yeah because Rockstar wants to launch their flagship title on a system with no userbase and that is a successor to the soccer mom machine.

If they were given enough money a timed exclusive wouldn't hurt them. People would be pissed of course but they'd still be just as eager to play it. It's probably going to at least come out sometime on the Wii U though.

No, it would hurt them. Nintendo wouldn't pay enough money for the marketshare they'd give up. They risk hurting the GTA brand.

I don't want GTA ME but better on-foot, no-weapon controls would be sweet.

If you start out as a young dude with no access to weapons, running from the pigs across rooftops and in alleys would be swell.

that would make for an awesome opening/tutorial

A timed exclusive, not a full time one. And I don't see how it would hurt the GTA brand if it looks and plays as good as GTAIV did for its time.

Makes no sense to make it timed exclusive for a system with an unknown userbase, and it makes no sense for Nintendo to pay out the ass for a timed exclusive that may have no impact on their sales (if the Wii U is just another Wii in terms of userbase, that is). Just makes no sense for either side. Rockstar knows where their bread is buttered, and it's the PS/Xbox gamer.

given the way R* markets GTA's, a timed exclusive would be terrible as those huge campaigns to build awareness for a single date mean a lot

I'm not saying it's likely, just saying Nintendo should try to make out some kind of deal. Nobody can say it's 100% impossible if you're not within RockStar or Take-Two itself.

It's impossible. I don't work work for RS or T2.

Exactly R* gave nintendo a timed exclusive and the Nintendo fanbase were not receptive to it.

Just can't see R* agreeing any exclusive on the Wii U no matter how much money Nintendo could throw at them. They have a proven base on the 360,PS3 and PC.

The idea they would give that up is laughable.

Take Two won't allow a Wii U exclusive even if it just timed. The userbase is starting from scratch. The risk is too high.

Nintendo had their shot but consumers didn't care. It was a great game too.

Maybe somebody should start an official thread for the trailer an hour before the trailer comes out. Make sure its somebody who will be around for an hour to at least update the thread with links to the trailer after it releases.

Remember, Nintendo would have to outbid Microsoft in the moneyhats department for a timed exclusive, since they've had a hard-on for GTA for quite a while. Didn't they fund the expansions with like $50 million? Plus Sony no doubt got their eyes on dat. If the cost of a deal gets close to the $100 million mark, you really have to question the worth of that for Nintendo.

I don't really care if it's timed exclusive or anything like that, I'd just like there to be a Wii U version. Since power is no longer an issue in any way.

I hope noone gets an exclusive deal.

Is it me or is it the timer went to black screen?
This.

all this DLC, pre-order, times exclusive bullshit needs to end, it's fucking ruining gaming.

Wasn't a big fan of GTA IV, but I loved the engine and just how "weighty" things felt. Good stuff. Just a shame about the actual storyline.

I'm more interested in the release date. Is this an announcement that the game is being made, or is it an announcement detailing a release window. I just hope its not a fall title, and I definitely hope its not a 2013 title.

Q4 2012 is my guess.

Yeah I'm guessing I'll be buying this when the GOTY edition hits. I felt burnt when they released extra guns for GTA and such, it was so obvious they held that stuff back in development so they could pump i out as DLC (I didn't buy any of it).

Huh? Of all the things GTAIV did wrong, DLC was not one of them. Those 2 expansions are exactly what I want from singleplayer DLC. Hell, I wish they did that with Red Dead instead of the zombies, and all that multiplayer stuff.

Huh? They did DLC weapons? Or was that for multiplayer only?

Come into thread. See people arguing about (Nintendo) exclusive. Really. Just. I don't--I mean-- Sigh.

Good luck.
