GTA 6 will run at 30fps on console, former GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 animator expects, and your best shot at 60fps may be hoping for PC

You need to understand that the CPU in these consoles is once again the achilles heel for high refresh in what are increasingly very CPU demanding games. Maybe if they purge the NPC population, you may just about squeeze in a 40fps mode. But it'll make downtown look like a covid lockdown.

Thank fucking god. Please be right.

The last thing we need is the dumbing down of everything in this game just to hit some stupid ass framerate.

I love how everyone keeps trying to rinse the shit out of this topic for months now, and we have nothing credible in terms of leaks... in fact there was one, the GTA artist or whatever who claimed they were hoping it will be able to run 60 on console and then she quickly removed it.

I think if anyone can do 60 FPS on an ambitious title, it's Rockstar - this isn't some eastern developer with 2 programmers after all.

I don't really buy that cpu would be the bottle neck. With gpu driven rendering cpu doesnt need to stretch itself and it's not like gta does something super intensive on cpu side. With ecs patterns you can have thousands of units of npc.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
Yes, it will on a better machine.
of course but how many PC gamer has this "better machine"? how better?
Will it perform as good as PCMR expect to be?

i highly doubt it. PCMR has higher expectations how a game performs on a high end PC.

Considering the consoles are in their 5th year on the market? A lot.

Last two games did.

Rockstar games scale very well though. Look at GTA V on consoles and then on PC. Same for RDR2. If history is anything to go by, the PC version will perform very well. RDR2 is one hell of a looker and runs beautifully on a wide range of machines. Not the least bit worried about GTA VI.

Long as the frame rate is stable, everyone should be fine, including consoles.

i think you still do not understand what i'm trying to say here.

is it going to run better compared to a console? no shit obviously.

is it going to run well as expected from a PCMR? well............i'm not sure about that.

We shall see, maybe you are right and GTA 6 ends up running PERFECTLY on PC.

I won't buy it until I have a PC that can run it at 4k/60, at high settings. If that takes a year or two or three, so be it. I can wait.

I do.

Much better.

You were using games made on the RE Engine as examples. Nice try I guess but everybody knows that engine sucks for open worlds. Meanwhile RDR2 runs like a dream on PC and I expect no less from GTA VI.

i have seen people complaining about PC performance whenever a game runs poorly on console, RE engine or not.

its a yearly thing now.

RDR2 and GTA VI run amazingly on PC. It’s all subjective, but GTA VI will probably have the most impressive graphics on the market and those will commensurate with high hardware requirements. If people bitch that their potato systems cannot run it (and they will) they will simply need better rigs.

I think the hardware demands for what the graphics deliver will be reasonable.

You must have forgotten how GTA5 ran at launch. Almost constant sub 30fps.
It’s miraculous it even runs on the PS360 with their 256 and 512 MB of RAM. GTA V is very much an 8th generation game that somehow manages to run on 7th generation hardware and not good hardware.

i actually hope the game was optimized well on S, so theres a chance the game will run 60fps on ps5 pro lolz
I hope the game runs at 10fps 480i on Series S, I hope its a complete afterthought and the priority is clearly to maximize the PS5 Pro version at 30fps

PS7 at the earliest. I imagine GTA6 will be on at least 3 generations of consoles, like the last one.

Well, now that I think of it, GTA5 did release on the PS360 initially so you got a valid point, thing is, next consoles are going to have ML so that's kind of a moot point friend since the technical aspects/differentiations between the consoles of yore and the upcoming ones are going to be big (and not only due to "raw power" but again, due to upscaling techniques).

As for me, unfortunately I can't do 30fps anymore due to OLED judder, OLEDs have been both a blessing and a curse in my experience (I should have gone for a mini LED)

Cheers
