Thanks. I wish they would have done the surprise ticket during a Legend fest. I feel like if I start playing now and then next week they throw out 3-4 new characters I will forever be locked from not getting them.

I see. Do you feel then that there is more value in:
- Starting now and buying the start dash + ST for 2SSRs or
- Wait until a LegFest and then do the Start dash to get a SSR and wait for the next ST

If you rerolled for something you wanted, a start dash+surprise ticket will finish a team for you of an element.
Started today at 50k chips. Sank down to just 1k due to shit bingo luck, made it up to 100k with suddenly great bingos, went back down to 10k with more shitty bingo, lost 5k in a row at poker, then managed to climb back to 50k in the same poker table.

I'm thoroughly confused on how to buy a start dash ticket. I'm using the iOS app on my iPad. Would I be able to purchase an online Japanese iTunes card and buy it through the app?
Japan Code Supply sells them as well.
Also for iOS users, as long as you're logged in to your JPN iTunes account you can use JPN iTunes gift cards and buy Granblue Coins as well.
Another option is to use an android emulator like bluestacks to download the granblue app on that and pay using your google wallet account. Just make sure you buy the coins and then purchase whatever you wanted while in the app, then you can go back to ios/chrome to use your ticket.

Well that's 3 and then your avatar is the fourth. So you would just need a weapon with the element you want.
Which depending on the team, will probably have along with the character they are attached to.

Where do you insert Mobade Card Codes (Android here)?
If you're on Android, you have it easy! Download the app to your phone, go to make a purchase and then use your Google account to do so.
If you still want to go the pre-paid card method, go to mbga.jp (on Chrome through emulation mode, or on your phone), log in, click our profile at the bottom of the page, then click the "coin" icon next to your profile. Choose "Mobage" from the drop-down box, enter your PIN, hit okay, and you're done!
On the payment/add fund screen you select Mobage card from the drop down menu. On Android you can simply pay through google checkout and it's cheaper. It's 2861 yen for 3000 coins. While a Mobage card will cost you more because the 3000 cards actually only has 2850-2900 usable points on it actually.

So the differences in starting now or a legfest is how much you're willing to pay/endure.
Starting during a legfest and rerolling for something you want then start dashing/waiting for the next surprise ticket would be the best value for your buck/time. Going this path, you're looking at least another three months before a surprise ticket may come back but you'll be almost 100% sure you're getting what you want and not leaving it to chance without taxing your sanity. If you decide to play now, you'll have to suffer lower SSR rates and with no limited characters in the pool, it'll be fairly taxing on you having to make 20+ accounts before you even see one SSR, never mind if it's something you don't want. You may even just give up and take a non-SSR start but with a start dash/ST here, you'll at least get two units you want and can start playing the game right away, if that's important to you.
Sorry I can't give you a clear cut answer on this, this is just too sticky of an issue for me to pass judgement on since I don't know how willing you are to whale or if you value not throwing money at stuff.
tl;dr:
-Are you a whale/don't care for limited characters start dash?
Start now, pick up the ST/start dash. Buy whatever the heck you want
-Are you willing to dip your feet in once in awhile/don't have the patients of a saint for rerolling?
Start during legfest, start dash when you feel conformable with the game/whatever team is forming.
-Can you get someone's decent rerolled account?
BEST OF BOTH WORLDS. Get something decent and ST/SD open to you.
Save all the free 10-rolls you get from start dashes/skins/surprise tickets for Legend fests, and to a lot lesser extent, rate up events for a limited character you really want. I'd only do that if you were 1000% sure of what you're doing and the chances you're taking.

Start Dash cost around 30$ and you pick 1 SSR summon or SSR Character (comes with SSR weapon) you want and it comes with a 10 pulls ticket.
Beginner's ticket is a free 10 pull tickets.
looks like they've translated start dash as beginners pick. bought it and picked an ssr. it has the same banner as start dash with an ingame mail notification saying that you have 48hrs to get a 10 draw ticket + ssr pick ticket that expires after 7 days for 3000 ingame currency.

You get more exp if you do more damage. There's not really a reason to wait around. There's no penalty for wiping.

I'm 99% sure I bought the start dash when I first loaded up Granblue, before the english patch, and wasted the SSR ticket.

All new accounts within about 48 or 72 hours are allowed to buy it. There should be a banner that'll pop up when it's time and a mail sent to your mailbox telling you it's up. If you haven't bought the start dash, it'll be back around one month from your starting date(Every single month till you buy it), just keep an eye on your notifications and the banners.
What it does, is similar to a surprise ticket in that it allows you to buy a 10-roll ticket(savable for a legfest) along with a ticket to buy any character you want that was in the gacha pool at the time of your account's creation. That means if seasonal/timed exclusives were available when you made your account, you can save them in the start dash till you want to pick them up down the road. This also means anything new that's added to the gacha pool can't be added to your start dash since your start dash pool is locked/snap shot'd.
Someone else already answered but it seems they translated start dash to this in English.
Misclicked and went into Luminiera Omega and got the SSR Harp drop. It doesn't seem so good lol

I've been trying to login after making an account and it keeps telling me my email or password is wrong (and after changing it a few times) still no success, what am I doing wrong?
And you can also change your Google Wallet adres to something in the US. It will change towards $ currency then.
so every single account gets to buy it once? hmm, how do i know if I'm eligible? any way to check it? cause i got my account from someone else
btw, really tempted to buy 3000 coins for the SSR.. really enjoying the game so far, voice acting, music and art is really really good

Every single accounts gets a start dash. If you don't know when the account was made, just keep an eye out for a new mail notification and a new banner where all the events are.
If, for some reason, you never see your start dash after a month, the person that use to own the account bought it already for that account. I don't know why but maybe they really like spending money and giving away accounts.
I think all three gaf guilds are full right now.
