Oh, I agree. Mostly it is servers. I was just pointing out that everyone's situation is different.

I still blame R*. :).

Thinking about trying to log back in on 360. I already lost a little progress due to latest cloud issues. I don't want to waste my time, I'm a progressionist.

I didn't mean to come off like a dick. I apologize. I think you are right to say that for some, it most definitely might be on their end. That happens with all launches.

I was finally able to connect to a mission a little while ago. Ended up playing with a random and fellow Gaffer Precision_Dragon (I think that's his name). Precision ended up 'saving' the mission after the random, who was driving, drove himself - and me with him - straight in the middle of a drug deal.

The discussion is about PvP though. By you standards, it would matter if you engaged in PvP which many are doing in this online multiplayer game.

Quality of controls/gameplay is irrelevant when it comes to lock-on. This isn't about "if you want to play a shooter, play Gears." GTA is something entirely different. People who want to play GTA are playing it for reasons beyond cover-based shooting. Having a genuinely balanced playing field for everyone greatly helps to allow more interesting and engaging gameplay. Even if the controls are subpar, the multiplayer is better off without aim-assist for scenarios like the one in my previous post.

Welp, after a 2 man Team Death match crashed (because no one else will join), I loaded back in to see that I have lost a 3rd character. That's it for me, I won't bother again until that is fixed.

This has to be one of the most embarrassing and poorly conceived multiplayer efforts I've seen in a long time. Tons of potential and ambition -- horrendously executed.

I tried to do update 1.02 but it's stuck on a black screen and I can't turn off my Playstation 3. Is it ok to just unplug it?

I don't really get why you get cop stars for doing a repo mission. The person didn't make the payments on the car, and they don't own it. It's not theft. Stupid. Cops + medical bills, make the online less fun.

I don't want to say that it's "okay" to do it, but it's what I did. The only way that I found to get the patch without the black screen is that when the prompt to update comes up, wait a few minutes. The game itself is still loading in the background and if you accept the patch it quits game and returns to the XMB. So I figure if you accept the patch too quickly, then you're quitting game in the middle of an important load and that's what causes the ps3 to hang up on the black screen.

When keepin it real goes wrong. Very, very wrong.
Played for 5 hours straight. My faith in gaming has been restored. Its a great game that allows plenty of dynamic moments that are beyond awesome.

Bravo rockstar. You have found the cure to boredom. Its been years since I have had so many friends signed on xbox live playing the same game.

haha that was THE most intense cops game ever. Got in a 4 star shootout, evidence got dropped in the middle of the cops...went on for like 20 minutes. Rewards sucked, but oh well it was fun.

Man, once Rockstar gets its goddamn shit together and starts pumping out content updates and making necessary adjustments, this is going to be a hell of a game. It's already pretty damn good.

So what's the new way of earning cash fast? I'm down to only $10,000 after losing a ton in replaying a mission I coukdnt get past and would like an apartment some time this year.

I actually want that. It makes the fun half as exciting to me and totally ruins my experience with the game. Most of my time in GTA IV was spent in Free Mode, where I could turn off the cops and do whatever I wanted.

This is seriously my number one complain with the game and can't wait till the PC version is released just because of this reason alone.

Single player or online, I don't care but I want the cops off. I thought the online was gonna come with that option, and was really disappointed when it didn't.

And is the glitch available for all 3 characters?

My favorite troll move so far is finding someone that's in a store and parking my car in front of the closed doors so they can't open them.

Nope. I'm doing repo missions and getting auto 2 stars for doing my job (and it's not theft). But while we are on this point. I think it's silly that you can't drive around in stolen cars without getting cops on you. Wasn't like that in the single player. I don't even bother taking cars in this game. Not worth the hassle.

Thinking back, I think all 3 of my characters were online when the R* servers packed up. Just wondering if there is a connection

I was online when they went to shit this morning, but mine is still showing on the social club page.

If you shoot the doors, they open. You can easily slide/climb out over the car. Someone tried that with me and I killed him and his friend after they tried to use my car to drive-by me. Also evaded the cops, but it was out in the country, so it wasn't hard.

Well in reality, a Repo man can (and do) have the Police called on them since they reacquire vehicles in the same manner thieves do a lot of the time. Of course, they'd have paperwork to justify their repossession but that isn't realistically portrayed in the game because pulling over and showing paperwork to a police officer isn't really an interesting game mechanic.

And let's be honest, what would be challenging about a car repo if there wasn't a chase involved?

I think it's fine when/if you roll up next to a cop car... but getting spotted when you drive by a police station is lame. There's one on the main road to my apartment so I pretty much get a wanted level everytime I want to go home. They should be working in there, not looking out the damn windows for stolen cars! :p
