That would be like Zelda trying to overshadow Darksiders or Call of Duty giving two shits about Homefront.

It's just not relevant.

Saints Row has always been in the shadow of GTA, still is.

Well I'm sure GTA lost alot of fans due to the change of tone in 4. Saints Row The Third comes along and the fans who wanted something like San Andreas (in 4) and was disappointed will no doubt atleast be looking at SR3.

So, I'm just wondering. Does the hint from the GTA Episodes from Liberty City, still mean anything? On the first pic it said 'LC, it's over. Next stop'. Then a little part of a poster which could be seen in the porn studio in Vice City, from Episodes from Liberty City. This poster is the second picture

Doesn't this mean that the next GTA will be indeed placed in Vice City? What do you guys think?

Am i really the only one who sees Vegas? ( the dollar bill font ) the V from Vegas etc... looks obvious

Good point. I hope not though. Vegas would be even more disappointing then returning to LA.

Impossible. They will always target the latter half of the year.
Since when? Rockstar always releases games in the summer.

May or June of 2013. Guarantee.
Max Payne will get pushed back to April of 2012.

I think I'd rather the main character not be conflicted about any of the things he is doing. I don't think that worked well with Nico, although I don't think they executed it very well. In cut scenes he had morals but then all his dialogue was just a badman in the action.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
Maybe Rockstar will pull a Read Dead Redemption and make it current gen console exclusive.

Seeing as it looks like it will be about the pursuit of the almighty dollar. I wonder if we'll see Mr Love back , maybe have the recession hitting him and his businesses hard. That would be fun.

You should play Saint's Row 2 some time. The main character is a greedy asshole in and out of cutscenes. It's pretty amazing.

And for the record, I do think the GTA games are better than the Saint's Row games, and I love them both. A lot.

I would argue that GTA4 was a major step back in many regards.
I would totally agree with that too, but generally speaking, it was supposed to be seen as a "leap" from the GTA3 era. Considering GTA4 era was one game, hopefully calling this 5 is cutting their losses and doing something super fresh.

At the very least, try not to tack on multiplayer in like, the last week before the game comes out.

tbh, im really disappointed. was hoping they would save GTA5 for next gen consoles. GTA4 is near unplayable on consoles, it runs and looks like shit

Breaking Bad meets GTA.

I really don't feel like playing as a "Mexican Gangster". As I saw that common on N4G.
You could be a teacher from Bullworth and Jimmy can be your Jesse... GotF

Again, give me GTA: The Wire.

RDR is one of the best looking 360 games I've ever seen. Also, PC version.

Yup, east European city would be cool, GTA:Budapest would be all kinds of awesome :)

What about a slightly futuristic GTA? like cyberpunk setting-ish? One can only dream..

Only starting with the delay of GTA4. Before that, they were all released in October. GTA3, VC, SA and Bully all came out in October (as well as GTA4 before the delay). The game has most likely been in development for a long time. Next summer is not impossible given how Rockstar often does not start promoting games until near release. I'd say it will be out by next October or November at the latest.

There has only been one full fledged GTA so far this cycle, compared to three last time. It would be crazy to think they wouldn't be able to get another one out when it has been three and a half years and the next consoles are probably a year away from even being announced. Plus the install bases for any new hardware wouldn't be where 360 was in 2008 until... who knows when.

Red Dead ran smoother using the same engine, so it is likely that we'll see some improvements here too.

Doubt it

We go backwards and forwards on it. There are very interesting crime stories and other stories you can tell about anyplace in the world. Whether that would work with Grand Theft Auto — when so much about Grand Theft Auto is about the Americana, about the American media — is something I’m not sure about.

And if they did a future one they'd probably make a new brand/franchise for it

22 million copies sold of GTA IV mid-cycle vs. 21.5 for GTA SA at the end of a cycle doesn't really correlate with them losing a lot of fans. Forums aren't the greatest indicator of this stuff.

I still play GTA4 multiplayer. It's completely broken if you're actually trying to play competitively, but it's insanely fun if you're just goofing off.

The way it was implemented, it felt like that's what happened in GTAIV.

The MP was pretty well thought out and implemented.

I think the main problem was they had a pretty bad UI to get to them. I expect they will build on how RDR handled MP which was much, much better so i expect the city will be your hub this time and you can go and find activities as you please.

Which is a much better way to handle it.

The real tragedy with GTAIV multiplayer is that some modes had so much wasted potential. Team Mafiya and Cops N Crooks were ridiculously fun with a full player count. It's a shame that not only was matchmaking borked but the lobby system was the absolute worst.

The huge issue with GTA IV multiplayer is that people typically default to Team Deathmatch, and the game was never built for that (surviving an RPG blast because you have a vest on in single player works because it keeps the flow of the game going, but it makes no sense online). The other issue is that by the time the two episodes came out, certain modes had SIX playlists each - Ranked/Unranked for GTA IV, ditto for Lost and Damned, ditto for Gay Tony.

There should have been one set of playlists with a couple of offshoot modes for the DLC. If people who bought the episodes disc could have played with people who had the original game (similar to Red Dead's Undead Nightmare Collection, or the Halo 3 Mythic disc) things would have been much smoother.

But the modes you mentioned showed a ton of potential. If they can ditch this whole ranked/unranked business and handle the integration of DLC better, the game could be really terrific online.

I agree. I could only ever find deathmatch modes, I really wanted to give the more experimental modes a try.

WHATTT??? Holy shit. Next Wednesday cannot come soon enough. I was really disappointed with GTA4, I can only hope they take a take a solid look and see that we need Vice City again. Best GTA ever.

I wonder if they will at least give us the option of playing in a first person view. I had said before GTA 4 that it would work and make the gameworld more personal and I guess daunting? Maybe not the best description. Got clowned on for suggesting it. But lo and behold a mod came out for GTA 4 that proved that it works great in a GTA game. And the first person view was barely even usable in that mod so I think a properly implemented fps view would be great. Love driving with in car cameras.

RDR was also very barren compared to GTA4. not nearly as much going on.

we will see but i doubt the current consoles can run a game that looks better than GTA4 and as large with goo performance
