Anyone played this on the PS2? Got a decent score at IGN, and I think I may be picking this one up at launch for PSP along with Ridge Racers. I believe the same team is doing the PSP version.

Seems like Sony's first decent hockey sim in a long time. I'm sure it'll be no ESPN, but it should be a solid buy especailly with online play.

I haven't tried it yet, but the cover for the PSP version is pretty cool!

Yeah but he wasnt retired when it started. They kept using the name because everyone knows the franchise under that name. This is a new franchise (or is it? I've seen a billion Gretzky hockey...) so I kinda wished they would've use someone else but the sad truth is, the NHL have plenty of stars but no superstar that comes close to Gretzky and Lemieux (well with the season cancelled, he's pretty much retired)

Hopefully Crosby will fill the void

Actually, Madden has never actively been involved in football outside of commentary/personality status since the series began. And though Gretzky's not as active/visible as Madden, he still manages to be a more recognizable and larger "ambassador of the game."

That said, there is a lot to be said for the branding aspect. Gretzky games' histories have been pretty spotty.

Although from the sounds of things, this game is actually pretty good.
