Being a good guy would be a shocking and controversial twist, for once. They won't do it.

And so much fun because you won't be able to wreak havoc!
Or are undercover cops allowed to chop off heads and run amok?

I wonder if this is an attempt to overshadow Saints row.

But FUCK YEAH!

That would be like Zelda trying to overshadow Darksiders or Call of Duty giving two shits about Homefront.

It's just not relevant.

Franchise over 114 million.......

Truly a cultural phenomenon. A look into the American soul.
So dramatic, like the grim reaper was saying it

THE AMERICAN SOULLLLLL~

This includes all the space shit George Carlin stuff in San Andreas, right? AMERICA'S SOUL!

This is why I love Rockstar. Maybe it's the evil dictator workplace, but they're awesome at keeping secrets then busting them out of nowhere

The fuck are you talking about? Its not like you have to drive in the correct lane anyways. In GTA, I drive everywhere - in my lane, into oncoming traffic, on the sidewalk, in parks, up hooker's asses - which lane a driver is "supposed" to drive in is of no concern.
I used to find some odd pleasure in stalking a car in GTA3 for long periods of time driving as normally as possible.

Your new avatar is awesome by the way.

Grand theft Auto V in Ohio. Focused around the Cleveland Federal Reserve Bank. Hence the dollar bill font.

Worst. GTA. Ever.

Doesnt matter, they just wont do it. They did it with London but that was a top down game. I would definitely be more interested in a GTA set in another country, but I'm telling you they wont do it.

You guys are going to be so mad if it's a GTA IV direct sequel and you play as Niko Bellic again.
Rockstar said this wouldn't happen. It was unlikely anyway but Niko's voice actor shitting on Rockstar probably put the nail in the coffin for anything like that.

Who says V is based on a new engine? Besides, they "milked" RAGE more than enough.

GTA4 + the episodes, RDR + the undead nightmare, Rockstar Table Tennis, Max Payne 3, Midnight Club: LA.

They all use the RAGE engine. I'd say that's not bad.

well if you look at the earlier version of gta, each "sequel" number represents a significant step up from the previous, as it was with gta 3 from 2 which was the groundbreaking step towards a open world 3d game of its kind. with that, they made gta variations like vice city and san andreas before going to gta 4. gta 4 was a step up from that as well as we all know. so from based on its history, one would expect they would make gta 3:game before taking up a notch with 5. so i would expect 5 to be a different engine or a significantly improved engine from gta 4. i wouldn't expect anything less than ground breaking. perhaps 5 would be the annoucement for the next gen console systems?

I think they should try something different then the open world environment. I guess thats the appeal though, running around killing and blowing shit up. lol

They won't make it an honorable person, so no, it won't be any type of cop or undercover cop. The game is still called Grand Theft Auto.

Now a disgruntled former cop who's small business has come crashing down around him who joins in on a bank robbery only to end up mixed into backdoor political shenanigans involving the mafia, dirty police, and local kingpins? Sure.

I thought that 4 was the high-point of the series, so I am pretty nervous that they won't be able to top that/they'll take it in the opposite direction of 4.

CAN'T WAIT!

I'm pretty much burned out on Rockstar games now, their character control is always clunky as shit and it makes playing them such a chore.

I thought i was slowly growing out of games due to the past couple years of lowering hype and disatisfaction.. I can now safely say that this isnt the case as i am ABSOLUTELY EXSTATIC ABOUT THIS ANNOUNCEMENT OF AN ANNOUNCEMENT >_<

GTAIV was amazing. It's level of detail and the physics engine along with the self preservation system blew my mind. The amount of hours i've spent walking/cruising around this generations liberty city numbers too high to count.

The one thing that i hope they improve on is the managment of resources that pertain to the loading of cars / citizins. I hate skydiving into an empty times square =/ Though, i will be playing the next installment on pc so hopefully this will not be a problem.

I would also LOVE for it to be set in London. Though as much as i doubt it.. i think it would be awesome. The crime, gangs & especially the culture with the entire underground music scene including real deep dubstep and nasty dnb would be fucking great :D

The logo itself gets me a bit excited. The dollar font makes me imagine a narrative closely tied to the financial markets - were you go from a street lawn shark to a penthouse office at Goldman-Sachs.

In terms of sales and critical reception, perhaps. But as far as I'm concerned, SR2 surpassed GTA4 in every possible way.
When Saints Row gets an interesting city, I'll be on board. SR2 felt like SR1 redux to me from the little I played of it. Enjoyed SR1 though, though not nearly as much as any GTA game.

RDR was a big improvement over GTA4, hopefully making a dedicated shooter with MP3 has pushed them even further.

They could definitely do a crooked cop. In fact they need to make the protagonist a real piece of shit. Better be none of this LIFE WILL BE DIFFERENT hypocrisy this time.

This announcement pleases me, but I wont truly be satisfied until Rockstar San Diego announced Red Dead Relapse.

I really do hope GTA V is a major step forward like all the other numbers GTAs and not just some shit where they're trying to sell on pure name brand.

If it's next gen and we only got one half way decent GTA this whole massively long gen, I'mma be surprised/little disappointed.

and with that, i predict and wishful thinking, like they went back to their roots to liberty city with gta 4, i'm thinking with gta 5, they will do likewise and do san andreas remake. with the gta 5 font style, my wishful thinking is hopeful.

When is the game coming out?

I am guessing Q1 2012.

Better question, when will Vorontsov Boris make it better?
