Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

I consider this theard my best online community, I have many friends here even those that I have many arguments with them I consider them my friends, that said I want to share with my friends here that I start working on my very first game after spent more than one year preparing and test tools, free models and shaders for it (because I have main work ) , also I am using godot engine (mobile version) because this game will be for mobile devices currently the story is not finished the main them is third person open world medevil here some of techs that I will use:-
1- volumetric ray marched clouds.
2- dynamic global illumination without lightmap props(godot don't support it on mobile devices but I have my own method)

3-advanced planner reflections
4-dynamic day night cycle
5- volumetric lighting and lens flares
6-for rocks I will use Contact Refinement Parallax Mapping shader
7- and more..
Here a very early shoot from testings

If you need help, ideas or proof reading for the story/lore elements of your game i'll be happy to help !!

I mean the same game will run exactly the same after RT update if you would just use the same max settings which are available now in the absence of RT.
This isn't something which can be said about UE5 games where you generally don't have a lot of performance lying on the table even if you go down to "Medium" or "Low" even.
So I'd argue that the lack of RT in the launch version here isn't the reason for the game "running well", it's the lack of heavy current gen stuff like s/w Lumen which is the reason.
Well the point still stand, it run "well" because it looks mid.

PSSR issue is still present in SHf

I swear I can't stand this PoS console anymore

Grass is flickering like motherfucker (timestamped). I swear, these developers.... Do they even look at games they are developing?!

And probably it won't even have option to turn off PSSR like Hell is Us, I wanted Pro version but looks like PC is the way to go.

PS5 Pro - $750
Silent Hill F - 720p

A little over 1 dollar per pixel. Cerny magic!

I want Euro version with 800p support!

Boy I really hope this is one of those moments where elemenobits is wrong, cause 360p DRS is not going to be pretty on base consoles.

TSR is not magic.

Dying Light 2, 4k Ultra Settings DLAA. Looks great although it doesnt have raytracing yet apparently, it will come in a future update

Even if u somehow dont know about the game, u just see that girl and are already 100% sure no big western studio made that game(techland is polish dev studio) for obvious reason- she looks fuckable =D

I think these devs are right. If dropping to 360p is necessary to keep the performance up then that's what they should do. These consoles simply can't handle "next-gen" graphics, high resolution and 60fps all at once, something has to give. Devs should focus on delivering a good quality mode on consoles, with good graphics and good resolution at 30 fps, with perfect frame pacing. Then if they need to destroy the graphics or the resolution to deliver a performance mode then so be it, but the baseline should always be the quality mode. Remember, to anyone unsatisfied there's always PC.

The other major female charas look like the karen that stole the baseball ball from that father and child not long ago tho :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

"I can't wait for DF to call the graphics 'impressive.'" 😂

Nah even John mentioned Yotei was underwhelming not too long ago on twitter. This will come back to bite Sony in the ass. The areas where Tsushima was significantly lacking have been completely ignored. Never seen anything close to this level of neglect.

looks like last gen garbage.

most of these people dont remember that Dying Light 2 got a major downgrade.

It's been almost 11 years since the release of Dying Light 1, which I still consider the best zombie game to this day.
But WTF have they done all the time in regard to graphic fidelity?
11 frickin years! That's the timespan between the release of the SNES (1990) and Gamecube (2001)!

How do u clasify square dev team responsible for ff7remake/rebirth and ff16 then? :D
FF7 Remake was as AAA as you can get. FF16 as well. Though i would label the FF16 team a B team because the game wasnt very good, and they were previously an MMO studio so Shit tier.

FF7 Rebirth is basically an AAA team phoning it in just like Sony studios this gen. I dont know how to label these studios that were previously A tier but have stagnated since 2020. I would classify them as lazy bastards.

Some studios like CDPR take that next big leap, and some dont. Witcher 1 to Witcher 2 was a massive leap, but still B tier, but then they took another massive leap with Witcher 3 and became not just A Tier but an industry leading studio. Dying Light 2 devs are still where CDPR were with Witcher 2. Same goes for other Polish studios.

Now it makes sense, as a pole im biased af and for me witcher2 was as AAA as it can only get, much more than FF7 remake/rebirth and obviously ff16 in terms of quality of actual game and graphics too- maxed on pc it was very impressive even many years after launch while those recent FF games- u know best urself(and im FF series fanatic here, cant imagine how it feels for just some more casual gamer :D ).
Thats how good w2 looked 9years after launch still, unmodded =D

Sales wise it did some crazy numbers too newest data put w3 at 50m+ copies sold while all 3 games in the series at 75m+ total(which means using napkin math w2 sits at over 20m copies sold).

It still felt a bit janky to me. The animations, the cutscenes, and the combat just felt off. I know you europeans hate the euro jank term, but I think Witcher 3 was the first game from the eastern block that was up there with the best of american, french (ubisoft) and uk based studios.

I think the KCD2 devs have taken that similar leap CDPR took last gen. The first game had potential but felt rather janky. This new game though, the storytelling, the production values, everything just felt AAA. I just cant put Dying Light 2, Cronos, CI Games and Teyon up there with Warhorse and CD Project. But i guess all those studios in one smallish country is pretty impressive.

Now if Bloober knocks the Silent Hill 1 remake out the park then yes, they are in with the big boys. SH2 was absolutely incredible.

It is pretty impressive that Bloober released SH2 and Cronos under a year apart. They are not a massive studio(roughly 200).

The only way that Bloober takes a massive leap as a studio is if they dedicate all their resources towards one project. I am not convinced as a studio they are interested in that. I think it is more likely they are just going to pump out Silent Hill remakes for the foreseeable future, especially after Cronos middling sales

It is frustrating because studios from eastern Europe, like Warhorse, develop games for a fraction of the cost. These studios should be able to have a higher employee count per game than studios in America

I know Borderlands 2 doesnt look that great in the open world, but I really like the lighting at times. Especially in bases where nanite finally gets a chance to shine somewhat, and Lumen does a great job with indirect lighting and shadows.

It's a shame you cant turn off the HUD.

I think we're going to finally see Wolverine in this upcoming State of Play if the recent reports are to be true, Insomniac don't let us down please. 😭

U mentioning eurojank- thats what us poles love best, till this day we have vivid community of first gothic game from that amazing german dev studio piranha bytes- might be only german product besides cars us poles are genuinely in love with :D
And yeh, any1 using eurojank term, especially if they are right and we here are like:

Hell i still got installed(didnt finish it but i play it every few months for a day or two just to get my required dose of heatlhy "eurojank") first elex(dev pyranha bytes too, surprise surprise) back from 2017 :P

Curious to know this thread's takes on this new in-game showcase reveal (Ignoring the obvious 'inspirations' in it's gameplay):

The game itself looks like it's jamming too many ideas and systems into it; that being said, the visuals are delicious. It's probably the best styled visuals of this kind I have ever seen, especially considering the scale. Credit where credit's due, these devs are cooking and pushing tech in the genre. Most times JRPGs with this style of visuals etc will have basically cardboard backgrounds and NPCs, but this world feels surprisingly alive, vibrant, and fresh. Honestly, I'm sad this amazing tech will be wasted on gacha. Imagine the Persona devs having this engine, for example.

Btw, is this what Mugen turned into? The visuals seemed on a similar level and style, only this looks like it went all out on scale and systems.

If this is like P.T, they can have some real liberty lavishing small, enclosed areas and make them look more photo-realistic than ever before.

The problem is with sony direction this gen, kojima can make great looking titles if not constrained by sony bullshit, wow
Kojima even said it's step higher than ds2 with help from Microsoft investment on unreal engine

But hey haven't you heard? It is "optimized" now, or so I heard from ragebait YouTubers & misguided gamers. Lol

It looks 0.3 better than Borderlands 3, but runs 10 times fucking worse.

Not a fan of DS2? this OD game if that's real is probably the best graphics we've seen so far on a purely realistic viewpoint.
I could only endure 20 hours of that piece of shit, yeah.
Story was the usual cringe trash so i had nothing that pushed me forward, the gameplay formula got already stale in the first one and this was a carbon copy so...

And yeah od characters look like the best around, probably because the game has a very small scope.

meh? literally looks like real life footage...
It doesn't look better than your average metahuman and the pic is too blurry to apprecciate the skin details, give me some 4k pic and we can talk.

It's almost 2026, we had impressive faces for a while now, callisto was a couple of years ago already.

The kojima OD characters look much better to me.
