GTA 6 will run at 30fps on console, former GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 animator expects, and your best shot at 60fps may be hoping for PC

Speaking on Kiwi Talkz, Mike York sets his expectations after being asked if Rockstar will shoot for 30fps or 60fps for GTA6. "I don't know if they'll be able to pull off 60fps," York says. "I don't think so. I think they're gonna be shooting for 30fps – and a locked 30fps, meaning it never dips below that. They're gonna try to optimize as much as they can to where it never goes below 30. But it can be bumped up to 40, 41, 52, whatever, and I bet you, like, later, once it's on PC, it'll probably get super optimized and changed and new graphics cards that come out and you'll be able to run it at 60fps probably at that time."

"I don't think [the] initial release it'll come out at 60fps unless it's getting those 60fps by [using] an AI upscaler thing like the PlayStation is doing, unless something is coming in and helping it get those 60fps," York explains. "I don't think it'll get the 60fps raw out the gate on a base console. PS5, for instance. Maybe PS5 Pro, or whatever, but I still don't think so."

"I don't know what they're doing over there," York says. "I don't know how massive this is going to be. But from my experience, they're going to squeeze every little freaking thing they can out of it and then optimize later for 60 frames because it's not as important as just making the game amazing at 30 frames."

So the article is about a guy that doesn't know shit. Amazing.

There are few games released today were strictly 30FPS on consoles is justified. However, with their work on GTAV for the PS360 generation, and Red Dead Redemption 2 on the Xbone/PS4 generation, Rockstar have proven time and again that they really do put out games were 30FPS makes sense for how hard they push the hardware. The sheer scale and fidelity that they put on screen makes even 30FPS seem like a miracle.

I'm curious what the difference between the ps5 version and the ps5 pro version will be, hopefully pssr will be used, maybe even a frame generation too. 60fps would be soo nice!

Honestly, I won't be surprised.

Xbox Series S/X and PS5/PS5 Pro will be 30 FPS.
Next-gen they sell you a next-gen version with "improved" graphics and "higher" frame-rate.

They know people will double dip so it's quite literally the easiest way to make a lot of money for them.

It's as expected. The PS5 Pro will likely just run it at a higher resolution due to the same CPU. It's probably possible with some sacrifices to run it at 40 but it is still strangely rare for 40 fps support in games. Something like Silent Hill 2 could run at 40. Developers just don't seem to do it so expect 30.

Series that always launches at sub 30fps continues to launch at sub 30fps. Why anyone expected 60fps on console is beyond me. GTAV being 60fps on PS5 is not a reason to have ever expected GTA6 to be 60fps.

While the ps brethren are swinging from the chandeliers and playing from day 1, and exclusive for 10 years, you hang your hat on your fake frames in 10 years time.

This going to be salty.

In line with what everyone but PS fans knew somehow.

Maybe it will, but I don't see anything in the article as proof.
Only proof is that the trailer is 30fps, I think it's just cinematic but if people think it's gameplay then it's 30fps.

DF thinks there's a chance for 60fps on Pro but on stock PS5, nah. Maybe 720p 60fps native with upscaler.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
"former"
"expects"

lets assume this ends up true, do you think PC version will run any better?

Just take a look at dragon dogma 2 and monster hunter wild PC ver.

if the console ver is shit, PC ver most probably is shit as well (not up to PCMR standard)
