety than this.

Full credit to whoever did the car classes video though, very slick.

I finally got home and watched the cars video. I think I see a little more clearly now what they are going for. This fully is a bold new gt. This could work.

I'm surprised they had it in them.

It's going to come down to the quality of the online racing. If the netcode is good, and if the matchmaking is good, then it could be a game changer. Demo starts Monday, so we'll see soon enough.

Interlagos, aka the reason I'm only mildly furious we don't have Spa yet.
Biggest Yamauchi's troll ever is the LeMans scape while the track is not in the game!
This was a total dick move, I've got to say. They name dropped it, too!

The new game format makes this a bit confusing. In the past, the player would manually (or the game via formula) adjust the power and settings on a car model to fit into different race specifications. 1 EVO model could have fit anywhere from N300 to Gr3 and rally depending on what you did to it. That's gone for now in the name of a broader car balance in groups. It's simultaneously a favor to the player to give a good competitive car and a hindrance to more creative tuning.

There's one aspect to the fairly small car list that's buried-- They're trying to develop and hold a performance balance within each class so that the player can pick any model and not be particularly advantaged or disadvantaged. Having 5-15 cars in a class make it at least plausible, but even then it's still hard and this is probably going to be the biggest complaint about online at release. In the beta it was... not so good, particularly Gr4.

Yeah it's just....... different. Anyone who played the beta "gets it" but it's not a thing that's easy to convey to people if they don't already know what you're talking about. Video is actually a decent explanation.

My guess is that in the next GT there'll be a (smaller) collection of cars that get shuffled into classes like this for Sport mode as well as a broader garage for campaign, sandbox stuff and open online lobbies that could go back to that accursed PP system or simply have no restrictions.
