hmmm GTAV set in 1890..

Come on Sony, do your best and make Rockstar do a Vita version! How ridiculous would it be to play this on the go and to transre(a)r your save files^^ Please let it happen! *Also Vita will sell like hotcakes if this happens, no need for Monster Hunter :D

When I first read the topic title, I thought it said it was releasing November second.

I still need to play GTAIV. I have all the DLC's and main game but my computer can't handle it :(

April worked well for GTA:IV

it's big enough that it doesn't need the holidays to sell. Everyone else just gets out of the way because nothing else matters when a new GTA is about to launch.

What is people's obsession with hilly terrain/hate of flatness? Vice City was flat as a board and it was the best environment of all the GTA games. Its about personality and layout, not terrain.

Adds to the sense of place. I also enjoyed driving around it with a dirt bike.

I would pay $100 for TRANSFARRING GTAVs.

Finally!! Damn, can't wait to see the trailer, and see if there will be any major improvements in gameplay, graphics etc. etc.

Also: mods, my apologies for making a thread while this one already existed. -_-

DC has one of the highest crime rates in the country.

Besides, corporations...

For real ? I didn't knew that :O It seems such a corporate, political, perfectly clean and boring city from Europe

I don't really get this point of view, do you only watch one film set in New York? One episode of Seinfeld?
Well that's because films are all about plot, and if GTA was all about plot... worst game ever. To a large extent what makes GTA games good is exploring the city and being part of the city (that never sleeps). Now we've already done that recently, there's no point in going back immediately. Just like only boring people go to the same holiday location multiple times in a row.

Because it was fun to ride an ATV through the woods?

I already played so many games running around in boring big cities. I want a rural area as well!

I'll never forget the moment I realized how big SA actually is. Still brings a smile to my face.

I honestly don't care which city this is set in, I just want some diversity.

Will be interested, just need to get away from that "y so serious" shit. It made it boring as hell. It wouldn't kill them to put some side quests or missions in, either, and I'm not talking about bowling or middling with that girlfriend. They have done an amazing job at it in Saints Row. Step it up, Rockstar.

Yeah, and I want a Facebook version too, damn it.

I would love a political satire set in DC, but it would be a much better game if you weren't a petty gangster but a white collar criminal (running for president) instead. So basically not a grand theft auto game.

Hmm, right before Saints Row 3 comes out eh?

Still can't wait to see what they are doing, but I enjoyed SR2 more than GTA4 and I am maximum hype for SE3.

The rumor is this is set in Hollywood right?

Whoa, awesome thing to wake up to! I hope it's more like San Andreas than GTA4.

Every year the new CoD is announced is a bigger game announced than GTA now.

I'll be proved wrong in a few weeks but I think MW3 won't sell as much as anticipated, there's just no where near the same about of build up as CoD's have had previous years. It was impossible NOT to hear about MW2 in the weeks before the release, there were ads everywhere and it was all over the news.

GTA however will be just as popular as it ever was, even more so now that everyone has a PS3/360.
Unless they screw it all up and set it in DC.

GOING DEEPER:

The wire mesh in the V is exactly the same as The Matrix when neo goes in for the first time.

GTA V is set in The Matrix.

My work is done here.

I think setting is important, but I think it is in films too, ultimately for me it's the mission design and core mechnical level gameplay that's important, all of that could be the same in LC as any other city really.

I certainly don't expect the game to be in New York, and I'd be a little disappointed if it was, but I'm sure it could still be incredible.

Initially the New York in GTA4 was going to be massively larger, if they'd use a second game to build all that additional space, polish up the core city, I think that'd be great too.

Also how big are the chances for this to not play in Liberty City? I mean all numbered titles took place in Liberty City, right? If this was not the case than they just called it GTA Vice City, or GTA London. I HOPE they use an other city than Liberty City

Then people would say it's too similar to San Andreas.

The problem is that they've covered most of the major cities in the United States.

I get what u mean but truthfully, Baltimore is NOTHING like San Andreas culturally. If done right, it'd be different. A lot colder, a lot darker. (i live in baltimore)

My first thought is that it's in DC as well. I'd prefer a return to Vice City, but DC is something new and I'll take it.

GTA4 lacked a lot of what made the previous GTA games good, but I'm willing to give Rockstar the benefit of the doubt after Red Dead Redemption that they'll do it right.

Also past GTAs have been released pretty close to release dates (except GTA4 but that's only because it was delayed), so this could come out before next summer.

Hopefully they are leading on PC.

You'll be lucky if the PC version launches alongside the console versions.

Awesome stuff. I still haven't played through Episodes from Liberty City, even though I have it both on Steam and PS3. Ridiculous. Maybe watching the trailer will force me to go through it all.

I really feel like Rockstar learned from their mistakes with the main game and tried to improve in the Episodes. So my excitement for V is huge. Can't wait to see the trailer. I'm hoping for a GTA set in Vegas(err well Las Venturas) during the 60's or 70's. That would be amazing.
