I know people are tired of hearing this but, this looks like a live action film o_O

GT reminds me a lot of Final Fantasy these days; visual brilliance but only slightly above average in other areas. I hope it proves my impression wrong. I'm buying it either way.

Honestly, it appears the team has been working pretty hard to bring the game into the 21st century in a proper way. I think they can finally start getting more content out there. They have a good foundation, people should not be worried.

The meaning and purpose of 'premium' cars in GTS goes beyond the level of detail that we will see even on photo mode on PS4.

The game being rebuilt from the ground up, Polyphony has chosen to take a forward-thinking approach to car models, since this re-architecture needs to serve as foundation moving forward several years. They are building models to the level of detail that will scale to the next few console generations (PS5, PS6...etc) and not be outdated. So, when you ask "Is it really that important to have cars with the tiniest little details...", the answer is a resounding "yes", but it's not just for "scrapes and photo modes".

I've heard the same "we're preparing for the future" story with GT5's premium models and they scrapped them anyway. ;)

This is really what is killing me here. Everything else, I am open to. Those will always be my cars, tho.

The unibody in that era was a sweet spot. The shells were flexible, but strong and durable as well as light. And beautiful.

If they don't add these cars at some point, gts can never be my favorite Gran Turismo. Bring them out as dlc, please. These cars are Gran Turismo.

I always used to get an FTO early on in the career mode, mostly because I owned one irl >_> (that pic looks exactly like my old ‘97 GPX *sniff*). Loved getting an old GTO and slapping on a stage4 turbo in the original GT.

I’m Interested to see how the online reputation system pans out. Maybe one day we’ll get the full GT7, but think this’ll do for now!

Downbeat on some aspects of the full car grouping reveal-- This pretty much assures no open wheel or LMP2-tier vehicles, and none of those badass Red Bull concept death machines that are way above even what GrX would have.
What? The Mercedes Vision GT is actually one of the featured cars in the Justice League
It wouldn't be the first time one of the weirdo GT experimental cars had some kind of physical form. Mercedes paid for the product placement I assume so they can pick whatever they want to show off. But those massive fenders, gross.

Gr. X just seems like a none of the above mishmash category, even the safety cars and the go kart are in GrX.

They really should've just included the premiums from GT5/6 as 'standard' cars or whatever. They're of enough quality I'd think that we probably won't notice in game (except the console warriors lol)

You would be able to tell the difference between GTS and GT5/6 cars in game pretty easily, especially the interior and people would complain about the disparity.

Interlagos, aka the reason I'm only mildly furious we don't have Spa yet.
This was a total dick move, I've got to say. They name dropped it, too!
The new game format makes this a bit confusing. In the past, the player would manually (or the game via formula) adjust the power and settings on a car model to fit into different race specifications. 1 EVO model could have fit anywhere from N300 to Gr3 and rally depending on what you did to it. That's gone for now in the name of a broader car balance in groups. It's simultaneously a favor to the player to give a good competitive car and a hindrance to more creative tuning.

There's one aspect to the fairly small car list that's buried-- They're trying to develop and hold a performance balance within each class so that the player can pick any model and not be particularly advantaged or disadvantaged. Having 5-15 cars in a class make it at least plausible, but even then it's still hard and this is probably going to be the biggest complaint about online at release. In the beta it was... not so good, particularly Gr4.
Yeah it's just....... different. Anyone who played the beta "gets it" but it's not a thing that's easy to convey to people if they don't already know what you're talking about. Video is actually a decent explanation.

My guess is that in the next GT there'll be a (smaller) collection of cars that get shuffled into classes like this for Sport mode as well as a broader garage for campaign, sandbox stuff and open online lobbies that could go back to that accursed PP system or simply have no restrictions.

Sure but race modifications on GT5/6 aren't making the GT car. The models are different, both interior and exterior, and the modelling physics would be different too, such as inertia.

that track list makes me very disappointed

I am one unlike many obviously that appreciate the GT tracks a lot more and want them. They feel more fun to me and well that makes me not even want to play this so much.

Judging by the post support of GT6 you can expect loads more cars and tracks. Even Kaz has said he expects GT Sport to have 400-500 cars when it's all done. I think this is gonna be a well supported game post launch. Everything is looking good so far. Roll on the demo

I've been looking into buying a new driving game (last was Dirt Rally and before that Driveclub) on PS4. Project Cars 2 seems to receive mixed reactions (especially on console) so the next GT seemed like an obvious choice. I don't mind the limited amount of cars and tracks but i don't have PS+ anymore because i never play multiplayer games. Since this is mostly targetted at online play, i'll probably pass on this one aswell unfortunately. I do however look forward to trying the demo.

Hope people buy and enjoy what it currently has. I want to wait for a B-Spec edition where career mode gets added like the older games and stuff with more content.

It looks insanely good but still lacks the solo content for me

From another thread, not my GIF, can't wait for the trial!

What I love most about is that the driver is almost getting his head smashed into the side window from the momentum.
That's why you wear a helmet while racing. Nice attention to detail

Can't wait to try out the demo

when i saw this for the first time it was honestly the point when i started to get excited about the game. and the more they show the more excited i get. the game is looking great.

I get GT has always been a driving simulator and has encouraged people to play the game on them fancy wheel setups. But can anyone tell me how good GT Sport on a dualshock4? Project Cars felt bad on dualshock4, I had to configure a lot of things and even then it just didn't feel fun to play.

I mean, that's the intent at least, and I feel it is a worthy approach. Whether they succeed in carrying it through, or the end result is often at the whim of technological innovations and platform changes and such. It's not like they just started from scratch for nothing--the reasons are there and compelling. How well it serves them this time remains to be seen.

Somehow GT always nails it with DS controls.

It's phenomenal, is what it is. When it comes to driving game visuals, PD are top of their league.

So I booted Gran Turismo 5 on PS3 and played it on the big screen, damn the game still holds well. Took the Audi R8 for a fun drive and man the replay's are stunning and this is GT5 from 2010. Can't wait to see the magic that PD pulls off in GT Sport!

Project Cars felt terrible on all platforms with a controller tho.

The DS4 is not optimal for racing games because of the short analog trigger travel distance imo but it should be way better than Project Cars.
Demo comes on the 9th so just find out then.

Well on monday you will have your chance already.

GT has always been most popular on the controller. I can't think of a racing game that feels as good on a controller, though I haven't tried Asetto Corsa.

It felt good with a controller in the beta, I thought. Obviously the best players will always be using a wheel, but I think you'll definitely be able to have fun with a pad.

There's a problem and that's because of the stupid Fair Usage Policy BS that's imposed on consumers here this part of the world. I can't afford to download 40-50gigs worth demo and then struggle for the entire month with piss poor speeds until the FUP download limit resets back. Might cave in and download the demo though!

Yeah, GT5 and GT6 still look stunning to this day. For me the biggest improvements are in the backgrounds and environments in GTS, which look light years ahead of their predecessors (as they should, since more powerful hardware).

I really wish this game had a proper career mode though. I'll still wait for reviews though on the SP content.

Yeah I’m really surprised that some feel this is such a lacking title. This is a great starting point IMO. Plenty of locations, cars, and modes to play with for a good month or 2, and that’s if I’m really grinding it out, as long as the updates aren’t once a year lol, the car lists, features, and tracks should fill up in no time.

More importantly, it looks and sounds like an incredible experience, basically the reason I bought a 4K set, and it’s looking (along with Horizon) to be the game that truly justifies the purchase.

Let’s not forget that this is a full-priced game and the competition usually offers a wider variety of cars/tracks. I’m fine with the base content if more tracks and cars come as free update regularly (with a mix of paid DLC cars of course, they’re here to make money afterall). But if they make us pay for the extra content, then I wouldn’t be ok with that.

There were some pretty damn quick people in the beta and GT Academy using a pad, it's not that much slower.

The races I played always had 2 or 3 guys who were hilariously untouchable. Might be a coincidence thou.

It may be okay if you're into gaas dynamics and online play; but really, it's not hard to see as a lacking title compared to past entries and what his competitors are offering in terms of content.

Late to the thread, but umm

Where is the weather footage, Kaz?!

God fucking damn it Polyphony, just when I thought I was out.

It even makes me more pissed off that we aren't a fully pledged campaign mode with proper progression in this amazing looking game. AAAHHHHHHH

Edit: BTW does this game have Toyota?

The clear deliniations of classes is limiting in one way but I can see the potential. Not only does it keep the racing fair but it makes things very clear to the driver.

For instance, if you can do just alright in gr4, but get killed in gr3, then it should be perfectly clear to the driver that they need to stick with gr4 and practice. Not be like "hmm maybe it needs more power".
