The fook? Can't wait to try it out on my Core 2/ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670 machine lol. Still loading it from Steam.

EDIT:- What resolution though, 720p?

yup. 720. it has really good options even some intel specific ones and laptop specific ones like battery use and power saver stuff. its crazy.

the first screen that loads in the game is the INTEL HD GRAPHICS screen telling its optimized for that. Mind you though, i hve an i5 ivy bridge, so i dont know if that makes a difference, but its runs very well and sitll manages to looks decent.

I'm definitely tempted to pick this up on PC, but not yet convinced I'll enjoy the handling. The original Grid had what I'd call "decent" handling for a game that was never meant to be a sim, but Grid 2 was just... I couldn't play it due to how light, floaty, and slidey it felt. PGR3/4 were the last "arcade racers" I truly enjoyed where the handling model gave me just enough control to make it worthwhile. Hot lapping the Nordschleife in PGR3 for a better spot on leader boads was actually a fairly technical, and satisfying endeavor from what I can remember. So, for those of you who've played Grid Autosport, how does it feel? Thanks! :)

I had a chance to test this today at my friends place with fairly similar hardware (CSR wheel, CSR Elite pedals) and I really enjoyed it. I'd say the handling is the opposite of the floaty and slidey that GRID 2 was. It's actually much better than GRID 1 was in my opinion, at least with the cars I tried. The physics are super "grippy" in fact and when you do break traction it's easy to recover from slides (or hold it through the corner with a muscle car ;) ). Still, sliding around def. isn't the way to win races in this.

Had a ton of fun with the touring car races and I tried the tuner stuff just to see what the big deal about the drifting was and I gotta say I had fun with that too, just have a fairly low wheel rotation (like 270 or so) and it's really easy to pull off the drifts. Had no problems beating the AI even on Hard in hot lap, racing and drifting events. Didn't get around to trying Very Hard AI yet, but I'll def. give it a go when I get my physical copy on thursday/friday.

I honestly can't wait to play this online, hopefully with some people that aren't trying to win the race in the first corner.

Played a bit of the campaign last night then ran a few tracks with a group online. Game definitely isn't a looker, even on PC with everything cranked, but it sure is pretty fun! Looking forward to playing some more. Cockpits being low res doesn't upset me that much, just glad to have the correct POV - too focused on the road to notice.

Okay, so I've just got it up and running on my aforementioned laptop, and it's not bad at all.

I can jack it up to 1080p (0xMSAA though), with most settings to HIGH/ULTRA (except for Shadows/Ambient Occlusion to Low and Car Reflections set to Medium), and still get 30 - 40 FPS in game.

A bit less than GRID 2 (I could turn on 2xMSAA in that one and still get acceptable performance) but still great.

Looks like the game lives up to it's reputation of being uber optimized for low end rigs, nice work Codemasters.

Been playing on very hard from the start.
Ai is ruthless. Ravenwest is always faster than you in a straight line, no matter what. Sucks that there cars just naturally go faster.

Played a lil online as well. It sucks if you join a room, you can't take a look at the settings in place when sitting in the lobby to see if collisions are on or off or full damage is there.

Teammate sucks on very hard smh.

Thank you very much, Arucardo. You've pretty much sold me on it. Still a tad apprehensive but what the heck, we only live once. ;-)

I like how the AI just have random wrecks and flips lol. On touring I would come out from behind someone to pass and a car will just be flipping in front of me. I like the immersive ways that can happen.

Wow, it runs flawless 50/60fps on mix medium-high settings on my 3650 HD ATI with 700RAM Memory usage and I'm already satisfied of how it looks in term of graphics. This is amazing :) At the moment is far more enjoyable than Grid 2 and I have no clue of why at times while playing I'm thinking of Underground 2. That Vehicle Tunning could be the answer.

their games capture that well. AI cars slid off in the first Grid and do in the F1 games as well. I remember NFS Shift felt amazing after seeing guys crash as I never saw that in forza.

A day late because of the GMG issues, but gawdamn I'm in love. Just played through the first Street offer that has 4 races and, yea, this is a major step up over GRID 2.

I play on Very Hard/Blurry Cockpit/only ABS/no HUD/3 Flashbacks/automatic. I ended up winning the drivers and team championships for that first season, so maybe the game is too easy? I felt like I earned it at least though.

I usually rename the engineer audio file in these games to I don't have to listen to them....but I was tapping the d-pad pretty much the entire race, seeing if I picked up damage and what place/lap I'm in. The teammate and rival ones are pretty useless though "mid-pack" means nothing for me, at least say ahead or behind...

But that was a fantastic first impression. Certainly not "sim" physics, but immersive gameplay (even with the vaseline visor), so I'm happy.

As a general consensus, is there anyone in this thread who actually likes the drift events?
I liked them in 1 and for the online stuff in 2, then again I liked Gymkhana too so... If it is forced for completion, that is pretty crappy though. With so many disciplines and stuff it shouldn't be forced.

Really enjoy what Ive played so far in career. Love the difference in handling over Grid and Grid 2, not to mention it's beautiful. Online is a bit unintuitive, and I felt that way about 2, but more so with this- I actually found demo derby by complete accident after assuming they had just not included it. I thought the system for the first one was perfect and perfectly simple- all the rooms in a list, and you pick one. Anyways, one for the suggestion box. Aside from that- excellent racer.

Anyone raced with an E30 M3 yet? Might be a deciding factor in my pending purchase since Polyphony Digital refuses to believe the car exists.

edit, while on the topic of cars, Codies, a Subaru coming in one of the car packs? I'll go ahead and assume it's a 22B. :D

This game is definitely way more challenging than I expected, coming from the 2nd game. The AI really provides a decent challenge for me. Playing at the default difficulty too.

I really have to work to get into the top 5 spots, which is something I couldn't really say for GRID 2, so that's a big plus already. Qualifying is also something I can't even top lol, I'm always placing 8th or lower so far.

Also loving the handling; I'm just using a wired 360 pad and it's decent enough.

This game runs like a dream. Have every setting on its highest and using the highest AA solution in 1440p and its still runs buttery smooth.

Anybody having problems with their CSR wheels? the game is recognizing my wheel as an Elite but its not Elite. I can assign everything but the clutch.

Yeah it's recognizing mine as an Elite too but I don't have any issues. I'm not using the clutch tho.

I wish it would put the 360 buttons prompt on screen however. It's not a 100% perfect match but still better than generic numbered buttons. Who knows what button 5 is on their wheels? lol

Loore I guess you can put that in your Community Feedback doc :)

My friend had the same problem, couldn't map the clutch when using the CSR elite pedals through the wheel (CSR), didn't try directly connecting the pedals to the pc though.

For the PC gamers: normal textures versus optional higher resolution textures: http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=4856494&postcount=84 You'll need very good eyes to spot a difference in these screenshots.

The drifting in this game is extremely well done, imo. I had fun with it in the first game but didn't really enjoy it in 2. It has been totally overhauled in this game and I dig it.

OK, if it's done in an interesting way it might be enjoyable, but in my experience in games it is never fun or interesting. And gymkhana can just fuck right off.

picked this up today and just finished my first race. damn, i love codies' racing games. as an old toca fan i'm really digging this game. as usual i love thier presentation. really has me pumped for the idea of dirt 4. cannot wait. feels weird picking up a title for my 360 after buying an xbone and a ps4 but this game is picking up my spirits after being let down by forza 5. well, off to become a legend. lates.

$%?%$/?$%/?$%? Drift argghhhh. I just can't...

Edit:Ok I guess it's more doable with the controller instead of the wheel.

Edit 2: Ok ok Drift, you're starting to win me over lol

After doing a full season with the pad I was actually killing it at the end lol. Playing on medium and ended up wining the final round with about 500k more point than the second guy haha.

Unlocked the Grand Slam but I'm too tired to start 10 events tonight. Will do that tomorrow night.

I gotta say, the Japanese track (I forgot the name) which I assume is a fictional track is really cool. It's basically a mini Fujimi Kaido lol.

Picked it based on your comments about running on intel integrated, works great, no desire to unpack the gaming PC.

Medium-high on a 13" Macbook Pro Retina (i5, Iris aka hd5100) running between 35-50fps.

Any hope of Codemaster releasing a proper cockpit view instead? I have the game pre-ordered but after seeing a video of the cockpit view I'am really not sure if I want the game. Grid 2 was a no sale for me but I had high hopes for autosport since they said the cockpit view would be back, didn't expect this though. :/

Maybe that high-res texture pack fixes some of the cockpit problems (still no animations I guess)?

¨The cockpit is blurry even with the texture pack, they just didn't have the time to implement high quality cockpits for all cars in a year. Disappointing, but it's better than standard models in Gran Turismo.

Wow, this game is really hard on my CPU. Got up to 79c which is hot enough to start getting gameplay hitches (80-81c is where it really starts to choke) I tried turning down graphics and sound stuff but it's still pretty rough. I might be getting to the point where new games are too much for my system. Tomb Raider is the only other one that really burns it like this.

Yeah I'm gonna have to undervolt and hope it doesn't crash like Blizzard games do when I undervolt. This is just running too hot and I don't want to wait till winter to play.

because the fucking CM one I bought was going to break my mobo trying to install it
and partially because my room is hot.

10c cooler now and so far no crash. I guess that dropped the heat below the level that was getting away from my cooler. Hopefully it doesn't crash. It's pretty random if/when it does with the Blizzard games, so no way to be sure with this until I've played a lot.

Now... how do I want to set the graphics. Right now I have them at a point where the benchmark ranges from 59.88 to 107.5, which is probably right where I want it, but maybe I won't mind a dip below 60 now and then for some extra prettiness? For me, advanced lighting is a MUST, definitely well beyond model detail. Going in and out of sunlight and shade needs to have the proper lighting to feel like I'm really in it. I prefer having high textures, especially since there is little penalty for me, but shadows I usually turn down a bit for better performance, but not to blocky levels. I find real vague shaded areas better than blocky dynamic shadows.

I find the highest model details are basically wasted in a sea of jaggies unless you have at least 4x multisampling on, but for some reason that really bogs down this game and the menus start dragging, so I don't use it (mystery solved: see below). Same with GRID 2, but not the DiRT games. Weird. I might play around with CCC to test if that has the same effect as the engine AA. To some extent I feel spoiled after playing BF4 and Garden Warfare most recently, since Frostbyte3 utilizes Mantle, which is amazing.

Edit: Okay so apparently forcing CCC settings does nothing, and yet if you tell CCC to use the game settings, the game engine itself chooses to use the CCC settings. So if you say edge detect in CCC, it uses edge detect. If you say multi, adaptive multi, or supersample, it will use that. So I set CCC to standard with multisample and the much better looking in-game 4x gave me the same bottom end with 10fps higher top end over the crappy-looking CFAA... I'll take it!

Yeah it looks like the high res textures are only applying to the cars right now. You aren't going to get a 4GB update with only car textures, so we're probably locked out of an "Ultra" setting for textures in the graphics menu or something.

This is starting to feel more and more like Shif2 in that it divided a lot of people's opinion and focussed on the racing rather than the car porn.

I have to say I loved Shift 2, so I'm very intrigued as to how this one turns out . . . feels like ages since it was released to the US!
